[01:21.000 -> 01:24.160] I don't know what's going on.
[01:24.160 -> 01:26.120] It's 11am and we're podding together. It's race week! It's bloody race week. Maybe that't know what's going on. It's 11 a.m. and we're podding together.
[01:26.120 -> 01:27.040] It's race week.
[01:27.040 -> 01:28.120] It's bloody race week.
[01:28.120 -> 01:29.720] Maybe that's why it's so early.
[01:29.720 -> 01:31.640] We've got a new sprint format as well.
[01:31.640 -> 01:33.520] There is a lot to talk about in today's episode.
[01:33.520 -> 01:34.400] My mind's going crazy.
[01:34.400 -> 01:35.680] I can't understand what's going on.
[01:35.680 -> 01:37.540] Baku, Baku, Baku, my friend.
[01:37.540 -> 01:39.020] What do you think, straight away,
[01:39.020 -> 01:40.700] first thoughts of this track?
[01:40.700 -> 01:42.520] Street track Perez.
[01:42.520 -> 01:43.860] And I will definitely get into that.
[01:43.860 -> 01:47.880] You'll have our predictions today. There's a lot to talk about in today's episode yeah I have for
[01:47.880 -> 01:52.800] once maybe prepared my predictions a little bit yeah yeah based off of based
[01:52.800 -> 01:55.680] off of the track and the facts have you looked at the previous winners and stuff
[01:55.680 -> 02:01.160] like that oh yeah well I've also looked at other previous things but we'll get
[02:01.160 -> 02:04.440] on to that in a minute before we go any further though I want to have the chat
[02:04.440 -> 02:06.720] about what we spoke about yesterday. On our
[02:06.720 -> 02:13.440] leaderboard now of guests, Correa come fourth and it's so close and it started
[02:13.440 -> 02:19.080] to like go into an order of how we feel it should be. I don't know because it's
[02:19.080 -> 02:23.360] our sim and we were saying all the car, the car's the same right? Well when
[02:23.360 -> 02:25.000] people come on our sim,
[02:25.000 -> 02:26.920] no one gets an advantage.
[02:26.920 -> 02:28.760] It's everyone in the same car,
[02:28.760 -> 02:31.000] setting a lap on the same track.
[02:31.000 -> 02:33.640] And there is literally nothing between Oscar Piastri
[02:33.640 -> 02:36.000] and Correa, it's all so close.
[02:36.000 -> 02:36.840] Bro, there's nothing.
[02:36.840 -> 02:38.640] And to be honest, so you've got the top four,
[02:38.640 -> 02:40.560] again, for people at home who obviously can't see this,
[02:40.560 -> 02:41.920] you've got Oscar Top, Oli Berman,
[02:41.920 -> 02:44.400] Felipe Drogovic, JM Correa,
[02:44.400 -> 02:51.000] but you've also got Matt Gallagher, who is not even like a tenth of a second behind Correa.
[02:51.000 -> 02:54.000] He's right there, and also he said that he could have done a lot quicker.
[02:54.000 -> 02:55.000] Dude, that's seriously impressive.
[02:55.000 -> 02:57.000] He was annoyed that he didn't get quicker.
[02:57.000 -> 03:07.720] And I must say, I've not really seen this done before, because they're all in the same car. They all got the same variables like nothing can change so this truly this truly shows
[03:07.720 -> 03:16.040] the actual difference between the drivers. Oscar was the first person to sit at the top as well and he's sitting comfortably at the top like that is a blinder.
[03:16.040 -> 03:21.640] Who do you think could beat Oscar? Lando. Oscar's got a 105.931. Lando would come and
[03:21.640 -> 03:26.160] come and beat Eric. I reckon we could be surprised though. I think
[03:26.160 -> 03:31.400] there would be a surprised person who comes on who just has played the F122 game a lot
[03:31.400 -> 03:36.320] and is used to it. Also someone will clock on now that we use Austria and one of the
[03:36.320 -> 03:42.280] guests we have will practice it. And won't tell us. And that is, then it becomes quite
[03:42.280 -> 03:45.760] dangerous because if someone comes and sets like a 104,
[03:45.760 -> 03:47.800] no one else is going to be able to get anywhere near it.
[03:47.800 -> 03:49.680] Well, I hope the listeners at home are keeping along
[03:49.680 -> 03:52.180] with the YouTube vids because we show all of this.
[03:52.180 -> 03:53.640] When every time we have a guest on,
[03:53.640 -> 03:54.880] they always come and sit a lap.
[03:54.880 -> 03:57.160] And so you can actually visualize it.
[03:57.160 -> 03:59.760] We have some amazing guests lined up
[03:59.760 -> 04:00.680] for the next few months.
[04:00.680 -> 04:04.720] And I can't wait to see who's going to try and pit Oscar.
[04:04.720 -> 04:05.240] We have complete control of this podcast. So guys see who's gonna try and pit Oscar. We have complete
[04:05.240 -> 04:08.940] control of this podcast so guys listen in our Instagram is at pitstop please do
[04:08.940 -> 04:13.180] send us anyone you would love to see on the show anyone in the sport anyone
[04:13.180 -> 04:17.400] doing anything in the sport let us know why you would want them and we'll reach
[04:17.400 -> 04:23.040] out and try and get them. Who have you been burning to see set a lap and truly find
[04:23.040 -> 04:26.320] out how fast they are? They don't necessarily have to be a racer either.
[04:26.320 -> 04:29.960] They don't, they don't. At the start of the pod we wanted it to be just racers but now
[04:29.960 -> 04:32.640] we're just any guest that we have on is going to set a lap.
[04:32.640 -> 04:36.360] I'm currently bottom so we need some people on there that will make me not bottom. That
[04:36.360 -> 04:37.360] would be great.
[04:37.360 -> 04:40.000] The F1 Academy starts this weekend as well.
[04:40.000 -> 04:41.000] It does.
[04:41.000 -> 04:46.000] That's very good. We are in Spielberg for F1 Academy this weekend, Austria.
[04:46.000 -> 04:47.000] Okay.
[04:47.000 -> 04:52.120] We've got Spielberg, then Valencia, then Barcelona, then Zanvort, Monza, Le Castellet, and then
[04:52.120 -> 04:53.120] Austin.
[04:53.120 -> 04:55.200] So they're doing Le Castellet again, nice.
[04:55.200 -> 04:56.200] Back to France for that.
[04:56.200 -> 04:57.200] Okay, and Valencia.
[04:57.200 -> 04:58.200] Valencia.
[04:58.200 -> 04:59.200] Wow.
[04:59.200 -> 05:00.200] That's a pretty cool race.
[05:00.200 -> 05:02.280] This is, I wonder what the tracks are like.
[05:02.280 -> 05:03.600] We'll have to wait and see, mate.
[05:03.600 -> 05:06.040] Do you remember we were analysing the cars a few weeks ago
[05:06.040 -> 05:08.200] and we were sort of like, it looks like an F2 car,
[05:08.200 -> 05:10.200] but it's got like an F1 rear wing.
[05:10.200 -> 05:12.120] And it's got like all sorts of different brands
[05:12.120 -> 05:13.240] for like the engine and stuff.
[05:13.240 -> 05:15.440] It's all completely different to like F1, F2.
[05:15.440 -> 05:18.360] I'm excited to just dive headfirst into it,
[05:18.360 -> 05:19.800] see what it's like.
[05:19.800 -> 05:22.040] And I guess we'll make a full prediction,
[05:22.040 -> 05:22.880] well not a prediction,
[05:22.880 -> 05:26.040] we'll give our full review on it in the next pod.
[05:26.040 -> 05:27.960] What's been happening in the world of Formula One then, Fabs?
[05:27.960 -> 05:32.700] Mate, there has been a big change ahead of Baku.
[05:32.700 -> 05:33.600] A big change?
[05:33.600 -> 05:35.920] Big, big change, as everyone knows by now,
[05:35.920 -> 05:39.240] we have a new format for the weekend,
[05:39.240 -> 05:40.880] because it's a sprint.
[05:40.880 -> 05:43.200] Okay, it's like Formula One have been listening
[05:43.200 -> 05:46.720] to our podcasts over the last year, where we've been saying all of these great ideas.
