Summary

**Susie Ma's Infinite Purpose: Creating a Healthier, Greener, and More Empowered World**

In this episode, Susie Ma, founder of Tropic Skincare, shares her inspiring journey of defining an "infinite purpose" for her business, inspired by author Simon Sinek. This concept has had a profound impact on Susie and the High-Performance Podcast hosts, Jake Humphrey and Damian Hughes.

**Key Takeaways:**

* **Infinite Purpose:** Susie defines infinite purpose as something that is unachievable because it continues indefinitely, guiding all decisions and passions.

* **Wooden Block Reminder:** Susie received a wooden block with the words "infinite purpose" engraved on it from Global Radio, symbolizing the impact of this concept on her life and work.

* **Viktor Frankl's Holocaust Experience:** Jake draws parallels between Susie's infinite purpose and Viktor Frankl's experiences during the Holocaust. Frankl believed that understanding the meaning of life, even in the face of adversity, could help individuals find purpose and resilience.

* **Increased Focus and Enthusiasm:** An infinite purpose provides a clear focus and renewed enthusiasm to keep going, even during challenging times.

* **Waka Papa: Part of the Larger Story:** Susie shares the Maori concept of "Waka Papa," which emphasizes that we are part of a larger story, connected to our ancestors and future generations. This idea aligns with the concept of infinite purpose, as it extends beyond individual achievements to impact future generations.

* **Learning from Mistakes:** Jake emphasizes the value of learning from the mistakes and successes of others, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

* **High-Performance Podcast Community:** Jake and Damian express gratitude to the High-Performance Podcast team, including Will, Hannah, Finn Ryan from Rethink Audio, and Professor Damien Hughes.

* **High-Performance Circle:** Listeners are encouraged to join the High-Performance Circle, a members club that offers exclusive content and networking opportunities.

**Overall Message:**

Susie Ma's concept of infinite purpose serves as a powerful reminder to focus on creating a positive impact that extends beyond individual achievements and continues to inspire future generations. The High-Performance Podcast team emphasizes the importance of learning from others' experiences and embracing a community of support to achieve personal and professional growth.

