[01:36.240 -> 01:44.000] the unthinkable the pit stop boys have finally got two f1 drivers not just one not just one
[01:44.000 -> 01:50.840] we've got two f1 drivers on the podcast and arguably two of the best guys that we could have hand selected
[01:50.840 -> 01:57.980] It's the scuderia ferrari drivers carlos sainz and charles leclerc. I cannot believe we had them on the podcast like
[01:58.520 -> 02:02.560] This is unbelievable. I cannot wait for you guys to hear this massive
[02:02.560 -> 02:05.640] Shout out to shell for making this possible like they got us out here
[02:05.640 -> 02:10.200] To amsterdam we went down to the beach house. Yeah, well, let's let's set the scene absolutely amazing
[02:10.200 -> 02:15.160] Let's give the guys like a little mental image in their head. So yeah, thanks for shell for bringing us out
[02:15.160 -> 02:17.600] It was amazing. We're out here in a it
[02:17.600 -> 02:23.800] Well, I'm actually in amsterdam right now doing this from the hotel room, but they had like an amazing beach house on Zambia
[02:24.280 -> 02:27.280] Yeah, it was really cool. The beach is unreal by the way. Yeah the beach is
[02:27.280 -> 02:30.520] beautiful. I didn't even know there was a beach in Amsterdam. I know and it's been
[02:30.520 -> 02:33.760] like blazing heat all week so we couldn't have asked for anything better.
[02:33.760 -> 02:37.240] Get down to the beach house wasn't really sure what to expect and they had
[02:37.240 -> 02:40.720] this like amazing setup with like a load of cool stuff to do. There were some
[02:40.720 -> 02:44.640] Sims there. There was an F1 car there. And Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were there.
[02:44.640 -> 02:49.280] Yeah I know I know. So we rocked up we saw the lads stood there. There was an F1 car there. And Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were there. Yeah I know, I know. So we rocked up, we saw the lads stood there,
[02:49.280 -> 02:53.200] these two lads that we see on TV and they're now like within like reaching distance of
[02:53.200 -> 02:56.600] us which is pretty nuts. I can't believe it. And then we got all our camera gear out, we
[02:56.600 -> 03:03.320] set up and we got ready to do a Pit Stop podcast episode with the two Ferrari drivers. Shell
[03:03.320 -> 03:07.000] you absolute legends, thank you so much for giving us this opportunity.
[03:07.000 -> 03:09.360] I can only hope that one day we can get them back
[03:09.360 -> 03:10.660] and do a longer episode.
[03:10.660 -> 03:12.500] Like I'd love to sit down with them for ages,
[03:12.500 -> 03:13.340] you know what I mean?
[03:13.340 -> 03:14.240] I'd have so much to talk to them.
[03:14.240 -> 03:15.560] But they're busy people.
[03:15.560 -> 03:17.960] Yeah, but I'd have so much I'd love to ask them.
[03:17.960 -> 03:19.960] I'm surprised they even have time to do this kind of stuff.
[03:19.960 -> 03:22.760] Like they're racing, like that's such an intense job.
[03:22.760 -> 03:24.360] It's just so amazing being around them.
[03:24.360 -> 03:26.320] Like they're so funny and hearing their voices.
[03:26.320 -> 03:30.080] And then there's hundreds of fans outside the beach house just screaming and shouting
[03:30.080 -> 03:33.920] their names the whole time. We're just there waiting to film with them. I've never been
[03:33.920 -> 03:37.840] more nervous for anything in my life. I didn't sleep the night before this.
[03:37.840 -> 03:42.160] No, I know. I literally was laying in bed just trying to picture every single scenario.
[03:43.600 -> 03:45.280] I was so nervous and if you watched the
[03:45.280 -> 03:49.120] YouTube video back in this you'd definitely see my hand shaking for hours. I was like oh my god
[03:49.120 -> 03:54.000] it's the Ferrari drivers. Yeah it was it was nuts man. I don't really want to say any more,
[03:54.000 -> 03:58.800] should we just fly straight into it? Yeah ladies and gentlemen the episode I'm most proud of yet
[03:58.800 -> 04:03.920] to date it's the Ferrari drivers on Pitstop podcast. We hope you enjoy it.