[05:46.720 -> 05:52.320] We had the idea of a bridge with a fisherman, where the bridge goes up, remember?
[05:52.320 -> 05:54.320] When we were thinking how we can change Formula One.
[05:54.320 -> 05:56.320] How we change Monaco.
[05:56.320 -> 05:58.320] Yeah, that was to have a...
[05:58.320 -> 06:00.320] Build a new part of the track out in the water.
[06:00.320 -> 06:02.320] Yeah, and have a bridge.
[06:02.320 -> 06:04.320] So the boats can still come in and out.
[06:04.320 -> 06:05.520] That's a good idea. I think it's a good idea. One of the big ideas was,
[06:06.880 -> 06:08.800] and this is, I feel like you and me have quite an organic view on this
[06:08.800 -> 06:11.440] because we are fairly new,
[06:11.440 -> 06:14.080] how we interpret the weekend and-
[06:14.080 -> 06:15.040] But we've only ever watched
[06:15.040 -> 06:16.560] like a couple of sprint races last year
[06:16.560 -> 06:17.440] or however many there was.
[06:17.440 -> 06:18.840] We haven't sat through loads of sprint races.
[06:18.840 -> 06:20.360] Well, I love, I mean, I love the sprints
[06:20.360 -> 06:22.160] because it just, I know some people
[06:22.160 -> 06:23.800] have mixed reviews on it.
[06:23.800 -> 06:26.880] I like it because it's just more excitement.
[06:26.880 -> 06:29.160] And now that they've changed Friday
[06:29.160 -> 06:31.600] to only have one practice session
[06:31.600 -> 06:35.560] and then quali for the, it's all a bit all over the place
[06:35.560 -> 06:36.620] and a bit jumbled.
[06:36.620 -> 06:40.620] Yeah, I don't mind sprints,
[06:40.620 -> 06:43.400] but I prefer them in F2 when it's reversed.
[06:44.240 -> 06:45.880] And when it sets the grid for...
[06:45.880 -> 06:47.960] Yeah, well, I don't want to say anything
[06:47.960 -> 06:49.200] until I've watched it because obviously
[06:49.200 -> 06:50.240] they've done this for a reason.
[06:50.240 -> 06:52.880] And I will agree, sometimes on Fridays,
[06:52.880 -> 06:55.080] it can be a bit like, oh, it's just practice.
[06:55.080 -> 06:57.080] But then Matt Gallagher made a good point on his show.
[06:57.080 -> 06:58.960] And he said like people don't work on Fridays.
[06:58.960 -> 07:01.920] So a lot of people are going to miss the sprint shootout,
[07:01.920 -> 07:03.920] which is a shame.
[07:03.920 -> 07:07.080] Yeah, I mean, before it was just like you know practice one,
[07:07.080 -> 07:10.160] two and three so I guess not as many people
[07:10.160 -> 07:11.000] were worried about that.
[07:11.000 -> 07:12.600] Sorry, they won't miss a sprint shootout on a Friday.
[07:12.600 -> 07:15.640] It's the qualifying for the race on Friday, isn't it?
[07:15.640 -> 07:18.000] Yes, so the Friday afternoon qualifying session.
[07:18.000 -> 07:19.640] Which is the most important qualifying really.
[07:19.640 -> 07:21.760] It sets the grid for Sunday's Grand Prix
[07:21.760 -> 07:26.940] and on Saturday you now have sprint quali in the morning and a sprint in the afternoon.
[07:26.940 -> 07:31.480] So how do you think that is going to change everything?
[07:31.480 -> 07:36.080] Because there's a few things to bear in mind, and the first thing is, Charles Leclerc has
[07:36.080 -> 07:42.320] already had to change three ECU units, engine combustion units, and you're only allowed
[07:42.320 -> 07:45.520] two per season. You are now adding extra racing
[07:45.520 -> 07:51.520] basically, extra pressure in with no more allowment of extra engines, no more
[07:51.520 -> 07:56.280] budget cap. The teams are being pushed even further. Yep. The drivers are being
[07:56.280 -> 08:00.400] pushed even further and we know Max isn't happy about it. That's the first
[08:00.400 -> 08:05.760] thing I've seen. Verstappen has said it's's not fun anymore. We already have 24, 25 races.
[08:05.760 -> 08:07.080] And if we add more things like that,
[08:07.080 -> 08:08.100] it's not worth it for me.
[08:08.100 -> 08:09.760] I hope there aren't too many changes.
[08:09.760 -> 08:11.480] Like Verstappen doesn't like it.
[08:11.480 -> 08:16.040] It's a tricky one because if the changes to this weekend
[08:16.040 -> 08:20.160] were going to benefit the latter half of the grid,
[08:20.160 -> 08:21.920] then I would be up for it.
[08:21.920 -> 08:24.000] And I would see why Verstappen wouldn't be
[08:24.000 -> 08:25.020] because he's always winning.
[08:25.020 -> 08:26.640] So no benefit to him.
[08:26.640 -> 08:30.480] But I don't see how the way that they've changed
[08:30.480 -> 08:32.360] the weekend for the sprint,
[08:32.360 -> 08:34.360] I don't see how that benefits
[08:34.360 -> 08:37.160] like the second half of the grid.
[08:37.160 -> 08:38.680] So in a sprint-
[08:38.680 -> 08:41.200] Because there's still a sprint qualifying.
[08:41.200 -> 08:43.880] Well, surely in the sprint shootout.
[08:43.880 -> 08:47.560] The top eight score points, if you don't get in the top eight, you don't score points in
[08:47.560 -> 08:52.360] the sprint. So the final 12 people, what are they really racing for?
[08:52.360 -> 08:56.600] But if it was a reverse grid for the sprint, it would be completely different.
[08:56.600 -> 08:58.660] Then it would be unreal.
[08:58.660 -> 09:00.400] So why don't they reverse grid in F1?
[09:00.400 -> 09:02.920] There must be a reason that we're missing, bro. I don't know.
[09:02.920 -> 09:05.000] Maybe they are, we don't even know.
[09:05.000 -> 09:07.000] No, it's not reverse green.
[09:07.000 -> 09:11.000] I do see what you're saying. Surely it means the same teams are pretty much going to get...
[09:11.000 -> 09:15.000] There's quite a big difference between, like, well, what is it at the moment?
[09:15.000 -> 09:20.000] It's roughly like the top six teams and then there's a midfield of like eight teams where they're all quite similar.
[09:20.000 -> 09:25.160] You're probably just going to see the same teams get the points in the sprint and the race, even though we've added more.
[09:25.160 -> 09:27.780] It's been nice to do a bit of,
[09:27.780 -> 09:29.640] like to listen to other people talk about it
[09:29.640 -> 09:32.600] because it definitely changes your perspective on it.
[09:32.600 -> 09:35.320] In the beginning, I was like, this could be really fun
[09:35.320 -> 09:39.600] because the sprint isn't set in the grid for the race.
[09:39.600 -> 09:41.040] They don't have to be as careful.
[09:41.040 -> 09:43.680] They can be a bit more ballsy and actually go for it
[09:43.680 -> 09:45.040] and treat it as another
[09:45.040 -> 09:50.640] race but that's a good way of thinking about it however i don't know whether that works because
[09:50.640 -> 09:54.400] the teams are you know they're still going to be trying to save their car well that's the thing
[09:55.360 -> 10:00.560] any kind of damage throughout a quali two sets of qualifying a sprint race at a race you're out
[10:00.560 -> 10:05.360] there four times basically where you you could you could put it into a wall.
[10:05.360 -> 10:08.800] Yeah, I do feel like the main driving force
[10:08.800 -> 10:13.160] behind this change has been for the viewers from F1.
[10:13.160 -> 10:15.320] I feel like F1 have made this decision
[10:15.320 -> 10:17.480] because they want to make the weekend more fun,
[10:17.480 -> 10:19.640] more exciting, which is fair enough.
[10:19.640 -> 10:21.500] They want more viewers on a Friday.
[10:21.500 -> 10:23.640] Like I know for a fact that,
[10:23.640 -> 10:27.220] you know, my dad doesn't work anymore, my dad's retired, but if he was working on a Friday he would still
[10:27.220 -> 10:31.940] record the Friday practice sessions and watch them in the evening. So now he's got even
[10:31.940 -> 10:35.740] more of a reason to do it. Yeah, well we watch all the practices but yeah I'd
[10:35.740 -> 10:39.140] much rather watch a sprint shootout on a Friday. I am buzzing with it.
