[01:41.680 -> 01:48.760] deal and get premium wireless service for just 15 bucks a month. To get this new customer offer and your new three month

[02:00.600 -> 02:06.600] month at mintmobile.com slash HPP. Additional taxes, fees, and restrictions apply.
[02:06.600 -> 02:08.720] See Mint Mobile for details.
[02:08.720 -> 02:11.080] You know what, I really think that it's vital in life
[02:11.080 -> 02:13.240] to take a chance on people and trust people,
[02:13.240 -> 02:15.400] and personal relationships are key.
[02:15.400 -> 02:18.320] And I'm really lucky that I was already friends
[02:18.320 -> 02:20.520] with Simon Clare from Lotus Cars
[02:20.520 -> 02:22.800] before I created the High Performance Podcast,
[02:22.800 -> 02:27.840] and he took a chance on us, and I picked up the phone to him. I'll never forget it. One day I called
[02:27.840 -> 02:30.920] him and I said look I've got an idea for a podcast that I think will change
[02:30.920 -> 02:35.240] people's lives but it's gonna cost money to make and I'd love it if you would
[02:35.240 -> 02:39.640] help us out and right from the very beginning Simon and Lotus stepped up.
[02:39.640 -> 02:42.920] That's why they're our founding partners and I think it's a good lesson in
[02:42.920 -> 02:45.980] having great relationships with people so you can pick up the phone,
[02:45.980 -> 02:48.240] but also if someone picks up the phone to you,
[02:48.240 -> 02:50.640] take a chance on them as Lotus Cars did with us
[02:50.640 -> 02:52.820] because you never know where it might lead to.
[02:52.820 -> 02:55.440] So huge thanks to Lotus and you can find them
[02:55.440 -> 02:59.500] across social media at Lotus Cars.
[02:59.500 -> 03:01.640] Hi there, welcome along to this bite-sized episode
[03:01.640 -> 03:03.300] of the High Performance Podcast,
[03:03.300 -> 03:10.720] where we will be sharing a tip from one of the most celebrated athletes this country has ever produced about
[03:10.720 -> 03:12.880] how you too can fly.
[03:12.880 -> 03:18.160] This is not a conversation about sport, it's a conversation about life with Tom Daley,
[03:18.160 -> 03:21.740] and you're going to hear a short clip from him and myself, and Professor Damian Hughes
[03:21.740 -> 03:23.360] will then break it down.
[03:23.360 -> 03:26.000] So this episode is only seven or eight minutes long.
[03:26.000 -> 03:28.500] Hopefully it'll give you a bit of inspiration,
[03:28.500 -> 03:31.040] a few short lessons in how you can live
[03:31.040 -> 03:32.840] a more high performance life.
[03:32.840 -> 03:37.440] Coming up next, a nugget of magic from Tom Daley.
[03:40.620 -> 03:42.700] Everyone is a little bit different in some way
[03:42.700 -> 03:44.840] and it's about embracing those differences
[03:44.840 -> 03:45.000] because those differences can often be the things that set us apart from the rest Mae pawb yn wahanol o le, ac mae'n ymwneud â chael y gwahaniaethau hynny,
[03:45.000 -> 03:49.000] oherwydd gall y gwahaniaethau hynny fod yn y pethau sy'n ein gwneud yn y rhan o'r rhain
[03:49.000 -> 03:52.000] wrth fynd i'r profiad o fyd a'r hyn y gallwch chi'n ei ddeall.
[03:52.000 -> 03:57.000] Ond yna mae'n rhaid i ni i gyd ddweud i rhywun ein bod yn teimlo'n lle y gallwn ni fynd i lle y gallwn ni fod
[03:57.000 -> 04:06.000] ac yn eich gwneud yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich bod yn ddangos eich chi'n teimlo eich bod chi wedi cael y cyfle i hynny nawr? Oh, yn unig.
[04:06.000 -> 04:08.000] Felly, rwy'n gobeithio fy nîm i gyd,
[04:08.000 -> 04:10.000] yn amlwg, fy nheulu.
[04:10.000 -> 04:12.000] Roedd rhywbeth sy'n bwysig
[04:12.000 -> 04:14.000] i mi i fynd i'r nîm,
[04:14.000 -> 04:16.000] i fod yn fy hun.
[04:16.000 -> 04:18.000] Nid yn y byd y gwyddant
[04:18.000 -> 04:20.000] yn gwybod pobeth,
[04:20.000 -> 04:22.000] ond y ffaith bod i'n gallu bod yn fy hun,
[04:22.000 -> 04:24.000] fe wnaeth fy mod yn teimlo'n ddangos.
[04:24.000 -> 04:29.440] Roedd gen i amgylchedd dangos yn y cymdeithas, a roedd gen i amgylchedd dangos yn y pwll hefyd, myself, it kind of did make me feel safe. I had a safe environment at home, I had a safe environment at the pool as well, which I think can then take a lot of stress and
[04:29.440 -> 04:32.600] pressure and anxiety away to allow us to fly.