[04:04.200 -> 04:05.200] One day I will sing.
[04:05.200 -> 04:06.200] No need to ask, it's a smooth operator.
[04:06.200 -> 04:07.200] Smooth.
[04:07.200 -> 04:08.200] Say my name, say my name.
[04:08.200 -> 04:09.200] Are we good?
[04:09.200 -> 04:10.200] Yeah, go.
[04:10.200 -> 04:11.200] You good boys?
[04:11.200 -> 04:12.200] We're good.
[04:12.200 -> 04:13.200] Quality, let's do it.
[04:13.200 -> 04:14.200] Yes, guys, welcome back.
[04:14.200 -> 04:15.200] We are here on the beautiful coast of Zandvoort.
[04:15.200 -> 04:16.200] The sun's out and shining.
[04:16.200 -> 04:17.200] We're at the Shell Beach House.
[04:17.200 -> 04:18.200] And we're here, I can't quite remember the name of it.
[04:18.200 -> 04:19.200] I think it's the Shell Beach House.
[04:19.200 -> 04:20.200] I don't know.
[04:20.200 -> 04:21.200] I think it's the Shell Beach House.
[04:21.200 -> 04:22.200] I don't know.
[04:22.200 -> 04:23.200] I don't know.
[04:23.200 -> 04:24.200] I don't know.
[04:24.200 -> 04:25.680] I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Quality, let's do it. Yes guys, welcome back. We are here on the beautiful coast of Zandvoort,
[04:25.680 -> 04:27.060] the sun's out and shining.
[04:27.060 -> 04:29.560] We're at the Shell Beach House and we're here,
[04:29.560 -> 04:30.940] I can't quite believe I'm saying this,
[04:30.940 -> 04:34.080] but we're here with the Scuderia Ferrari boys,
[04:34.080 -> 04:35.760] Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz.
[04:35.760 -> 04:38.480] Let's go, thank you for being here, woo!
[04:38.480 -> 04:41.840] The one and only, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
[04:41.840 -> 04:44.720] Let's go, our first ever F1 drivers on the podcast.
[04:44.720 -> 04:45.000] Oh nice! This is amazing, big first ever F1 drivers on the podcast. Oh nice!
[04:45.000 -> 04:46.000] This is amazing, big moment for us.
[04:46.000 -> 04:47.000] Yeah, pioneers.
[04:48.000 -> 04:49.000] Yeah, how are you guys?
[04:49.000 -> 04:52.000] Very good, very good, feeling ready for this weekend.
[04:52.000 -> 04:53.000] Yeah, it's going to be a great weekend.
[04:53.000 -> 04:54.000] It's such a beautiful location.
[04:54.000 -> 04:58.000] It feels a bit more like a holiday mood than a race weekend mood here, but...
[04:58.000 -> 04:59.000] That's always good.
[04:59.000 -> 05:00.000] Beautiful.
[05:00.000 -> 05:02.000] I'll put the sunglasses because I've got the sun right in my face.
[05:03.000 -> 05:07.120] I want to go straight in with a question that we have wanted to ask F1 drivers.
[05:07.200 -> 05:08.200] You're our first ones.
[05:08.280 -> 05:11.400] Did you both pass your driving test first time?
[05:11.480 -> 05:12.960] Like, when you did your driving test?
[05:13.040 -> 05:14.120] You were first time?
[05:14.200 -> 05:17.800] I did, and actually I had so much pressure, like crazy,
[05:17.880 -> 05:20.520] because I was like, I'm a racing driver.
[05:20.600 -> 05:21.720] Did he know, though?
[05:21.800 -> 05:23.360] Yes, he knew.
[05:23.440 -> 05:25.400] But if I do a mistake then...
[05:25.400 -> 05:29.840] Why is pressure then? For sure he was like, it's a Formula 1 driver.
[05:29.840 -> 05:33.120] Yeah but still... I mean Monaco is quite tricky.