[10:39.140 -> 10:43.380] Sorry, I'm qualifying on a Friday, that's good. I'm genuinely, I'm getting a
[10:43.380 -> 10:45.700] bit riled up, my heart's going a little bit. It's going to be, it's going to be-
[10:45.700 -> 10:47.080] We haven't had racing in a month, bro.
[10:47.080 -> 10:48.160] I know, it'll be a great weekend
[10:48.160 -> 10:49.880] and we get Mr. Oli Berman back.
[10:49.880 -> 10:52.080] Now, not only is he second on our leaderboard,
[10:52.080 -> 10:54.560] but as we know in F2 in the first half of the season,
[10:54.560 -> 10:58.680] he's been very quick and shown signs of great driving.
[10:58.680 -> 11:00.800] Everyone knows Oli Berman is great.
[11:00.800 -> 11:01.640] Yeah.
[11:01.640 -> 11:03.080] But he is still 16th in the championship
[11:03.080 -> 11:05.000] and hasn't really been picking up points.
[11:05.000 -> 11:07.120] So I'm excited to see Oli this weekend.
[11:07.120 -> 11:10.000] Cause I do have, I just have this feeling about him.
[11:10.000 -> 11:11.360] Yeah, I just.
[11:11.360 -> 11:12.440] He's got an energy around him.
[11:12.440 -> 11:15.280] You watch him drive and you just see so many moments
[11:15.280 -> 11:17.000] of magic and like he was so unlucky
[11:17.000 -> 11:20.640] and when he got, when he had the crash with Porsche
[11:20.640 -> 11:22.780] and things just haven't necessarily gone his way.
[11:22.780 -> 11:27.120] And I think also we are, we are also we are flying the Premier flag.
[11:27.120 -> 11:28.920] Like Premier's the team,
[11:28.920 -> 11:30.280] I'd say that we're the closest to.
[11:30.280 -> 11:32.080] Yeah, we've gone after Angelina by the way,
[11:32.080 -> 11:32.920] after the last pod,
[11:32.920 -> 11:34.920] we spoke about getting Angelina on with Juan.
[11:34.920 -> 11:37.240] I want everyone to know that we've pounced.
[11:37.240 -> 11:38.600] Hopefully we can get Angelina on.
[11:38.600 -> 11:39.440] We need you to come on.
[11:39.440 -> 11:41.240] She is just an absolute diamond.
[11:41.240 -> 11:42.720] She's so amazing.
[11:42.720 -> 11:45.640] Just quickly, mate, before we miss it and brush over it,
[11:45.640 -> 11:47.840] the sprint, so it's being called a sprint shootout,
[11:47.840 -> 11:50.040] by the way, the quali session.
[11:50.040 -> 11:51.600] This is where it gets a bit interesting, right?
[11:51.600 -> 11:55.280] So Q1, that's a super short qualifying session.
[11:55.280 -> 11:57.720] So you've got a 12 minute session, Q1.
[11:57.720 -> 11:59.320] And how long is it normally, 20?
[12:01.960 -> 12:07.180] No, we don't have to pretend we don't know.
[12:07.180 -> 12:10.220] We watch it every week, but I just can't, I know it gets shorter.
[12:10.220 -> 12:15.460] I know Q1 is longer than Q2 and then Q3 is shorter because it's less, I think, isn't
[12:15.460 -> 12:17.220] it like 20, 15, 10?
[12:17.220 -> 12:19.580] I thought Q1 was half an hour.
[12:19.580 -> 12:21.860] I think it's 20, 15, 10.
[12:21.860 -> 12:22.860] Check it.
[12:22.860 -> 12:23.860] I believe.
[12:23.860 -> 12:26.280] No, it's no, it's 2015-10, surely.
[12:26.280 -> 12:30.320] Q1 lasting 18 minutes, Q2 lasting 15 minutes,
[12:30.320 -> 12:31.920] and Q3 lasting 12 minutes.
[12:31.920 -> 12:32.960] Oh, okay.
[12:32.960 -> 12:34.560] I thought it was like a...
[12:34.560 -> 12:35.840] Oh, God.
[12:35.840 -> 12:37.640] 2015-10, really?
[12:37.640 -> 12:38.760] I don't know.
[12:38.760 -> 12:39.600] Close enough.
[12:39.600 -> 12:42.000] So it's shorter than normal qualified, though.
[12:42.000 -> 12:43.960] Yeah, so yeah, a lot shorter.
[12:43.960 -> 12:46.300] So Q1 is 12 minutes long, and it's mandatory that normal qualified though. Yeah. So yeah, a lot shorter. So Q1 is 12 minutes long
[12:46.300 -> 12:49.880] and it's mandatory that they use medium tires.
[12:49.880 -> 12:51.540] For the first one.
[12:51.540 -> 12:54.040] And the slowest five cars are eliminated.
[12:54.040 -> 12:54.880] Yeah.
[12:54.880 -> 12:58.620] Q2, 10 minutes, mandatory medium tire again.
[12:58.620 -> 13:00.280] Big question here.
[13:00.280 -> 13:02.300] Spoke to Matt Gallagher about this.
[13:02.300 -> 13:09.400] Are they allowed to use two different medium tires? Oh, or do they have to use that same compound in q2 as in q1?
[13:09.920 -> 13:11.100] well
[13:11.100 -> 13:14.200] So it's 12 minutes long an average lap of back
[13:14.200 -> 13:19.520] I think is about 130. If I try to work this out with maths. Yeah, I reckon you could probably use the same set but
[13:20.280 -> 13:23.960] What I don't know we'll have to see mate. I have no idea. You could definitely use the same set
[13:23.960 -> 13:25.960] But I wonder if that is available. And then they switch to a soft don't they, we'll have to see, mate. I have no idea. I wonder if that is available.
[13:25.960 -> 13:28.240] And then they switched to a soft, don't they, for Q3?
[13:28.240 -> 13:29.960] Five slowest cars again eliminated.
[13:29.960 -> 13:33.320] Q3 is eight minutes long and they have to use a soft tire.
[13:33.320 -> 13:36.840] So there's a lot of changes, a lot of variables.
[13:38.080 -> 13:40.040] And like most people that I've seen talk about it
[13:40.040 -> 13:42.220] actually don't know if it's going to work or not.
[13:42.220 -> 13:44.320] So very, very exciting weekend.
[13:44.320 -> 13:46.680] Plus you've just got the fact that it's Baku
[13:46.680 -> 13:48.320] and it's like this insane street circuit.
[13:48.320 -> 13:50.080] Everyone knows what Baku's like.
[13:50.080 -> 13:52.000] It's going to be an exciting weekend.
[13:52.000 -> 13:53.960] I have actually thought of another change
[13:53.960 -> 13:55.520] that they could potentially introduce.
[13:55.520 -> 13:57.640] Just going to put it out there now.
[13:57.640 -> 13:58.480] You should do that.
[13:58.480 -> 13:59.800] You should hand write this in a letter
[13:59.800 -> 14:00.640] and give it to Ross Brown.
[14:00.640 -> 14:02.040] Shall I write it in?
[14:02.040 -> 14:04.640] Yeah, well, basically I was on the F1 game
[14:04.640 -> 14:07.600] and I was driving round Baku the wrong way
[14:07.600 -> 14:10.160] because that's what you do when you're shit in the game.
[14:10.160 -> 14:11.600] And I was just driving around the wrong way
[14:11.600 -> 14:14.480] and obviously there's the castle bit in Baku that I hate.
[14:14.480 -> 14:16.920] When you go through that section, I can never do it.
[14:16.920 -> 14:19.000] If you go around the track the other way,
[14:19.000 -> 14:20.720] it's really easy to get through it.
[14:20.720 -> 14:21.560] It is?
[14:21.560 -> 14:25.760] And then it made me think, could they reverse the tracks?
[14:25.760 -> 14:28.520] Could they ever reverse a track to make it more interesting?
[14:28.520 -> 14:30.160] Now that might sound really stupid
[14:30.160 -> 14:32.280] and I might be missing something really obvious.
