[00:00.000 -> 00:08.200] Hey everyone, how you doing? It's Jake here with a big announcement. As you know, we've
[00:08.200 -> 00:12.440] been going now for a couple of years, for about two and a half years actually. And I'll
[00:12.440 -> 00:17.560] tell you a quick story. I felt really old the other day when someone sent a message
[00:17.560 -> 00:21.560] in saying, Hi guys, I just want to let you know that I've been listening to high performance
[00:21.560 -> 00:29.880] since I was a kid. I'm like, what? I feel like this has been going for about five minutes and someone feels like that they listen to this as a child and now they're an adult.
[00:29.880 -> 00:30.360] But there you go.
[00:30.360 -> 00:31.640] We've been going for over two years.
[00:32.040 -> 00:33.960] And let me just be absolutely clear at the top, OK?
[00:34.200 -> 00:39.960] The thing that we are most passionate about is that this podcast is free for people.
[00:40.080 -> 00:47.920] I don't want anyone to feel that they can't access the kinds of conversations that we're bringing you every single week on high performance. I fully understand the value.
[00:47.920 -> 00:52.640] I see the impact because I get messages every single day on Instagram. Some people even track
[00:52.640 -> 00:57.920] down my email address and get in touch. And I don't want that to change. However, there are
[00:57.920 -> 01:04.080] also people saying to us, guys, I could really do without the adverts, or I want to get even closer
[01:04.080 -> 01:05.920] to a life of high performance
[01:05.920 -> 01:10.480] I want even more content than just one or two episodes a week. How can I get even more stuff?
[01:11.040 -> 01:17.440] So we have created high performance plus and there is so much that we're gonna do through this
[01:17.440 -> 01:23.360] subscription service. I understand and I know that some podcasts ask you to subscribe just to get rid
[01:23.360 -> 01:25.160] of the adverts, right? But we're not going to do that. We're asking you to subscribe just to get rid of the adverts, right?
[01:25.160 -> 01:26.200] But we're not going to do that.
[01:26.200 -> 01:31.680] We're asking you to subscribe to get access to so much more content.
[01:31.680 -> 01:37.120] And I'm sure you'll understand it is a lot more work and therefore we need some way of
[01:37.120 -> 01:38.120] funding it.
[01:38.120 -> 01:41.720] And that's why we're asking you to subscribe for a really small amount of money, basically
[01:41.720 -> 01:44.080] like a cup of coffee every month.
[01:44.080 -> 01:45.120] We'll subscribe you to High
[01:45.120 -> 01:50.320] Performance Plus. So what would you get? Well, I think the first thing to say is that it's a much
[01:50.320 -> 01:54.560] more involved experience than just listening to a podcast. I want it to be a conversation.
[01:54.560 -> 01:59.440] I want regular questions from you. I want to create a real community where we're all talking
[01:59.440 -> 02:03.520] and we're sharing things together. As well as that, we're going to give you extra content from
[02:03.520 -> 02:07.040] our High Performance guests. So we were joined recently by an amazing
[02:07.040 -> 02:11.200] psychologist and psychotherapist called Owen O'Kane. He's a brilliant best-selling
[02:11.200 -> 02:14.920] author and Damien and I at the end of the episode spoke to him about an
[02:14.920 -> 02:19.440] exercise that we can do just to sort of take a break really from the crazy
[02:19.440 -> 02:25.320] madness of everyday life and here's a small taster of what he shared with us.
[02:25.320 -> 02:30.680] There's one technique that's quite powerful and you use an image, a word and
[02:30.680 -> 02:34.600] it's a technique called bilateral stimulation. So bilateral stimulation is
[02:34.600 -> 02:39.200] basically tapping. So I mean I don't know if you can hear this on the
[02:39.200 -> 02:42.480] podcast but it's basically you can either use your thighs or the upper arm
[02:42.480 -> 02:48.120] and what you're doing is left to right, very, very slowly, you're using the tapping technique.
[02:48.120 -> 02:51.160] So if I'm working with a client who's really anxious or they've had a lot of trauma and
[02:51.160 -> 02:55.400] I'm just trying to bring them down and steady them, what you encourage them to do is, you
[02:55.400 -> 02:59.280] might even want to do it now if it's helpful while I'm doing it, is just to kind of close
[02:59.280 -> 03:04.960] your eyes momentarily and just let your mind go to somewhere for you that represents peace,
[03:04.960 -> 03:05.280] calm, somewhere that's really still and quiet. momentarily, and just let your mind go to somewhere for you that represents, like, peace,
[03:05.280 -> 03:09.120] calm, somewhere that's really still and quiet.