[04:32.600 -> 04:37.220] You know what, Damien? This is again a recurring theme on the podcast, whether it's Robin Van
[04:37.220 -> 04:41.800] Persie talking to us about having to say to some of his friends, I'm sorry, but you're
[04:41.800 -> 04:45.920] no longer in my circle because the place I'm going is not a place you can get to.
[04:45.920 -> 04:48.160] Whether it's Stuart Webber talking to us about the fact
[04:48.160 -> 04:49.620] that he doesn't go on social media
[04:49.620 -> 04:51.240] because it isn't healthy for him
[04:51.240 -> 04:53.360] and he can then make free decisions.
[04:53.360 -> 04:56.160] Whether it's Gareth Southgate sharing
[04:56.160 -> 04:58.560] that he's now a place in his life in his 50s
[04:58.560 -> 05:01.560] where he feels he can make decisions for the right reason
[05:01.560 -> 05:05.000] rather than being judged by other people. The importance of doing what is healthy for us, ymdrechion ar gyfer y rhesymau'n iawn, yn hytrach na'r bydd yn cael eu hymdrech ar gyfer pobl eraill.
[05:05.000 -> 05:09.000] Mae'r bwysigrwydd o wneud yr hyn sy'n iechyd i ni,
[05:09.000 -> 05:11.000] er mwyn i'r pethau eu bod yn penderfyniadau anodd,
[05:11.000 -> 05:16.000] yn rhywbeth dydyn ni ddim yn meddwl y gallwn ni gael cymaint o'r cyfrif ar y podcast hon.
[05:16.000 -> 05:21.000] Yn wir, rwy'n credu y ffras o'r fath y mae Tom yn ei ddefnyddio yno, Jake, o ran teimlo'n ddod yn achos.
[05:21.000 -> 05:28.720] Rwy'n credu mai dyna'r ffras sy'n werth i ni ddod yn achos ychydig. Mae rhai ymchwil ddiddorol ar hyn o ran y ddewis yn ei gynnal, yma Amy Edmondson,
[05:28.720 -> 05:33.840] mae hi'n sefydliadol ymgyrchol yng Nghymru ac mae hi'n mynd i ddiwydiantau
[05:33.840 -> 05:38.240] lle mae cyfrifoldeb cyhoeddiol ac y mae'n cael ei ddod o'n gilydd, mae'r ddewis cyffredinol gyda'r holl hyn
[05:38.240 -> 05:42.960] yw'r ffras o'r enw'r amgylchedd ymgyrchu. Ymgyrchu i fod yn eich hunan, heb
[05:42.960 -> 05:45.520] gobeithio am cael ymdrech, i wneud pethauadau i fod yn eich hunan, heb ei bod yn ymwneud ag ymddygiad, i wneud
[05:45.520 -> 05:51.040] gwahaniaethau heb ei bod yn ymwneud ag y cyfnodau o'r cael ymddygiad, i ddweud eich
[05:51.040 -> 05:55.880] wiriaeth mewn nifer o ffyrdd. Ac rwy'n credu, pan fyddwn yn cael hynny'n eu lle, mae'n ein gallu
[05:55.880 -> 06:02.080] i fod yn unigol, i weithio o lefel o ddiddorol, i fod yn unigol, ac rwy'n credu
[06:02.080 -> 06:08.320] y mhobl ffordd y mae Tom yn ei ddysgrifio, y mae'n ei ddod o, y gwy'n credu bod y bobl sy'n dod allan,
[06:08.320 -> 06:14.400] neu os oedd yn cwrdd â'i gwrdd, neu'n dod allan fel father, mae'r bodd hwnnw yn dod allan o'r
[06:14.400 -> 06:19.440] sicrhau sydd yn cael ei gael yn ôl gan dynion o bobl.
[06:20.080 -> 06:29.000] Ac sut y gallwn ni hyrwyddo pobl i ddod allan i'r penderfyniad da yma? Oherwydd rydyn ni'n cael And how do we encourage people to, to kind of come to the right decision here? Because we get a lot of messages sent in directly to us, mainly DMs on Instagram
[06:29.000 -> 06:32.900] from people saying, I know I'm in the wrong job, I know I'm in the wrong relationship,
[06:32.900 -> 06:35.700] I know I'm in the wrong place, but bloody hell man,
[06:35.700 -> 06:39.000] I'm so scared about making a change or, or making a leap.
[06:39.000 -> 06:44.000] So what advice can we offer to people when they know something isn't quite right?
[06:44.000 -> 06:46.160] Because let's not pretend that this isn't at times a really scary thing to have to do. Pa gwybodaeth allwn ni ofyn i bobl pan ydyn nhw'n gwybod bod rhywbeth ddim yn iawn? Nid ddweud y byddwn ni'n gwneud y peth hwn,
[06:46.160 -> 06:49.080] sydd ar weithiau'n hoff iawn, yn eithaf sgwri.