[14:32.280 -> 14:33.640] No, they 100% could, surely.
[14:33.640 -> 14:35.040] Could they ever just like go,
[14:35.040 -> 14:37.440] right, we've done that track enough that way,
[14:37.440 -> 14:39.080] let's go the other way round,
[14:39.080 -> 14:41.360] which would make every corner different, wouldn't it?
[14:41.360 -> 14:43.680] And it would mean, it would just make everything different.
[14:43.680 -> 14:49.040] It would, it would fuck with all of the the drivers it would fuck with all the drivers yeah it would
[14:49.040 -> 14:53.680] the pit is probably the only part where it it could get the sticky because i swear the entrance
[14:53.680 -> 14:58.880] and exit surely you could do it with every track like maybe imagine that you said for the sprint
[14:58.880 -> 15:02.160] you're going the other way and they've got to learn that's something they've learned the track
[15:02.160 -> 15:06.940] though you'd have to learn a new track new breaking points new gears new
[15:07.200 -> 15:12.980] It would be completely fresh. It's funny that we talk about it because I drive backwards on Monaco
[15:13.680 -> 15:16.920] Okay again. Well, it wasn't easier. It was
[15:18.280 -> 15:23.200] Because like you're going all uphill you're going through the tunnel. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, you know that discuss a comment
[15:23.200 -> 15:25.880] Yeah, that corner where I go straight over it.
[15:25.880 -> 15:27.480] And I've just Googled it here,
[15:27.480 -> 15:32.480] and here is an F1 onboard lap backwards in Monaco,
[15:33.000 -> 15:35.920] driven in a Seto Corsa with Max Verstappen.
[15:37.060 -> 15:40.440] Is this actually Max Verstappen driving this in?
[15:40.440 -> 15:41.280] I don't know.
[15:41.280 -> 15:42.520] You just found a random video of a guy
[15:42.520 -> 15:44.200] with a Red Bull hat on,
[15:44.200 -> 15:45.960] and he's pretending to be Max Verstappen.
[15:45.960 -> 15:47.840] He's in a red bull car.
[15:47.840 -> 15:48.840] I'm not really sure.
[15:48.840 -> 15:49.840] Either way.
[15:49.840 -> 15:52.000] But my question is, could you actually reverse tracks?
[15:52.000 -> 15:53.000] Would it work?
[15:53.000 -> 15:54.720] What would be the reasons that it wouldn't work?
[15:54.720 -> 15:56.880] The pit lanes are set up, aren't they?
[15:56.880 -> 16:01.440] Certain gravel spots where you've got safety areas and that run off might not work.
[16:01.440 -> 16:04.400] But they change the tracks pretty much every year anyway.
[16:04.400 -> 16:08.120] On a street circuit. I would love to see that just an idea I would love it
[16:08.120 -> 16:13.200] just an idea anyway I just thought you know I like the ideas yeah it's not too
[16:13.200 -> 16:17.680] bad is it could I could add a bit of extra spice to some of the races that's
[16:17.680 -> 16:23.120] what I was thinking random fact of the podcast
[16:24.760 -> 16:25.000] how random is it gonna be what we What are we going for today? Food?
[16:25.000 -> 16:26.000] Drink?
[16:26.000 -> 16:27.000] No, no, no, it's not too random.
[16:27.000 -> 16:28.000] It's still about Baku.
[16:28.000 -> 16:29.000] Oh, okay.
[16:29.000 -> 16:30.000] I think we kind of knew this.
[16:30.000 -> 16:31.000] We've seen this.
[16:31.000 -> 16:32.000] You probably knew it.
[16:32.000 -> 16:33.000] I've known it, but never really registered that it was at Baku.
[16:33.000 -> 16:34.000] During qualifying for the 2016 race, Valtteri Bottas, in a Williams, set an unofficial record
[16:34.000 -> 16:35.000] for the fastest lap time in the world.
[16:35.000 -> 16:36.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:36.000 -> 16:37.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:37.000 -> 16:38.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:38.000 -> 16:39.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:39.000 -> 16:40.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:40.000 -> 16:41.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:41.000 -> 16:42.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:42.000 -> 16:43.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:43.000 -> 16:44.000] He was the fastest in the world.
[16:44.000 -> 16:46.920] He was the fastest in the world. He was the fastest in the world. He was the fastest in the world. He was the fastest in the world. He was the fastest in the world. was at Baku. During qualifying for the 2016 race Valtteri Bottas in a Williams
[16:46.920 -> 16:53.680] set an unofficial record, don't know why it's unofficial, sounds like one of
[16:53.680 -> 17:00.520] Vab's facts, for the highest ever speed recorded in an F1 car. We've spoke about
[17:00.520 -> 17:05.200] this before. 378 kilometers that's 234 miles an hour.
[17:06.660 -> 17:09.780] So I can see why, because that straight is massive.
[17:09.780 -> 17:11.120] I can't see why.
[17:12.300 -> 17:13.140] Really?
[17:13.140 -> 17:15.340] Well, no, because...
[17:15.340 -> 17:18.260] Well, he's in a very quick Mercedes in that year.
[17:18.260 -> 17:19.800] Oh, Williams.
[17:19.800 -> 17:22.260] I just said Williams.
[17:22.260 -> 17:23.100] In 2016.
[17:24.260 -> 17:25.060] That would be Bottas. Oh, was Rosberg still there then? I guess he was in 2016. That would be bottas.
[17:25.060 -> 17:26.720] Oh, was Rosberg still there then?
[17:26.720 -> 17:28.360] I guess he was in 2016.
[17:28.360 -> 17:29.360] Covered myself there.
[17:29.360 -> 17:31.240] Yep, very good, very, very good.
[17:31.240 -> 17:32.960] I hate you.
[17:32.960 -> 17:33.900] He did it in a Williams.
[17:33.900 -> 17:37.840] Now, people know that we weren't watching F1 in 2016.
[17:37.840 -> 17:39.860] Unofficial, does that mean it was in practice
[17:39.860 -> 17:41.200] and was he running low fuel?
[17:41.200 -> 17:44.160] It was, I believe, it was in qualifying.
[17:44.160 -> 17:46.320] Okay, so why is it unofficial then?
[17:46.320 -> 17:47.480] We're gonna have to figure that out
[17:47.480 -> 17:49.320] and come back to the pod next week and update you.
[17:49.320 -> 17:50.840] And let everyone know.
[17:50.840 -> 17:51.680] So right now, basically, what-
[17:51.680 -> 17:53.160] I think it's unofficial because everyone's trying
[17:53.160 -> 17:55.960] to figure out how the hell he did that in a Williams.
[17:55.960 -> 17:57.400] They're like, well, we don't really believe it,
[17:57.400 -> 17:58.440] so it's unofficial.
[17:58.440 -> 17:59.880] What we've learned here is Valtteri Bras
[17:59.880 -> 18:02.360] is actually the fastest F1 driver in the world then.
[18:02.360 -> 18:03.960] There's no argument.
[18:03.960 -> 18:05.160] Valtteri is an absolute G.
[18:05.160 -> 18:06.920] If he's got that record.
[18:06.920 -> 18:07.880] What I want to know,
[18:07.880 -> 18:10.160] and this is something that's really been tickling
[18:10.160 -> 18:11.200] the back of my head a little bit,
[18:11.200 -> 18:13.520] because I haven't done enough research into it.
[18:13.520 -> 18:16.400] When you look back over F1 car history,
[18:16.400 -> 18:19.360] you know, they had the V12s and the V10s and the V8s.
[18:19.360 -> 18:21.320] Now they're using a V6, I believe.
[18:21.320 -> 18:22.360] If you listen to the cars,
[18:22.360 -> 18:25.100] they used to be insanely high pitch.
[18:25.100 -> 18:26.880] When I went to that race at Silverstone
[18:26.880 -> 18:29.160] and my dad in 2006, as a wee boy,
[18:29.160 -> 18:30.800] I had to have earmuffs on,
[18:30.800 -> 18:32.560] cause it was so loud.
[18:32.560 -> 18:34.100] I think my dad even had earplugs in,
[18:34.100 -> 18:35.040] cause we were on the straight.
[18:35.040 -> 18:35.880] So that's when it's like,
[18:35.880 -> 18:38.120] they're like the loudest and the fastest.