[03:09.120 -> 03:13.200] And it could be real, it could be fabricated, but it's just allowing the mind to go there
[03:13.200 -> 03:18.640] and just creating an image of stillness and tranquility.
[03:18.640 -> 03:23.020] And then when you're there, you're just literally going to let yourself absorb momentarily everything
[03:23.020 -> 03:26.640] that you can see, feel, hear.
[03:28.000 -> 03:30.720] Just literally get lost in where you are at the moment.
[03:34.400 -> 03:37.120] And then what you're going to do is you're going to just choose one word for you
[03:38.080 -> 03:42.160] that represents where you are now. And that's going to be almost like your safe words,
[03:42.160 -> 03:43.360] you can come here anytime.
[03:42.280 -> 03:43.660] And that's going to almost be like your CF words. You can come here anytime.
[03:46.480 -> 03:48.000] And then with that CF word implant
[03:48.000 -> 03:51.160] that you're just going to focus on the image and the word,
[03:51.160 -> 03:54.000] and you're just going to continue the slow bilateral taps.
[03:55.640 -> 03:58.040] Because that almost reinforces a message to the brain
[03:58.040 -> 04:00.120] that it doesn't need to be in threat mode.
[04:01.000 -> 04:03.320] So that's the kind of thing you'll get from our guests,
[04:03.320 -> 04:04.680] extra content from our guests.
[04:04.680 -> 04:07.000] And also we've got this cool thing called when the mic stops. So often at the kind of thing you'll get from our guests, extra content from our guests. And also we've got this cool thing called when the mic stops.
[04:07.000 -> 04:11.000] So often at the end of our episodes, we just have a bit more of a conversation when the episode ends.
[04:11.000 -> 04:13.000] And our guests always share really interesting stuff.
[04:13.000 -> 04:16.000] And we think, ah, that would have been nice for our audience to hear.
[04:16.000 -> 04:20.000] Well, we're going to be putting those conversations into high performance plus.
[04:20.000 -> 04:24.000] People are also asking quite a lot for more from me and Damien.
[04:24.000 -> 04:27.440] Like I want to know more about professor Damien Hughes and his
[04:27.440 -> 04:30.920] Journey, I want him to have a high-performance conversation and the same for Jake
[04:30.920 -> 04:35.100] So we're going to interview each other pretty regularly about how we're feeling about life
[04:35.400 -> 04:40.480] And I've already spoken to Damien and you know what I've worked with him and knowing him for quite a few years now
[04:40.480 -> 05:05.200] And there are things he told me that even I didn't know. So here's a little taster of my conversation or with Damien ffyrdd o'r blynyddoedd nawr, ac mae yna pethau y mae'n dweud wrthym nad oeddwn i'n gwybod. Felly dyma ffordd o fudd o fy ngwydrch, o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o'r ffyrdd o' y ffyrdd, roedd yn ymdrech i'r gwaith y gafodd ei wneud a'r effaith a oedd wedi'i gael.
[05:09.760 -> 05:14.480] Ac roedd yma am 300 o bobl wedi dod allan ar y ddechrau ddim yn ddim, i'w gweld. Ac rwy'n cofio'n dod yno gyda'r brwydrwyr a'n edrych arnynt, ac roedd
[05:15.440 -> 05:19.040] ym maes 80 o'r bobl sy'n dod allan o'r 300 a oedd yno wedi
[05:19.040 -> 05:23.120] ddim wedi'u sefydlu yn y ring boxing, ond roedd yna i gyd yn rhan o'r cwbl boxing.