[05:33.120 -> 05:36.080] Your test was in Monaco, yeah. Yeah in the middle of Monaco so it's very
[05:36.080 -> 05:40.720] tricky because you've got all the cars going right, left, people crossing the roads so...
[05:40.720 -> 05:45.200] But you know the streets very well. I do and I had it the first time so it was all good.
[05:45.200 -> 05:50.040] Okay that's good to know, first time no problem at all then. Yeah smashed it lads. What does it feel like to drive for
[05:50.040 -> 05:55.480] statistically the best Formula One team of all time? It's honestly it's a dream
[05:55.480 -> 05:59.480] come true since you are very little and I don't know how long you guys been
[05:59.480 -> 06:05.000] following Formula One but... Started at the end of last year. I heard not very long, I heard, someone told me,
[06:05.240 -> 06:09.800] but I've been following Formula One since I can recall,
[06:09.800 -> 06:11.880] basically since I'm five, six years old.
[06:11.880 -> 06:14.520] I remember watching races with my dad when I was 10,
[06:14.520 -> 06:17.240] and already back then you felt like Scuderia Ferrari
[06:17.240 -> 06:20.600] was that bit more special compared to the other teams.
[06:20.600 -> 06:21.880] There was like something going on,
[06:21.880 -> 06:28.120] and I decided one day I wanted to be Formula One champion or Formula One driver and I always you always want
[06:28.120 -> 06:32.600] to drive for Ferrari one day and when you achieve it is like you've made it
[06:32.600 -> 06:37.120] finally like a dream come true. Life goal. And Shell have been a partner with
[06:37.120 -> 06:40.600] Ferrari since the dawn of Formula One does it feel like you have a proper
[06:40.600 -> 06:49.320] family vibe with everyone within Ferrari and Shell? Yeah definitely, I mean obviously it's such a long partnership, they started working together
[06:49.320 -> 06:50.320] in 1950.
[06:50.320 -> 06:51.320] It's amazing how long it's been going.
[06:51.320 -> 06:57.400] Yeah, since 1951 really, so there's a lot of experience, a lot of work behind the scene
[06:57.400 -> 06:59.560] and a very close relationship.
[06:59.560 -> 07:04.240] We work a lot with the two engineers that are following us throughout the season, sometimes
[07:04.240 -> 07:08.000] there are three from Shell, and we are working together all the time
[07:08.000 -> 07:12.280] trying to give them the feedback of what we would like.
[07:12.280 -> 07:14.800] And yeah, and they help us to perform at our best.
[07:14.800 -> 07:15.360] So it's great.
[07:15.360 -> 07:16.560] That was the next question we had.
[07:16.560 -> 07:18.840] We wanted to say about, you know, the people behind the scenes
[07:18.840 -> 07:20.120] that don't usually get in the limelight.
[07:20.120 -> 07:24.080] Like, do you work closely with the people behind the scenes from Shell and all that stuff?
[07:24.080 -> 07:32.000] Yeah, you guys cannot imagine, we don't only have more than 1,100 people back at the factory in Ferrari, Maranello,
[07:32.000 -> 07:38.000] but we also have partners like Shell that have a lot of people back in their base in Hamburg and here in the Netherlands
[07:38.000 -> 07:49.520] working to give us the best possible material to work with, like it's the fuel and the lubricants and what Charles was talking about you know they perform I think it's one million simulations this
[07:49.520 -> 07:56.080] year to try and come up with the best possible mix of fuel and mix of oil to bring it here to
[07:56.080 -> 08:00.080] a track and for us to then have a reliable engine and a performing engine of course.
[08:01.360 -> 08:05.160] Well lads I've seen online that you you guys like a bit of golf as far
[08:05.160 -> 08:10.400] as I'm aware. Some more than others. Yeah well I like golf I'm just I'm just very
[08:10.400 -> 08:16.440] bad at it so I don't play that often Carlos enjoys it more because he plays
[08:16.440 -> 08:21.000] much better yeah but but I still play sometimes. He can hit the ball.
[08:21.000 -> 08:24.560] What other hobbies do you have because we're terrible at golf. Paddle. We love paddle.