[18:38.120 -> 18:40.560] But now I remember, you know,
[18:40.560 -> 18:42.720] being at Silverstone again this year,
[18:42.720 -> 18:46.040] last year, sorry, it was bearable.
[18:46.040 -> 18:46.880] It wasn't too loud.
[18:46.880 -> 18:50.720] So I was under the impression that the cars were slower.
[18:51.600 -> 18:54.360] Okay. Better they're not, they're just quieter.
[18:54.360 -> 18:55.320] Yeah.
[18:55.320 -> 18:56.200] Well, that's because-
[18:56.200 -> 18:58.000] I mean, they obviously, like, marginally,
[18:58.000 -> 18:59.200] they must be a little bit slower than the cars.
[18:59.200 -> 19:00.940] It's a lot of that because like back then,
[19:00.940 -> 19:03.640] it would have been like 100% engine.
[19:03.640 -> 19:04.480] And now there's-
[19:04.480 -> 19:05.360] Half hybrid. I know there's obviously still a lot engine, but now you have been 100% engine. And now there's- Half hybrid.
[19:05.360 -> 19:07.240] I know there's obviously still a lot engine,
[19:07.240 -> 19:08.840] but now you have all the other stuff, don't you?
[19:08.840 -> 19:09.680] No, it's a valid point, mate.
[19:09.680 -> 19:10.520] It is, yeah.
[19:10.520 -> 19:13.320] You have all these generators and batteries
[19:13.320 -> 19:14.820] and all this crazy stuff that's added
[19:14.820 -> 19:16.360] and all this eco-friendly stuff.
[19:16.360 -> 19:17.600] Orange juice and everything else.
[19:17.600 -> 19:19.480] Yeah, oh, don't forget the orange juice.
[19:19.480 -> 19:21.320] So, I don't really know.
[19:21.320 -> 19:22.820] I don't really know.
[19:24.160 -> 19:25.800] I could have been prepared. I've got a question.
[19:25.800 -> 19:26.800] But that's the beauty of pit stop.
[19:26.800 -> 19:28.800] Total Wolf said that there's big things coming.
[19:28.800 -> 19:31.800] He said that the W14 is continuing to evolve.
[19:31.800 -> 19:34.800] And that's a big thing I want to get into for predictions.
[19:34.800 -> 19:38.800] Mercedes, because they were amazing last week, last race.
[19:38.800 -> 19:41.800] But why is it the W14?
[19:41.800 -> 19:43.800] Is that because they've been in...
[19:43.800 -> 19:45.440] Like, how does that work? Has it been like the W13, W12, W11? Is that because they've been in, like, how does that work?
[19:45.440 -> 19:47.600] Has it been like the W13, W12, W11?
[19:47.600 -> 19:48.940] It's made in West London?
[19:48.940 -> 19:50.020] I don't know.
[19:50.020 -> 19:51.940] I've got no...
[19:51.940 -> 19:54.080] Like, I don't know how they come up with these names.
[19:54.080 -> 19:54.920] That's all.
[19:54.920 -> 19:58.240] Is it because it's the 14th Mercedes car or something?
[19:58.240 -> 20:00.880] So 14, yeah, that would be...
[20:00.880 -> 20:02.960] Yeah, so that means, and what does a W mean?
[20:02.960 -> 20:07.920] That's why you have like the RB, yeah, RB I get that I get the RB because it's Red Bull
[20:07.920 -> 20:14.280] yeah but what does W mean on a Mercedes you'd like to know yeah because I just
[20:14.280 -> 20:20.880] don't know it might be a really obvious answer well wolf wolf
[20:20.880 -> 20:26.800] I have no idea why it's called W14 what We've just got Google up here, we're having a quick search.
[20:26.800 -> 20:27.880] No, no, we haven't.
[20:27.880 -> 20:29.400] Why don't you step away from my laptop
[20:29.400 -> 20:30.240] and just take my word for it?
[20:30.240 -> 20:31.880] We have got Google app, I'm just moving it
[20:31.880 -> 20:32.720] over to the top of my head.
[20:32.720 -> 20:34.760] Thank you very much.
[20:34.760 -> 20:37.600] What is the W13 and F1?
[20:38.560 -> 20:41.240] Look, what is the, oh, you got it.
[20:41.240 -> 20:43.480] Well, if you'd have just sat down,
[20:43.480 -> 20:46.000] then I was preparing to tell you.
[20:46.000 -> 20:47.500] I'm all prepared to listen.
[20:47.500 -> 20:48.500] It means wagon.
[20:48.500 -> 20:49.500] You're lying.
[20:49.500 -> 20:50.500] It means wagon.
[20:50.500 -> 20:51.500] You're lying.
[20:51.500 -> 20:52.500] It means wagon.
[20:52.500 -> 20:53.500] Wagon?
[20:53.500 -> 20:54.500] Wagon.
[20:54.500 -> 20:55.500] Yep.
[20:55.500 -> 20:56.500] Why?
[20:56.500 -> 20:59.000] Because wagon means cart.
[20:59.000 -> 21:01.000] Wagon wheels is a great old chocolate thing.
[21:01.000 -> 21:03.000] I used to have one in my packed lunch in school.
[21:03.000 -> 21:07.080] Well, it's not spelled wagon with an O, it's spelled wagon with an E.
[21:07.080 -> 21:07.920] What?
[21:07.920 -> 21:10.000] How on earth do you spell wagon with an E?
[21:10.000 -> 21:10.840] Oh, wagon.
[21:10.840 -> 21:11.660] Wagen.
[21:11.660 -> 21:12.500] Wagen.
[21:12.500 -> 21:13.320] Is it E at the beginning?
[21:13.320 -> 21:14.160] No.
[21:14.160 -> 21:15.000] Oh.
[21:15.000 -> 21:15.820] No.
[21:15.820 -> 21:17.720] It's W-H-E-E-N.
[21:17.720 -> 21:18.560] Oh, wagen.
[21:18.560 -> 21:19.400] Wagen.
[21:19.400 -> 21:21.300] That's like, that looks like a German word.
[21:21.300 -> 21:24.400] Yeah, well, finally enough, it is a German word.
[21:24.400 -> 21:25.400] German engineering. Yep. That makes perfect sense. Everything's coming back to German word. Yeah, well, funnily enough, it is a German word. German engineering.
[21:25.400 -> 21:26.240] Yep.
[21:26.240 -> 21:27.120] That makes perfect sense.
[21:27.120 -> 21:28.680] Everything's coming back to me now.
[21:28.680 -> 21:29.640] Yeah.
[21:29.640 -> 21:30.480] Ah.
[21:30.480 -> 21:32.960] Okay, well I'm glad we've cleared that one up.
[21:32.960 -> 21:34.380] I don't know how many people knew that.
[21:34.380 -> 21:35.720] No, you do learn.
[21:35.720 -> 21:36.680] You do learn stuff around the Prince of Pope, Gus.
[21:36.680 -> 21:38.360] You would assume that it was
[21:38.360 -> 21:40.600] because maybe they were owned by Williams?
[21:40.600 -> 21:41.440] Breaking news!
[21:41.440 -> 21:43.560] Oh, oh.
[21:43.560 -> 21:44.400] Breaking news.
[21:44.400 -> 21:46.000] Okay, do I need to strap in for this one?
[21:46.800 -> 21:52.160] As we know, Fernando Alonso has been winning on the track. He's been doing significantly well,
[21:52.160 -> 21:55.920] hasn't he? And? Well, we haven't done a pub for a while, so I feel like we should give our opinion
[21:55.920 -> 21:59.920] on the fact that he's been linked with Taylor Swift. He's been even winning off the track
[21:59.920 -> 22:04.800] by the sound of it. Yeah. Now, we've had clarification that this is fake. Huh? Like,
[22:01.000 -> 22:03.880] by the sound of it. Yeah, now we've had clarification that this is fake.
[22:03.880 -> 22:04.880] Huh?
[22:04.880 -> 22:07.400] Like, I'm pretty sure this is fake.
[22:07.400 -> 22:08.400] No.
[22:08.400 -> 22:09.800] Yeah, I am pretty sure it's fake.
[22:09.800 -> 22:10.800] Wow.
[22:10.800 -> 22:13.760] But, I kind of want it to be real.