[00:00.000 -> 00:05.200] As a person with a very deep voice, I'm hired all the time for advertising campaigns.
[00:05.200 -> 00:10.880] But a deep voice doesn't sell B2B, and advertising on the wrong platform doesn't sell B2B either.
[00:10.880 -> 00:14.720] That's why if you're a B2B marketer, you should use LinkedIn ads.
[00:14.720 -> 00:19.920] LinkedIn has the targeting capabilities to help you reach the world's largest professional audience.
[00:19.920 -> 00:24.080] That's right, over 70 million decision makers all in one place.
[00:24.080 -> 00:26.840] All the bigwigs and mediumwigs.
[00:26.840 -> 00:29.520] Also smallwigs who are on the path to becoming bigwigs.
[00:29.520 -> 00:31.760] Okay, that's enough about wigs.
[00:31.760 -> 00:36.200] LinkedIn ads allows you to focus on getting your B2B message to the right people.
[00:36.200 -> 00:41.360] So does that mean you should use ads on LinkedIn instead of hiring me, the man with the deepest
[00:41.360 -> 00:42.840] voice in the world?
[00:42.840 -> 00:44.960] Yes, yes it does.
[00:44.960 -> 00:47.000] Get started today and see why LinkedIn
[00:47.000 -> 00:49.440] is the place to be, to be.
[00:49.440 -> 00:52.720] We'll even give you a $100 credit on your next campaign.
[00:52.720 -> 00:55.880] Go to linkedin.com slash results to claim your credit.
[00:55.880 -> 00:58.180] That's linkedin.com slash results.
[00:58.180 -> 00:59.560] Terms and conditions apply.
[01:02.560 -> 01:04.720] On our podcast, we love to highlight businesses
[01:04.720 -> 01:06.540] that are doing things a better way so you
[01:06.540 -> 01:11.600] can live a better life and that's why when I found Mint Mobile I had to share.
[01:11.600 -> 01:16.280] So Mint Mobile ditched retail stores and all those overhead costs and instead sells their
[01:16.280 -> 01:19.680] phone plans online and passes those savings to you.
[01:19.680 -> 01:23.880] And for a limited time they're passing on even more savings with a new customer offer
[01:23.880 -> 01:29.880] that cuts all Mint Mobile plans to $15 a month when you purchase a 3 month plan.
[01:29.880 -> 01:36.280] That's unlimited talk, text and data for $15 a month.
[01:36.280 -> 01:41.120] And by the way, the quality of Mint Mobile's wireless service in comparison to providers
[01:41.120 -> 01:44.040] that we've worked with before is incredible.
[01:44.040 -> 01:46.320] Mint Mobile is here to rescue you
[01:46.320 -> 01:49.200] with premium wireless plans for 15 bucks a month.
[01:49.200 -> 01:51.960] So say goodbye to your overpriced wireless plans,
[01:51.960 -> 01:53.680] those jaw-dropping monthly bills,
[01:53.680 -> 01:55.600] those unexpected overages,
[01:55.600 -> 01:58.120] because all the plans come with unlimited talk and text
[01:58.120 -> 01:59.520] and high-speed data
[01:59.520 -> 02:02.680] delivered on the nation's largest 5G network.
[02:02.680 -> 02:05.720] Use your own phone with any Mint Mobile plan, bring your
[02:05.720 -> 02:08.820] phone number along with all your existing contacts.
[02:08.820 -> 02:13.440] So ditch overpriced wireless with Mint Mobile's limited time deal and get premium wireless
[02:13.440 -> 02:19.400] service for just $15 a month. To get this new customer offer and your new 3 month unlimited
[02:19.400 -> 02:28.080] wireless plan for just $15 a month, go to mintmobile.com.hpp. That's mintmobile.com slash HPP that's mintmobile.com slash HPP.
[02:28.080 -> 02:33.880] Cut your wireless bill to 15 bucks a month at mintmobile.com slash HPP.
[02:33.880 -> 02:38.080] Additional taxes, fees and restrictions apply. See mintmobile for details.
[02:38.080 -> 02:43.160] I just need to butt in really quickly before the start of this bike size episode to tell
[02:43.160 -> 02:46.200] you to follow at Lotus cars across social media.
[02:46.200 -> 02:48.480] They've actually put up a really cool video
[02:48.480 -> 02:52.500] about the bike that they built for Team GB at the Olympics.
[02:52.500 -> 02:53.720] So get on there and check it out.
[02:53.720 -> 02:55.520] And actually, because you know that Lotus
[02:55.520 -> 02:57.160] are partners on the podcast,
[02:57.160 -> 03:00.160] man, I'm getting so many messages in from people saying,
[03:00.160 -> 03:03.240] how do I find out more about the Lotus Emira?
[03:04.120 -> 03:05.000] And have I driven it?