[08:24.560 -> 08:25.600] We play each other paddle a lot. Is that with a bat and a board? He can hit the ball. What other hobbies do you have? Because we're terrible at golf. Paddle. We love paddle.
[08:25.600 -> 08:26.600] We go play each other paddle a lot.
[08:26.600 -> 08:27.600] You paddle?
[08:27.600 -> 08:28.600] Is that with a bat and a board?
[08:28.600 -> 08:30.600] That's like a tennis ball.
[08:30.600 -> 08:31.600] Okay.
[08:31.600 -> 08:32.600] A tennis court, but with walls.
[08:32.600 -> 08:33.600] Okay, yeah, yeah.
[08:33.600 -> 08:34.600] Oh, like squash?
[08:34.600 -> 08:35.600] You must have seen this.
[08:35.600 -> 08:36.600] It's a mix of squash and tennis.
[08:36.600 -> 08:37.600] It's what I was trying to explain to you.
[08:37.600 -> 08:38.600] Oh, yeah, yeah.
[08:38.600 -> 08:39.600] I was trying to figure out what it was.
[08:39.600 -> 08:40.600] No, it's really, really nice.
[08:40.600 -> 08:41.600] You should try it if you've never done it.
[08:41.600 -> 08:42.600] Yeah, I've never tried that.
[08:42.600 -> 08:43.600] It's a beautiful place to be racing this weekend.
[08:43.600 -> 08:45.080] What are the pre-race rules? I was trying to figure out what it was. No, it's really, really nice. You should try it if you've never done it.
[08:45.080 -> 08:46.160] Yeah, I've never tried that.
[08:46.160 -> 08:49.060] It's a beautiful place to be racing this weekend.
[08:49.060 -> 08:50.760] What are the pre-race rituals?
[08:50.760 -> 08:53.120] What do you do before you go out on that track?
[08:54.640 -> 08:57.040] I have quite a lot of things that I do,
[08:57.040 -> 08:59.640] especially this year I've introduced a cold bath.
[08:59.640 -> 09:01.040] I have got a cold bath.
[09:01.040 -> 09:04.040] Yeah, I've got a cold bath at the track,
[09:04.040 -> 09:05.480] especially for hot races.
[09:05.480 -> 09:10.560] I think some drivers do that, Carlos and I do that, and we just get into the cold bath
[09:10.560 -> 09:16.080] to lower the body temperature, so once we get into the car it's extremely warm.
[09:16.080 -> 09:20.360] You sweat a lot, but if you do the cold bath before, it helps you actually to feel much
[09:20.360 -> 09:22.880] better inside the car.
[09:22.880 -> 09:25.080] And then just a normal physical warmup you do
[09:25.080 -> 09:27.080] for the neck, for the shoulders,
[09:27.080 -> 09:29.360] mostly for the upper parts,
[09:29.360 -> 09:31.320] to be ready whenever you get into the car.
[09:31.320 -> 09:32.240] How about you Carlos?
[09:32.240 -> 09:35.280] Same, I also do the cold bar like he mentioned.
[09:36.200 -> 09:37.960] It helps you, what he said,
[09:37.960 -> 09:40.000] it's like you jump in the car feeling a bit cold.
[09:40.000 -> 09:43.320] That is perfect because normally when we jump in the car,
[09:43.320 -> 09:45.440] we're already sweating and we haven't even started the race
[09:45.440 -> 09:48.200] because it's really warm inside the overalls.
[09:48.200 -> 09:49.880] That's why there's someone standing there with a fan, right?
[09:49.880 -> 09:51.040] Yeah, always there's a fan in there
[09:51.040 -> 09:52.440] because we have the engine behind
[09:52.440 -> 09:55.360] and the engine is always 100 degree plus.
[09:55.360 -> 09:56.200] Blimey.
[09:56.200 -> 09:58.560] It's very warm in there, trust me.
[09:58.560 -> 10:00.200] So the cold bath really helps to,
[10:00.200 -> 10:02.720] even if it's mental, to just feel a bit cooler
[10:02.720 -> 10:04.040] before a hot race.