[22:13.760 -> 22:15.280] Who said that it's fake?
[22:15.280 -> 22:16.700] It's definitely fake.
[22:16.700 -> 22:17.700] I'm pretty sure.
[22:17.700 -> 22:20.760] No, but he posted a little, he winked at the camera.
[22:20.760 -> 22:21.760] Did he?
[22:21.760 -> 22:23.200] He winked at the camera over a Taylor Swift song.
[22:23.200 -> 22:25.200] I don't know, maybe it's not fake then.
[22:25.200 -> 22:26.200] Maybe it was just trying to hide it.
[22:26.200 -> 22:29.000] We are never, never, never getting back together.
[22:29.000 -> 22:30.200] I hope that's his podium song.
[22:30.200 -> 22:31.200] Is that Swifty?
[22:31.200 -> 22:34.200] I hope if he gets on the podium he just fucking blasts out Taylor Swift.
[22:34.200 -> 22:35.200] Rather than play the Spanish.
[22:35.200 -> 22:36.200] Whatever they have for me it's just Taylor Swift.
[22:36.200 -> 22:39.200] We were both young when I first saw you.
[22:39.200 -> 22:42.200] That would be jokes.
[22:42.200 -> 22:44.200] Oh my god.
[22:44.200 -> 22:47.000] I don't really know how to feel about it. I had a few people actually
[22:47.000 -> 22:50.960] send me, when it first came out, send me some links about it.
[22:50.960 -> 22:52.760] She is about two foot taller than him.
[22:52.760 -> 22:58.240] Have you seen the photo of them together? Is that photoshopped or is that real?
[22:58.240 -> 23:01.800] Of course it's photoshopped! She hasn't been in the paddock with him!
[23:01.800 -> 23:03.120] Is she not?
[23:03.120 -> 23:04.120] No!
[23:04.120 -> 23:06.000] This would have been a while ago.
[23:06.000 -> 23:07.400] She's an F1 fan, mate.
[23:07.400 -> 23:08.240] She likes F1.
[23:08.240 -> 23:09.080] Does she?
[23:09.080 -> 23:10.640] Yeah, she wrote a song about F1.
[23:10.640 -> 23:12.360] She wrote a song about Fernando Alonso.
[23:12.360 -> 23:13.680] Wait, what?
[23:13.680 -> 23:14.800] Yeah.
[23:14.800 -> 23:16.280] So this could have more links than-
[23:16.280 -> 23:17.600] I did speak to someone about this
[23:17.600 -> 23:19.440] and they said it was actually written about Harry Styles,
[23:19.440 -> 23:22.840] but I don't know what is fake news and what isn't.
[23:22.840 -> 23:25.200] It's just nice to think it could be about Alonso.
[23:25.200 -> 23:28.600] Well, either way, hopefully we can keep you updated on that throughout the season
[23:28.600 -> 23:32.800] if we see any more from Alonso, but that's quite exciting news, isn't it?
[23:32.800 -> 23:35.800] I mean, he did just split up with his long-term girlfriend.
[23:35.800 -> 23:36.800] Yeah, that is sad.
[23:36.800 -> 23:40.800] So, for him to fly straight into something else, that seems pretty quick.
[23:41.800 -> 23:46.760] But anyway, Mercedes, yeah, what I was saying before we got on learning about the Wagoners,
[23:46.760 -> 23:52.280] they were great last weekend and Toto said that they keep evolving. And I have a theory,
[23:52.280 -> 23:57.240] because we're only three races in, right? And there's like 23 races this year. If, sorry,
[23:57.240 -> 24:03.220] 20 to go or something, I have a theory that the next team that wins, so like whether that
[24:03.220 -> 24:05.480] be Aston Martin this weekend, Ferrari
[24:05.480 -> 24:10.680] this weekend, Mercedes this weekend, it might just be Red Bull all year, but if Mercedes
[24:10.680 -> 24:16.360] won, like even this weekend, even Miami, even Imola, like, because it's only going to be
[24:16.360 -> 24:20.880] like five, six races in, they fully could still win the championship.
[24:20.880 -> 24:24.720] It's so easy, isn't it, at the beginning of the year to like get, to get carried away
[24:24.720 -> 24:25.540] and be like, oh, it's Red Bull, Red Bull, Red Bull. Mate, don't forget the wind tunnel the year to like get to get carried away and be like oh it's
[24:25.540 -> 24:27.100] Red Bull, Red Bull, Red Bull. Mate don't forget the
[24:27.100 -> 24:28.300] wind tunnel time that they're going to
[24:28.300 -> 24:29.780] be getting. I know it's going to be a big difference.
[24:29.780 -> 24:31.420] They have so much more wind
[24:31.420 -> 24:33.860] tunnel time than Red Bull. And a bit
[24:33.860 -> 24:35.580] of me is like proper back in Hamilton
[24:35.580 -> 24:37.700] like it's just proper back in Hamilton
[24:37.700 -> 24:39.200] because I really want to just see that
[24:39.200 -> 24:41.580] battle again like I just I would love to
[24:41.580 -> 24:44.060] see Hamilton Verstappen just going at it
[24:44.060 -> 24:45.300] like oh yeah. I'd want to see Fernando in the mix I'd love to see Hamilton Verstappen just going at it like oh, yeah
[24:45.300 -> 24:50.100] I I'd want to see Fernando in the mix. I'd want to see someone else. I'd want to see someone else
[24:50.100 -> 24:54.860] But that's why the podium last race was so good to have three what the world champions on the podium
[24:54.860 -> 25:00.020] How many yeah, that's an Alonso if you can get that like every week. That's pretty special. It's pretty special to see
[25:00.700 -> 25:06.880] Lewis Hamilton go full incognito mode at Silverstone and watch his brother finish
[25:06.880 -> 25:10.280] I believe P6. Did you see that video on Instagram? In the race he was in?
[25:10.280 -> 25:14.760] He was completely covered up. You literally could only see his eyes.
[25:14.760 -> 25:19.560] I know but he also has the most beautiful, recognisable eyes I think I've ever seen in the world.
[25:19.560 -> 25:24.120] That guy could be covered head to toe and if his eyes were out I feel like I
[25:24.120 -> 25:26.120] would know it's him. Yeah you you can tell him from his eyes.
[25:26.120 -> 25:27.800] It must be crazy living a life like that.
[25:27.800 -> 25:29.760] You literally can't even go anywhere.
[25:29.760 -> 25:32.600] Just completely covering up everywhere with his eyes out.
[25:32.600 -> 25:34.640] But amazingly still went.
[25:34.640 -> 25:39.640] Yeah, it's, it must be like unheard of.
[25:39.880 -> 25:41.320] The amount of attention that he must get
[25:41.320 -> 25:43.160] and to have to cover up like that,
[25:43.160 -> 25:44.560] wherever you go is mad.
[25:44.560 -> 25:48.520] But let's go back to his brother, Nicholas Hamilton.
[25:48.520 -> 25:49.800] So he finished in the top 10.
[25:49.800 -> 25:51.720] It was a BTCC race.
[25:51.720 -> 25:52.920] Do you know what that is?
[25:52.920 -> 25:55.880] Sounds like BTCC.
[25:55.880 -> 25:56.720] Yeah.
[25:56.720 -> 25:57.540] No idea.
[25:57.540 -> 25:59.000] British Touring Car.
[25:59.000 -> 26:00.680] British Touring Car Championship.
[26:00.680 -> 26:01.520] Yep.
[26:01.520 -> 26:02.720] He finished P6.
[26:02.720 -> 26:05.060] Now I must admit, I don't know a lot about Nicholas
[26:05.420 -> 26:08.980] So maybe we'll have a full we can have a full conversation about him. Fuck
[26:08.980 -> 26:11.980] I mean, it would be amazing to get him on that'd be amazing. But
[26:13.020 -> 26:17.620] He has a disability and he actually has a modified car that he drives
[26:20.020 -> 26:21.720] Again I don't know enough about this
[26:21.720 -> 26:25.160] So we'll probably have it we should have a full we should dive into this properly at some point
[26:25.160 -> 26:26.920] But for a guy
[26:26.920 -> 26:33.220] You know, and this is me making assumptions for a guy to be told that you know, whatever age he was that he has a disability
[26:33.800 -> 26:38.540] It takes a lot of strength a lot of courage to still try and chase a dream
[26:38.920 -> 26:42.100] Well, I guess most people would assume that you can't do it
[26:42.100 -> 26:46.740] Yeah, if you have a disability and for him to go and get P6 in a race...