[06:49.080 -> 06:51.600] Yn unig, dwi ddim yn credu bod hyn yn rhywbeth rydyn ni'n ei ddweud yn hawdd.
[06:51.600 -> 06:56.640] Rwy'n credu bod agnoddiad o'r ffyrdd a sut mae rhai o'r pethau hyn yn sgwri
[06:56.640 -> 06:59.040] yn bwysig i'r cyfnod cyntaf.
[06:59.040 -> 07:01.880] Rwy'n credu pan ddweudwydwn am y math o amgylcheddau
[07:01.880 -> 07:03.000] lle gallwn ni teimlo'n ddod yn iawn,
[07:03.000 -> 07:04.000] mae'r adroddiad hwnnw'n dda
[07:04.000 -> 07:08.400] yw bod pobl yn dod i'n bywydau ar gyfer seisoedd, rhesymau neu bywydau
[07:08.400 -> 07:27.480] ac mae angen i chi ddeall, ydych chi mewn le lle efallai'r seisoedd, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau, y rhesymau,r rhesym sy'n eich gysylltu â chi yn y blynyddoedd yn y blynyddoedd yn eithaf gallan fod yn fawr ac nid i fod yn fawr o ffwrdd o ffwrdd o'r gydraddoldebau hynny,
[07:27.480 -> 07:28.880] heb ffyrddio'ch brifysgriwiau,
[07:28.880 -> 07:33.400] yn dweud y gallai ein bod yn angen mynd i le o ran y byddai'n iechyd i'r ddau o'n
[07:33.400 -> 07:36.800] yn gallu bod yn fawr i'r cyntaf i'r gwybodaeth hwnnw.
[07:36.800 -> 07:40.000] Ac rwy'n credu bod cymorth arall yn bwysig hefyd
[07:40.000 -> 07:44.000] ac mi fyddwch chi ddim yn cael y cymorth o'r cymdeithasau cymdeithasol.
[07:44.000 -> 07:46.200] Efallai na fyddwch chi ddim yn cael y cymorth o gael ychydig o ddriniau gyda gweithwyr gweithio and you're not going to get the perspective from social media. You might not even get the perspective from having a few
[07:46.200 -> 07:49.040] drinks with work colleagues after work or whatever.
[07:49.040 -> 07:51.440] It might only be one or two people in your life that you can
[07:51.440 -> 07:53.600] really share these thoughts with and try and come to these
[07:53.600 -> 07:54.360] decisions with.
[07:54.360 -> 07:57.040] But it is absolutely so important that,
[07:57.320 -> 07:59.120] and I know this kind of sounds stupid,
[07:59.120 -> 08:00.680] but I think that everyone listening to this,
[08:00.680 -> 08:01.880] they need a work team.
[08:01.880 -> 08:04.440] They need people around them at work to make them feel great.
[08:04.440 -> 08:07.560] But also you need a home team as well. You need to make sure
[08:07.560 -> 08:12.000] that you are building a team at home that really work for you, and I'm not just
[08:12.000 -> 08:15.760] talking about your partner or, you know, your children. You can't chop and change
[08:15.760 -> 08:19.320] your children, obviously, but the people in your life at home who you're
[08:19.320 -> 08:23.760] interacting with every day. Just really look at it and think, right, can I have
[08:23.760 -> 08:27.620] the kind of conversations I need to have with these people? Can I be completely myself with
[08:27.620 -> 08:32.720] these people? Because that is only where growth comes from, from totally being
[08:32.720 -> 08:36.320] yourself, and it allows you to explore, and it allows you to get to a place in
[08:36.320 -> 08:40.200] your life where you want to go. So no one is saying these kinds of things are easy,
[08:40.200 -> 08:45.360] but what we are saying is that every single person who's joined us on these ond yr hyn rydyn ni'n dweud yw bod pob un o'r bobl sy'n mynd â ni ar y
[08:45.360 -> 08:50.120] podcastau hwn wedi rhaid i'w wneud penderfyniad anodd ar y tro
[08:50.120 -> 08:54.800] am y bobl sydd o gwmpas nhw neu y ffordd y byddant yn byw eu bywydau
[08:54.800 -> 08:58.480] ac weithiau mae'n cynnwys ddangos pethau.
[08:58.480 -> 09:02.560] Ie, ac rwy'n credu, eto, mae'n werth anghylchu bod rhywun fel Tom
[09:02.560 -> 09:06.080] yn ofalwyd yn unigol athlegol.
[09:06.080 -> 09:11.880] Rydym wedi sôn i boxers y bydd y mhlaen y mhlaen y gallwch chi ei wneud o ran eich bod chi'n y rhan honno,
[09:11.880 -> 09:25.840] ond maen nhw i gyd yn cael un o Diolch yn fawr Damien. Diolch Jake.