[10:04.040 -> 10:05.160] And then I do a bit of boxing feel a bit cooler before a hard race and then I do
[10:05.160 -> 10:09.960] a bit of boxing a bit of reactions with balls and what else do I do?
[10:09.960 -> 10:14.360] I forgot now. I don't know, don't ask. I warm up my neck.
[10:14.360 -> 10:17.360] Football sometimes we do together. Sometimes we play football.
[10:17.360 -> 10:19.960] With some keepy-uppies in it. Sorry, keepy-uppies.
[10:19.960 -> 10:29.260] Yeah, I mean we are not that good but I'm getting better. I'm actually playing better with my racing shoes at football than with actual
[10:29.780 -> 10:33.280] Shoes, they're really good to to play football
[10:34.000 -> 10:36.000] That's crazy
[10:39.440 -> 10:41.440] Smart shoes where you can chip them up
[10:42.560 -> 10:45.000] Like the sport has changed so much recently.
[10:45.000 -> 10:48.000] Like, Drive to Survive has pretty much, to me,
[10:48.000 -> 10:50.000] I think it's changed everything about the sport.
[10:50.000 -> 10:52.000] Are you fans because of Drive to Survive?
[10:52.000 -> 10:54.000] It definitely got us into it.
[10:54.000 -> 10:55.000] I'll tell you what we loved about it,
[10:55.000 -> 10:57.000] it was just getting to know the drivers
[10:57.000 -> 10:58.000] and getting to know their personalities
[10:58.000 -> 11:00.000] and see how hard it is.
[11:00.000 -> 11:01.000] Yeah, sure.
[11:01.000 -> 11:03.000] How hard it is going through the training and everything,
[11:03.000 -> 11:07.120] how stressful it is travelling around the world all the time. Does it feel different to you at a race weekend now,
[11:07.120 -> 11:09.120] compared to what it was like before Drive to Survive?
[11:09.120 -> 11:10.880] Oh, you cannot imagine.
[11:10.880 -> 11:12.480] Before Drive to Survive, there were...
[11:13.440 -> 11:16.240] There's always people, but the intensity of the fans
[11:16.240 -> 11:19.200] was nothing close to what we live now.
[11:19.200 -> 11:21.200] Like, all these people that you see here,
[11:21.200 -> 11:24.320] we just came to do an event here with Shell, as you guys know,
[11:28.640 -> 11:33.120] and there's little by little people that you see here we just came to do an event here with Shell as you guys know and there's little by little people that thanks to social media they accumulate and now when we leave it's it's fully there's I don't
[11:33.120 -> 11:36.760] know how many people imagine 300 400 people waiting for us out here you know
[11:36.760 -> 11:41.760] and... thousand, four hundred thousand... maybe I don't know there's not there was
[11:41.760 -> 11:50.640] you didn't leave it no because you were not No, I got to Formula One in 2018, so that's exactly the first year where Drive to Survive was starting.
[11:50.640 -> 11:54.240] Where I saw the biggest step was mostly in the US.
[11:54.240 -> 11:55.840] Like, in the US it's incredible.
[11:55.840 -> 12:00.240] The first years, there weren't that many people watching Formula One there.
[12:00.240 -> 12:04.240] Also in the streets, we could have a normal life in the US.
[12:04.240 -> 12:05.000] Can't anymore.
[12:05.000 -> 12:07.000] And now it's crazy.
[12:07.000 -> 12:12.000] Now the restaurants in Austin and Miami, I remember before the race in Miami on Saturday night,
[12:12.000 -> 12:16.000] I went out to have a steak, like a dinner, no?
[12:16.000 -> 12:20.000] And the whole restaurant when I entered stood up and started applauding me.
[12:20.000 -> 12:22.000] That's a rider!
[12:22.000 -> 12:28.800] He finished his play. It actually, thank you for the American fans because they make you feel
[12:29.520 -> 12:33.680] like that, no? Like I didn't expect going into a restaurant suddenly everyone pointing
[12:33.680 -> 12:39.680] at Carlos Sainz, everyone, Carlos Sainz, and I'm like, they make you feel great and I loved it and
[12:39.680 -> 12:44.960] in Austin and Miami it's been like that and it's crazy. With the fans all over the world now,
[12:44.960 -> 12:45.080] is there one place over the world now,
[12:45.080 -> 12:47.080] is there one place in the world in particular
[12:47.080 -> 12:49.120] that you'd love to race that you haven't?