[26:46.740 -> 26:47.740] Yeah, it's remarkable.
[26:48.480 -> 26:49.240] Is nuts.
[26:49.500 -> 26:51.540] And that shows to me that this family
[26:51.540 -> 26:55.340] must have like some bionic brain, like mindset.
[26:55.340 -> 26:58.940] Because his brother's like a fucking eight-time world champion.
[26:59.540 -> 27:00.140] And uh...
[27:00.140 -> 27:00.640] Eight?!
[27:01.040 -> 27:01.540] Seven.
[27:01.540 -> 27:03.340] Are we giving him the extra one?
[27:03.340 -> 27:04.340] Sorry, seven.
[27:04.340 -> 27:06.400] You're not the first person to make that mistake.
[27:06.400 -> 27:08.840] It's because Mercedes have eight, right?
[27:08.840 -> 27:11.480] Mercedes have eight constructors.
[27:11.480 -> 27:13.600] Okay, this is all of a sudden
[27:13.600 -> 27:15.600] just turned into absolute shit.
[27:15.600 -> 27:16.960] Is that right?
[27:16.960 -> 27:18.160] No, that's not right.
[27:18.160 -> 27:19.000] Shit.
[27:19.000 -> 27:19.840] That's not right.
[27:19.840 -> 27:20.680] How many have they got then?
[27:20.680 -> 27:21.500] More than that.
[27:21.500 -> 27:23.000] Nine.
[27:23.000 -> 27:23.840] 14.
[27:24.880 -> 27:25.740] Nah, it's wrong.
[27:25.740 -> 27:26.640] It's wrong.
[27:26.640 -> 27:27.880] It's somewhere around that.
[27:27.880 -> 27:28.720] Somewhere around that.
[27:28.720 -> 27:29.900] Ferrari up the most.
[27:29.900 -> 27:31.320] Either way, Lewis has got seven.
[27:31.320 -> 27:32.660] For him to be a seven time,
[27:32.660 -> 27:34.240] can you imagine how proud their parents are?
[27:34.240 -> 27:35.640] I know, incredible man.
[27:35.640 -> 27:37.400] Oh yeah, we'll have to dig into that story
[27:37.400 -> 27:39.520] and if we could get him on the pod, I'm real.
[27:39.520 -> 27:41.240] Mate, oh, I'd love it.
[27:41.240 -> 27:42.160] I'd absolutely love it.
[27:42.160 -> 27:43.000] Yeah, we're gonna-
[27:43.000 -> 27:43.960] Do the people at home wanna hear that?
[27:43.960 -> 27:44.980] Let us know.
[27:44.980 -> 27:49.000] Yeah, and like we said, make sure you message our Instagram, Matt Pitstop, who you'd love to see on the show.
[27:49.000 -> 27:51.000] We want to hear from you guys, we'd love some feedback.
[27:51.000 -> 27:56.000] But yeah, Baku this weekend, Perez loves a street track.
[27:56.000 -> 27:57.000] He does indeed.
[27:57.000 -> 28:01.000] So I feel like we should give some predictions and see how we get on.
[28:01.000 -> 28:09.000] Because in the first half of the season, our predictions have been pretty shit. shit I mean, first race of the season you predicted Oscar Piastri to win
[28:09.000 -> 28:11.400] Oscar Piastri went out after 11 laps
[28:11.400 -> 28:15.800] Look, I was just, I was trying to ride high off our friend Oscar
[28:15.800 -> 28:17.400] What are you feeling about Oscar for this week?
[28:17.400 -> 28:18.000] Um...
[28:18.000 -> 28:19.400] What are you feeling for McLaren?
[28:19.400 -> 28:24.000] I can't really feel anything for McLaren because they haven't had a great car
[28:24.000 -> 28:25.440] and now we've had a month off, so... I don't really feel anything for McLaren. They haven't had a great car, and now we've had a month off.
[28:25.440 -> 28:28.560] So, I don't really know where that leaves them.
[28:28.560 -> 28:29.460] I hope for the best,
[28:29.460 -> 28:31.480] because I do think that those two drivers
[28:31.480 -> 28:33.700] could be a little bit of a dynamic duo.
[28:33.700 -> 28:35.120] We've spoken about it before.
[28:35.120 -> 28:37.400] I mean, even if they're fighting each other,
[28:37.400 -> 28:39.240] that'll be fun, like halfway down the field.
[28:39.240 -> 28:40.720] But I do want to see them at the front a bit more.
[28:40.720 -> 28:42.760] So, honestly, mate, I don't know.
[28:42.760 -> 28:48.200] What I do know is the fact that Fernando Alonso will be in every one of my podium predictions this year
[28:48.200 -> 28:50.960] yeah he's in mine yeah should we work for our top threes?
[28:50.960 -> 28:55.040] let's go for it. I've got mine right here who you going third place? third place
[28:55.040 -> 28:59.160] Fernando Alonso I've also gone third place Fernando Alonso. Have you? second
[28:59.160 -> 29:08.940] place? second place I am going Perez I I've gone Lewis Hamilton. First place? First place. It's pretty
[29:08.940 -> 29:14.520] boring but if I want to actually make a valid prediction I have to pick Max. Okay I've picked
[29:14.520 -> 29:19.920] Perez. Okay. So Max isn't in my top three. Max isn't in your top three. Which is tough
[29:19.920 -> 29:26.080] to do. Really tough to do. You have some insider info. Verstappen won there last year. Perez came second, Russell came third. The year before were stopping one there last year Paris came second Russell came
[29:26.080 -> 29:28.040] third the year before that Paris one
[29:28.040 -> 29:31.200] metal come second Gatsby come third I
[29:31.200 -> 29:33.920] think Paris you know in the last two
[29:33.920 -> 29:36.680] years come second and first Paris is
[29:36.680 -> 29:38.220] definitely good round back who we know
[29:38.220 -> 29:40.160] he loves the street track the Red Bulls
[29:40.160 -> 29:42.920] are the same car I do think Paris is a
[29:42.920 -> 29:44.600] very good driver and I don't think Max
[29:44.600 -> 29:46.720] will get away from Perez.
[29:46.720 -> 29:48.460] Well, if Perez wins it,
[29:48.460 -> 29:51.380] then he will be the first ever driver to win it twice.
[29:52.300 -> 29:53.140] Really?
[29:53.140 -> 29:54.720] There's no driver ever won Baku twice?
[29:54.720 -> 29:56.160] I don't believe so.
[29:56.160 -> 29:58.360] Is that a fab fact or is that a-
[29:58.360 -> 30:01.200] It's a fab interpretation of a fact that I read online.
[30:01.200 -> 30:03.680] It's either no driver has won it twice
[30:03.680 -> 30:05.960] or they've never won it back to back years.
[30:05.960 -> 30:07.320] I'm fairly sure.
[30:07.320 -> 30:09.000] So you say Perez won it.
[30:09.000 -> 30:09.840] Yeah.
[30:09.840 -> 30:10.660] Max won it.
[30:10.660 -> 30:11.500] Yeah.
[30:11.500 -> 30:12.340] Who else has won it?
[30:12.340 -> 30:13.160] I haven't gone back further than 2021,
[30:13.160 -> 30:14.000] unfortunately, my friend.
[30:14.000 -> 30:16.440] All right, well, let's just leave it up to the gods.
[30:16.440 -> 30:17.280] Yeah.
[30:17.280 -> 30:19.020] Let's just see what happens this weekend.
[30:19.020 -> 30:22.360] And bloody hell, well, I guess we'll find out by Monday.
[30:22.360 -> 30:23.200] I can't wait.
[30:23.200 -> 30:25.040] I can't wait to see how the format goes.
[30:25.040 -> 30:26.920] Obviously we'll be back Sunday night, midnight,
[30:26.920 -> 30:29.720] so get ready for your Monday morning walk to work
[30:29.720 -> 30:31.680] or whatever you're doing for your pit stop review
[30:31.680 -> 30:34.220] of how this race format has worked.