[05:23.760 -> 05:47.920] Ac maen nhw'n dod allan i ddod allan i'r efffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i ddod o'r ffordd i d, mae rhaid i rywun ddod â'r arm ar y siol ar weithiau pan oedd yn angen iddo. Felly, eto, roeddwn yn gweld y math o
[05:47.920 -> 05:53.080] deimlad hyn a sut mae'n amlwg ein bod ni allan ar unrhyw un sy'n gallu credu yn ni neu'n
[05:53.080 -> 05:58.960] ymdrechu ni neu'n ein hymdrechu. Ac mae hynny, eto, yn sôn i'n syniad o gafael. Felly,
[05:58.960 -> 06:08.480] wrth fy mod i'n gweithio i fy nhyrfaoofesiynol fy hun. Mae'r ddau ffyrdd o fod o ran ddifrifolwyr cyffredinol, yn gyntaf,
[06:08.480 -> 06:11.000] a chreu amgylcheddau lle gall pobl ddod o hyd,
[06:11.000 -> 06:13.600] ac yna hefyd yn ymwneud â hynny i gyflwyno'n fawr,
[06:13.600 -> 06:16.640] mae'r ddau pethau sy'n siarad wir i fi
[06:16.640 -> 06:19.360] a'i llwyru fy nghyfan a rhoi i mi
[06:19.360 -> 06:22.400] ddwylo fel,
[06:22.400 -> 06:27.280] y byddwn i'n teimlo, os gallaf wneud hynny, a great sort of sense of being that I feel that if I can do that, it's speaking to the
[06:27.280 -> 06:32.640] person that I want to be and the person that I am when I'm at my best.
[06:32.640 -> 06:36.820] And I'm also going to be joining you every single week to share my thought for the week,
[06:36.820 -> 06:41.420] to share a little exercise or a quote or a bit of inspiration that you can take into
[06:41.420 -> 06:47.760] your week to arm you and to send you out into the world better equipped to find your own version of high performance and I
[06:47.760 -> 06:52.640] start by sharing one of my favorite conversations around the Stoics. Have a
[06:52.640 -> 06:57.000] listen to this. We're all on this constantly shifting rug it's like a mat
[06:57.000 -> 06:59.720] that's just being moved around all the time and you've actually got no way of
[06:59.720 -> 07:03.000] knowing where it's going to move what's going to happen so are you going to be
[07:03.000 -> 07:05.000] the kind of person that looks down constantly going,
[07:05.000 -> 07:08.000] oh man, the rug's been pulled out from under my feet?
[07:08.000 -> 07:12.000] Or are you going to be someone that learns to dance on that rug?
[07:12.000 -> 07:14.000] Because here's the truth, right, life is unpredictable,
[07:14.000 -> 07:17.000] life is challenging, life is difficult,
[07:17.000 -> 07:20.000] but also life isn't permanent, everything passes,
[07:20.000 -> 07:23.000] everything is temporary, and that includes pain,
[07:23.000 -> 07:25.000] and that includes difficult times as well.
[07:25.000 -> 07:34.000] So I think one of the key things that I want to mention from my learnings from the Stoics is the ability to deal with pain, the ability to deal with challenges.
[07:34.000 -> 07:40.000] And I guess that comes down to one of the one of the other key virtues of the Stoics, which is courage.
[07:40.000 -> 07:44.000] And I love the thinking that the Stoics put out there.
[07:44.000 -> 07:48.800] If you go through life without challenges, you've got no idea what you're capable of. So
[07:48.800 -> 07:53.040] instead of trying to avoid challenges or difficulties or hard things along the
[07:53.040 -> 07:56.840] way, one of the most important things that we can do in this world is to face
[07:56.840 -> 08:00.760] them head-on and is to understand that actually what those challenges are doing
[08:00.760 -> 08:07.060] they're building us up. So there you go that's what you're going to get from High Performance Plus.
[08:07.060 -> 08:08.340] It isn't very expensive.
[08:08.340 -> 08:10.200] We've tried to keep it as cheap as possible.
[08:10.200 -> 08:12.560] We want as many people as possible to get involved.
[08:12.560 -> 08:15.520] And I promise for a small amount of money every month,
[08:15.520 -> 08:17.840] you will think it's absolutely worth it.
[08:17.840 -> 08:19.780] We want to give you incredible value for money.
[08:19.780 -> 08:21.520] So you will get more from the guests,
[08:21.520 -> 08:23.360] more from myself and Damien.
[08:23.360 -> 08:26.200] You will get no adverts on the podcast episodes,
[08:26.200 -> 08:27.760] and you'll have the opportunity
[08:27.760 -> 08:29.360] to be part of the High Performance team
[08:29.360 -> 08:31.000] and share your thoughts with us.
[08:31.000 -> 08:32.320] So if you want to get involved,
[08:32.320 -> 08:36.760] just go to highperformanceplus.supercast.com
[08:36.760 -> 08:39.880] or click the link in the description to this podcast.
[08:39.880 -> 08:43.480] I promise you won't regret subscribing
[08:43.480 -> 08:45.000] to High Performance Plus.