[12:50.640 -> 12:53.560] Honestly, I would love to go to Africa one day.
[12:53.560 -> 12:55.240] Yeah, that would be great, wouldn't it?
[12:55.240 -> 12:56.080] That would be amazing.
[12:56.080 -> 12:58.880] I think there were some rumors, now I don't know,
[12:58.880 -> 13:01.120] I've heard it's not so much likely anymore.
[13:01.120 -> 13:03.160] I don't know, we wouldn't know.
[13:03.160 -> 13:06.000] Well, I don't know, it's from the social media that I say that so I
[13:06.000 -> 13:09.440] don't really know. I really hope though that one day we'll be able to race there.
[13:09.440 -> 13:15.120] Yeah. And Vegas. Vegas is gonna be interesting one I think. Going back to
[13:15.120 -> 13:19.200] food, you said you just had a steak. You're known as the chili man and
[13:19.200 -> 13:22.240] apparently you didn't like spicy food but we wanted to know whether you
[13:22.240 -> 13:27.080] actually started eating spicy food yet or not. I'm actually starting to get a bit more into it.
[13:27.080 -> 13:30.460] I used to hate it, but then little by little I started to,
[13:30.460 -> 13:33.040] but they don't call me Chilli because I like spicy food.
[13:33.040 -> 13:35.380] They call me Chilli because my friends,
[13:35.380 -> 13:37.120] I guess one night on a night out,
[13:37.120 -> 13:40.000] they decided to call me Chilli out of nowhere.
[13:40.000 -> 13:42.320] I don't know, Carlos, Charlie, Chilli.
[13:42.320 -> 13:44.640] It ended up being Chilli, but don't ask me how.
[13:44.640 -> 13:45.960] But spicy food a bit, I'm starting know, Carlos, Charlie, Chili. It ended up being Chili, but don't ask me how.
[13:47.600 -> 13:51.560] Spicy food a bit. I'm starting to put a bit of chili oil,
[13:51.560 -> 13:52.600] spicy oil in the pizza.
[13:52.600 -> 13:53.440] On the pizza, yeah.
[13:53.440 -> 13:54.260] It gives it a bit of a kick.
[13:54.260 -> 13:55.100] Oh man, that's the one.
[13:55.100 -> 13:56.760] That sometimes I like.
[13:56.760 -> 13:58.360] Yeah, but not a lot of it.
[13:58.360 -> 14:01.560] Mexican food, I like it a lot, but not very spicy.
[14:01.560 -> 14:04.780] As we know, the Shell and Scuderia Ferrari partnership,
[14:05.040 -> 14:09.640] 10 Constructors' titles, twelve Drivers Championships, what do you think is the
[14:09.640 -> 14:17.160] key to that success working as a team? Well I think, I mean I think people
[14:17.160 -> 14:22.080] underestimate how much work behind the scene there is, I've got a number
[14:22.080 -> 14:26.080] that comes to my head is 21,000 man-hours invested in the development
[14:26.080 -> 14:34.600] of the fuel and oil that we use in our Formula 1 car, which is 99% exactly the same fuel
[14:34.600 -> 14:36.160] that you will get then in your road car.
[14:36.160 -> 14:40.460] So all of these things make it super interesting for both sides.
[14:40.460 -> 14:46.120] For Shell it's super interesting to be able to develop fuel and oil in Formula 1 that they can use in road cars and
[14:46.800 -> 14:50.040] Obviously for us we are supported by the best in that
[14:50.600 -> 14:54.720] That will help us to then perform and have the reliability that we want on track. Yeah
[14:55.600 -> 14:57.440] Well final question guys
[14:57.440 -> 15:03.960] They're always con everyone's constantly pushing to make the sport more eco-friendly. I know Shell and Ferrari are doing that as well
[15:03.960 -> 15:07.800] So, where do you see the cars in like 10 years' time?