[30:34.220 -> 30:36.020] I mean, you can imagine me and Fab watching this
[30:36.020 -> 30:38.360] not having any idea what is going on this weekend,
[30:38.360 -> 30:40.520] so bear with us on Monday.
[30:40.520 -> 30:42.360] Or any weekend.
[30:42.360 -> 30:44.000] Whenever there's a bump for Formula One,
[30:44.000 -> 30:48.760] like I just feel like my brain just loses so much key info,
[30:48.760 -> 30:51.120] but then I hold certain bits of knowledge.
[30:51.120 -> 30:51.960] Do you know what it is?
[30:51.960 -> 30:55.440] It's being able to pull that info.
[30:55.440 -> 30:56.280] When you need it.
[30:56.280 -> 30:59.080] At any moment of time, it is when I struggle.
[30:59.080 -> 31:00.840] We just haven't learned to be able to do that yet.
[31:00.840 -> 31:02.640] But I don't know if most people could do that.
[31:02.640 -> 31:04.400] Like sometimes you're in a certain situation
[31:04.400 -> 31:06.420] and bam, suddenly it just comes to your brain you're like oh I know
[31:06.420 -> 31:10.560] that like I remember that because I learned that two years ago but sometimes
[31:10.560 -> 31:13.940] like in the moment when you have to know something it just kind of slips your
[31:13.940 -> 31:17.780] brain. Yeah different people consume the sport differently to everyone else as
[31:17.780 -> 31:22.440] well though we're just we watch it as fans at home as the average person you
[31:22.440 -> 31:26.480] know just sat on the sofa watching it like you would with your family and then we go and talk about it.
[31:26.480 -> 31:29.960] So we don't know the minor little details.
[31:29.960 -> 31:33.080] I've been watching Damon Hill cause mate.
[31:33.080 -> 31:35.480] He's out with Naomi Schiff on a tour of Baku today.
[31:35.480 -> 31:36.880] He's been given a tour of Baku.
[31:36.880 -> 31:37.720] I didn't know,
[31:37.720 -> 31:40.960] I didn't know he was a bit of a fucking ocean demon, mate.
[31:40.960 -> 31:42.600] How would we describe ocean demons?
[31:42.600 -> 31:43.800] He surfs.
[31:43.800 -> 31:45.400] Oh, I thought you meant when he was racing.
[31:45.400 -> 31:49.000] No, his car always ended up in the Monaco Bay.
[31:49.000 -> 31:50.000] No, he um...
[31:50.000 -> 31:52.400] 1996 world champion, just in case you forgot that.
[31:52.400 -> 31:54.200] There you go, he did retain some facts.
[31:54.200 -> 31:55.600] Yeah, a year or so.
[31:55.600 -> 31:58.000] I can't believe how good he is at surfing, mate.
[31:58.000 -> 32:01.800] I just saw a picture of him surfing and I thought, that's rad.
[32:01.800 -> 32:06.560] And then I go for YouTube like before the pod and he's gone surfing with Gasly and Max and... Can't imagine David El Surfer to be fair, that's rad. And then I go for YouTube, like before the pod, and he's gone surfing with Gasly and Max.
[32:06.560 -> 32:09.720] Can't imagine David L. surfing to be fair, but fair play.
[32:09.720 -> 32:11.660] But all I've heard for the last,
[32:11.660 -> 32:13.080] because we've had Australia,
[32:13.080 -> 32:14.900] and then we've got Miami coming up,
[32:14.900 -> 32:16.320] shark infested waters, mate.
[32:16.320 -> 32:17.800] All right, there's a lot of sharks.
[32:17.800 -> 32:19.120] Hamilton said he saw sharks.
[32:19.120 -> 32:20.080] Yeah.
[32:20.080 -> 32:22.120] What's Damon Hill going out there
[32:22.120 -> 32:24.920] and fucking surfing in the ocean for?
[32:24.920 -> 32:25.840] We need him!
[32:25.840 -> 32:27.840] Okay, Damon, don't be so selfish!
[32:27.840 -> 32:29.840] Damon would donk a shark!
[32:29.840 -> 32:31.840] He would take a shark right out!
[32:31.840 -> 32:35.160] I've heard, by the way, what you should do if you're in the water and a shark comes at you.
[32:35.160 -> 32:35.880] Poke him in the eye.
[32:35.880 -> 32:38.720] No, you just literally hold them off. It's so basic.
[32:38.720 -> 32:42.520] So, I've seen a video that apparently if you're in the water and a shark's coming at you,
[32:42.520 -> 32:46.000] you just put your arm on the top of their mouth, like on their upper lip.
[32:46.000 -> 32:47.760] So you're watching the same video that I watched.
[32:47.760 -> 32:49.280] Because you're literally just pushing yourself away.
[32:49.280 -> 32:52.000] I don't know if that works in every shark scenario.
[32:53.040 -> 32:57.600] Well, I like to think that I have some kind of idea what to do if I ever fall off the pedalo.
[32:57.600 -> 33:01.520] Someone said you just have to go near their eyes because they obviously use their eyes to hunt,
[33:01.520 -> 33:06.520] and if they can't see anymore, then I don't know why we're trying to figure out how to save your shark.
[33:06.520 -> 33:09.520] But also apparently you shouldn't swim away. You're meant to like...
[33:09.520 -> 33:10.520] Just fucking swim head first, Eddie.
[33:10.520 -> 33:11.520] I know that kind of sounds kind of hard.
[33:11.520 -> 33:13.520] Take the shark on head first. Come here, motherfucker.
[33:13.520 -> 33:18.020] But otherwise they see you as prey, they see you as like food because you're swimming away.
[33:18.020 -> 33:20.520] So you're meant to kind of like sit there and then when they come up to you,
[33:20.520 -> 33:23.020] because they won't attack unless they know you're food.
[33:23.020 -> 33:26.880] So originally if you're just still, I don't know why we're talking about this,
[33:27.080 -> 33:31.040] but apparently if anyone's been in any shark attacks, feel free to
[33:31.240 -> 33:32.080] to let us know.
[33:32.280 -> 33:33.000] Let us know. Yeah.
[33:33.200 -> 33:37.040] Apparently, if you're still, they'll just come up to you and like figure you out.
[33:37.040 -> 33:39.000] And that's when you can just put your arm
[33:39.000 -> 33:41.040] on their like top of their mouth and push them away.
[33:41.040 -> 33:42.800] And they like get the idea kind of thing.
[33:42.800 -> 33:46.480] Well, if I learn anything from Nemo, it's like don't just don't bleed.
[33:46.480 -> 33:48.480] Make sure you're not bleeding because they sniff that shit out.
[33:48.480 -> 33:50.480] Yeah, blood is the worst thing with sharks.
[33:50.480 -> 33:52.480] Well there you go ladies and gentlemen.
[33:52.480 -> 33:54.480] Clownfish for dinner boys!
[33:54.480 -> 33:57.200] Listen to a Pitstop podcast, I hope you've learned something today.
[33:57.200 -> 34:00.600] If you haven't learned anything about Formula 1, you may have learned how to save your life
[34:00.600 -> 34:02.600] in a life-threatening situation in the sea.
[34:02.600 -> 34:04.600] In shark-infested waters.
[34:04.600 -> 34:07.800] So yeah, this podcast is worth it, if you ask me.
[34:07.800 -> 34:09.960] Ladies and gentlemen, we will be back Sunday midnight,
[34:09.960 -> 34:12.820] ready for next week with our race review.
[34:12.820 -> 34:15.840] We hope everyone enjoys Baku race weekend.
[34:15.840 -> 34:17.760] I hope Perez wins.
[34:17.760 -> 34:19.720] Fab's hoping for Alonso on the podium again.
[34:19.720 -> 34:20.760] That would be incredible.
[34:20.760 -> 34:21.600] I am, I am.
[34:21.600 -> 34:23.360] And I'm also really looking forward
[34:23.360 -> 34:24.920] to Monaco in a few weeks' time.
[34:24.920 -> 34:28.660] But that's, you know, we've got a few races to get through first so let's see
[34:28.660 -> 34:31.380] how that plays out. Let's see how that plays out thank you very much for
[34:31.380 -> 34:36.440] listening to the Pit Stop podcast and we'll see you guys soon. Bye bye.