[03:05.000 -> 03:06.400] No, I haven't driven it yet.
[03:06.400 -> 03:08.700] Hopefully I will get the chance to, I'd love to.
[03:08.700 -> 03:11.700] But to find out more, you just go to lotuscars.com.
[03:11.700 -> 03:17.000] And as always, Lotus, thank you so much for being the founding partners of the High Performance Podcast.
[03:17.000 -> 03:24.300] Hi there, welcome along to another bite-sized episode of the High Performance Podcast.
[03:24.300 -> 03:28.400] We love it when you spend an hour or so listening to the amazing things that our guests have
[03:28.400 -> 03:32.320] got to say, but we also totally understand that sometimes you simply haven't got the
[03:32.320 -> 03:33.320] time.
[03:33.320 -> 03:38.280] So we came up with the idea of these bite-sized episodes just to give you a taste of the High
[03:38.280 -> 03:42.240] Performance Podcast in a few minutes and hopefully some lessons to pick up as well.
[03:42.240 -> 03:45.640] And today it's a really inspirational conversation
[03:45.640 -> 03:47.200] and you'll hear something quite special
[03:47.200 -> 03:49.240] from a lady called Susie Ma.
[03:49.240 -> 03:51.520] Find out what she has to say next.
[03:54.240 -> 03:57.080] We have something that I call an infinite purpose
[03:57.080 -> 03:59.080] and this is actually inspired by Simon Sinek.
[03:59.080 -> 04:01.880] I had the pleasure of going on a challenge with him
[04:01.880 -> 04:04.480] about four years back and he spoke about
[04:04.480 -> 04:06.400] having a purpose in life
[04:06.400 -> 04:11.600] and a purpose is very different to a passion because you can be passionate about so many things
[04:11.600 -> 04:17.600] but a purpose is what guides your passions and is what guides all the decisions that you make
[04:17.600 -> 04:23.680] and he spoke about an infinite one which is something that isn't achievable because it
[04:23.680 -> 04:25.240] carries on.
[04:25.240 -> 04:28.080] And on the back of that conversation with Simon,
[04:28.080 -> 04:30.800] I came back and I decided to create an infinite purpose
[04:30.800 -> 04:32.760] for everything that I do in life.
[04:32.760 -> 04:35.280] And that is to help create a healthier, greener,
[04:35.280 -> 04:37.200] and more empowered world.
[04:37.200 -> 04:38.920] Damien, this is, I mean, as you know,
[04:38.920 -> 04:40.800] in fact, I can show you now,
[04:40.800 -> 04:42.600] I've moved on from the Post-it note Damien.
[04:42.600 -> 04:44.600] I now have a wooden block.
[04:44.600 -> 04:46.040] I've got a wooden block on my desk
[04:46.880 -> 04:48.800] And I might as well tell you the story
[04:48.800 -> 04:55.320] So global radio asked me to talk to their senior managers about the things I've learned on the high-performance podcast
[04:55.320 -> 04:57.320] and obviously one of the things I talked about was
[04:57.520 -> 05:03.920] How much infinite purpose has impacted me and they sent me this lovely wooden block and as you can see on there
[05:04.280 -> 05:07.740] infinite purpose is engaged on there, which is really nice of them to do that, but
[05:08.560 -> 05:12.440] Obviously because I spoke to them about loads of the guests and loads of the things I've learned
[05:13.160 -> 05:17.160] But this is one of the things that's resonated with me the most and obviously when I spoke to them
[05:17.160 -> 05:22.600] They understood that because that's the one thing they picked up on and they sent me that those two words on this on this wooden
[05:22.600 -> 05:24.600] Block, so I guess my passion for it must have shone through
[05:24.680 -> 05:29.280] Well, I think it's such a powerful concept as well i mi y ddau ffyrdd ar y blwc ffyrdd, felly rwy'n meddwl ei fod yn rhaid i mi ddod o'r ffordd. Wel, rwy'n credu ei fod yn un o'r cyfnodau mwyaf, nid yw'n i? Rwy'n credu ei fod yn mynd yn y
[05:29.280 -> 05:35.280] ffordd o'r ffordd i'r gwaith o Viktor Frankl a oedd yn cael ei ysgrifennu ar y podcast hwn yn y blynyddoedd, Jake,
[05:35.280 -> 05:40.080] lle oedd Viktor Frankl yn bywyd holocaust, roedd yn ystyrwyr psychoterapaidd a
[05:40.080 -> 05:46.800] oedd yn ffyrddwyr Auschwitz, ac un o'r pethau a oedd wedi'i deall yw, pan oedd ymdrech i Auschwitz, ac un o'r pethau y mae'n ei ddefnyddio yw bod, pan mae gennych ddealltwriaeth o'r amgueddfa, dealltwriaeth o'r golygu,