[15:07.800 -> 15:09.800] What do you think they're going to look like in terms of
[15:09.800 -> 15:12.800] their efficiency, the engine, what they look like in general?
[15:12.800 -> 15:17.800] Well, I think there was the new 2026 engines coming out.
[15:17.800 -> 15:23.800] They're going to try and be fully sustainable, all running in eco-fuels.
[15:23.800 -> 15:26.400] And I think this is the right direction to go.
[15:26.400 -> 15:34.640] I mean if we can keep that level of competition in the car where the engines are still 1000hp plus
[15:34.640 -> 15:40.560] but then it's all sustainable, I think it's the best combination possible and I think the sport
[15:40.560 -> 15:45.360] is not going to lose anything and it's just going to gain sustainability and prospects for the future.
[15:45.360 -> 15:48.200] So I hope we can keep it that way.
[15:48.200 -> 15:52.000] Obviously we will work hard with our partner Shell to develop the most efficient but at
[15:52.000 -> 15:56.120] the same time powerful engine in that regard.
[15:56.120 -> 16:00.480] This year for example we already adapted, we already had to go 10% more ethanol in the
[16:00.480 -> 16:05.000] fuel and it's already happening, that transition.
[16:05.000 -> 16:12.500] And for 2030, we will all be sustainable, but already 2026 is another big step with the new engines.
[16:12.500 -> 16:14.000] Great. Amazing.
[16:14.000 -> 16:17.000] Well, guys, it's been absolutely wonderful having you here with us.
[16:17.000 -> 16:18.000] Yeah, thanks so much for joining us.
[16:18.000 -> 16:18.500] Thank you.
[16:18.500 -> 16:20.000] I hope you have a great time here in Amsterdam.
[16:20.000 -> 16:22.500] Enjoy the sun, beautiful track, beautiful place.
[16:22.500 -> 16:23.500] Are you going to be around all week?
[16:23.500 -> 16:26.400] Yeah, we're going to be around. We're're gonna be wandering in and out of the paddock.
[16:26.400 -> 16:27.900] See you everyone, can't wait.
[16:27.900 -> 16:29.060] It's gonna be a great weekend.
[16:29.060 -> 16:30.400] Nice, see you guys then.
[16:30.400 -> 16:31.240] Nice one guys.
[16:31.240 -> 16:32.060] See you there.
[16:32.060 -> 16:32.900] Bye.
[16:32.900 -> 16:33.740] Have a good one.
[16:33.740 -> 16:35.580] Well there we have it boys and girls.
[16:35.580 -> 16:38.180] It was short, it was sweet, but it was absolutely amazing.
[16:38.180 -> 16:40.140] I can't believe we were joined by these two legends.
[16:40.140 -> 16:41.620] My favorite line right at the end,
[16:41.620 -> 16:43.700] we'll see you around the paddock then.
[16:43.700 -> 16:46.880] The fist bumps are absolutely ready.
[16:48.000 -> 16:48.800] They are indeed.
[16:49.920 -> 16:51.520] I just wish we had longer with them,
[16:51.520 -> 16:54.480] like I wish more than anything that we can get these guys back.
[16:54.480 -> 16:56.560] Do you know what though, I feel like, you know,
[16:56.560 -> 16:58.880] this is the first time that we've had them on.
[16:58.880 -> 17:00.800] They're gonna come on again, I know they are.
[17:00.800 -> 17:03.440] We can't be doing like a big episode like with them straight away
[17:03.440 -> 17:04.640] because then we'd have nothing to talk about.
[17:04.640 -> 17:06.560] We have to give the people a little teaser
[17:06.840 -> 17:11.540] Yeah, we give them a little bit of flavor and I don't know next time we have him on
[17:11.540 -> 17:13.800] We just know it's gonna be you know another great app
[17:13.800 -> 17:19.720] Yeah, next time my ham won't be shaking which is gonna be so much better because the mic is just shaking in my hand
[17:19.720 -> 17:25.760] I love the way Carlos has just sat there singing as well. Smooth Bob Ray, I say my name, you say my name.