[05:46.800 -> 05:50.800] gall eich gynhyrchu i ddod o'r rhai o'r mwyaf o anerchiaid.
[05:50.800 -> 05:54.400] Felly, y bobl sy'n credu, yn ei gysylltiad, er enghraifft,
[05:54.400 -> 06:00.000] bod Auschwitz yn cyfle i ddysgu sut i rannu
[06:00.000 -> 06:03.280] gofal a chynhyrchu a chynhyrchu i bobl eraill.
[06:03.280 -> 06:06.560] Roedd yn ffordd gallan ddod o'r ffordd gallan iddyn nhw byw,
[06:06.560 -> 06:10.160] rhai o'r pwysau a'r atrocydau mwyaf hwyl.
[06:10.160 -> 06:13.040] Nawr, dyna'n debyg iawn, ond dwi'n credu
[06:13.040 -> 06:16.080] i unrhyw un, pan oes gennych syml o gynllun o fewn eich busnes
[06:16.080 -> 06:19.840] neu o fewn eich teulu neu beth bynnag y gwnaethoch chi'n ei wneud,
[06:19.840 -> 06:23.520] mae'n rhoi sgwrs o ffocws mwy a mwy o
[06:23.520 -> 06:26.080] ffodus arwyddol i ddod o'r ffordd, er mwyn i ni ddod o'r ffordd mwy anodd. It gives you an increased focus and an increased and renewed enthusiasm to keep going even
[06:26.080 -> 06:28.360] when we hit difficult times.
[06:28.360 -> 06:31.400] And I think it's important we also point out that what we're not saying here is that you
[06:31.400 -> 06:35.400] have to focus on the outcome because we talk so much on this podcast that you have to focus
[06:35.400 -> 06:36.400] on the process.
[06:36.400 -> 06:41.480] And the great thing about infinite purpose is that of course it is about aiming for something
[06:41.480 -> 06:48.320] and having a focus, having a purpose, but the fact it's got the word infinite in front am eitha'r peth a chael ymdrech, a chael ymdrech, ond mae'r ffaith ei bod yn cael y ywr ffyrdd anhygoel yn y bryd, yn y bryd, yn aros y ffaith eich bod yn
[06:48.320 -> 06:51.840] yn ymdrech ar y cyfnod, oherwydd y peth gwych am unrhyw ffyrdd anhygoel yw
[06:51.840 -> 06:55.200] nad oes unrhyw ddewis, ac rwy'n credu yw hynny'r rhan fwyaf gallan yw hyn, wrth gwrs
[06:55.200 -> 06:57.760] mae gael ymdrech, eisiau gwneud rhywbeth, yn brifysgol,
[06:57.760 -> 07:01.520] gwneud yn anhygoel, yw'r ffaith y gallwch ddewis rhywbeth, neu efallai nifer o
[07:01.520 -> 07:03.840] wahanol bethau ar gyfer wahanol ardalau eich bywyd,
[07:03.840 -> 07:05.000] ac byddant bob amser yno, nid yw bwysig beth sy ar gyfer ardalau eich bywydau. Ac maen nhw'n byw yno iawn,
[07:05.000 -> 07:06.000] hynny diolch.
[07:06.000 -> 07:07.000] Ie, i gyd.
[07:07.000 -> 07:10.000] Roeddwn i'n llwybr ar ôl i
[07:10.000 -> 07:12.000] un o'r tywyr o'r enw Owen Eastwood
[07:12.000 -> 07:15.000] sydd wedi gwneud llawer o gwaith gyda'r New Zealand All Blacks
[07:15.000 -> 07:17.000] ac mae e o gwirioneddau Maori
[07:17.000 -> 07:18.000] yn New Zealand.
[07:18.000 -> 07:20.000] Ac mae e'n siarad am y frasau
[07:20.000 -> 07:21.000] na ddim yn clywed yn erioed
[07:21.000 -> 07:22.000] a'i gynhyrchu,
[07:22.000 -> 07:23.000] Waka Papa.
[07:23.000 -> 07:24.000] Ac mae'n golygu
[07:24.000 -> 07:26.800] ein bod ni'n rhan o'r stori mwyaf,
[07:26.800 -> 07:29.400] mae ein hynnaf sy'n dod yn ddiweddar
[07:29.400 -> 07:33.000] yn cael myfyrwyr y gallwn eu cymryd ac ymdrech.
[07:33.000 -> 07:35.640] Rydym yn y son ar gyfer unrhyw ddrys moment o'r amser
[07:35.640 -> 07:37.680] ac yna rydym yn mynd i'r myfyrwyr
[07:37.680 -> 07:40.280] i'n plant a'r dynas nesaf.
[07:40.280 -> 07:41.520] Ac rwy'n credu bod hynny'n cyflawni ar ôl
[07:41.520 -> 07:43.640] gyda'r syniad o gynllun anhygoel
[07:43.640 -> 07:46.480] yw nad y stori'n byw ar unrhyw ddewis.
[07:46.480 -> 07:49.400] Beth byddwn ni'n dysgu, beth byddwn ni'n dysgu'n ymdrech,
[07:49.400 -> 07:52.320] gallwn ni'n rhoi nhw i mewn o ran y generaion i generaion
[07:52.320 -> 07:55.680] a dechrau ceisio gwneud y byd yn lle mwy o beth.
[07:55.680 -> 07:56.840] Ac rwy'n credu bod hynny'n bwysig,
[07:56.840 -> 07:59.640] oherwydd rwy'n gweithio a dweud i bobl,
[07:59.640 -> 08:02.320] un o'r rhesymau y byddwch chi'n ei chynghori i'r podcast High Performance
[08:02.320 -> 08:04.560] yw bod yr holl bethau rydych chi'n ceisio ei wneud,
[08:04.560 -> 08:07.240] rwy'n teimlo i chi, rhywun wedi bod yno, wedi gwneud, ddewis, cymryd, yr holl bethau sydd ynglyn â hyn. the reasons you should listen to the high-performance podcast is that all the things you're trying to do I promise you someone has been there done it failed

[08:17.080 -> 08:20.480] and then you don't have to make the same mistakes you can learn from the mistakes