[17:25.760 -> 17:26.600] I know, what a legend.
[17:26.600 -> 17:27.960] He's such a funny guy.
[17:27.960 -> 17:30.640] I feel like, it's one of those ones where,
[17:30.640 -> 17:32.500] you know, they're just like lads,
[17:32.500 -> 17:33.400] like they're just the boys.
[17:33.400 -> 17:35.420] They're like similar age to us.
[17:35.420 -> 17:37.440] And I know that like we'll have like, you know,
[17:37.440 -> 17:38.680] a great relationship with these guys
[17:38.680 -> 17:40.480] and any time that we work with them
[17:40.480 -> 17:41.640] it's gonna be really good.
[17:41.640 -> 17:44.120] I think I was just a bit nervous in the beginning,
[17:44.120 -> 17:48.220] do you know what I mean? Yeah, well this was a big thing for us, I mean we've had some
[17:48.220 -> 17:53.040] really cool guests on this podcast but this is the Ferrari drivers, like these
[17:53.040 -> 17:57.480] are some of the biggest names in the world of motorsport and they're sat in
[17:57.480 -> 18:03.760] front of us. It's not easy to comprehend going through this situation and like I
[18:03.760 -> 18:09.500] said I didn't sleep the night before. I know, I know. I would never really can I mean there's a
[18:09.500 -> 18:12.940] difference between like podcasting with your mate and then like you know
[18:12.940 -> 18:17.280] essentially interviewing like two of the biggest stars in the world. I wasn't sure
[18:17.280 -> 18:20.940] how I was gonna handle it but I think it went okay. Well the Shell team very much
[18:20.940 -> 18:23.640] helped when we introduced them and everyone clapped and cheered it made me
[18:23.640 -> 18:26.720] feel like I was on like a TV show TV show and everyone was there with us.
[18:26.720 -> 18:29.760] It's like that little hint of what we want, right? The Pit Stop show.
[18:29.760 -> 18:30.960] I know, having everyone there.
[18:30.960 -> 18:32.080] The crowd of people and that.
[18:32.080 -> 18:37.120] I think that made it a bit easier, but then at the same time, I had to forget everyone
[18:37.120 -> 18:41.600] was there. And then halfway through, if you listen carefully, you just hear all the fans
[18:41.600 -> 18:47.160] that were waiting outside the beach, because you can imagine how many people like saw them down in the Shell Beach House
[18:47.160 -> 18:48.280] and wanted to get photos.
[18:48.280 -> 18:52.240] And fair play to them, because after our podcast,
[18:52.240 -> 18:54.480] they went and took photos of loads of fans
[18:54.480 -> 18:55.320] down on the beach.
[18:55.320 -> 18:56.480] They were down there for ages.
[18:56.480 -> 18:57.960] Like, I love that.
[18:57.960 -> 19:00.000] Like, they come here and,
[19:00.000 -> 19:01.840] because they haven't raced in the Netherlands for a while,
[19:01.840 -> 19:02.680] have we?
[19:02.680 -> 19:04.200] They only came back last year in 2021.
[19:04.200 -> 19:05.360] So there's so many fans in there
[19:05.360 -> 19:06.360] for we wanted to see them.
[19:06.360 -> 19:09.420] And so, you know, yeah, I'm really excited about it.
[19:09.420 -> 19:10.260] Yeah, I know.
[19:10.260 -> 19:11.080] Like I said before,
[19:11.080 -> 19:12.400] these guys are like the biggest stars in the world,
[19:12.400 -> 19:14.920] but when you like really break it down and get down to it,
[19:14.920 -> 19:16.760] they are just two normal guys.
[19:16.760 -> 19:18.000] And like, I think, you know,
[19:18.000 -> 19:20.240] hopefully the people who have just listened to this podcast
[19:20.240 -> 19:22.120] can get a sense of that,
[19:22.120 -> 19:24.280] that they are just like, you know, normal dudes.
[19:24.280 -> 19:25.500] You hear it when they're like joking about it.
[19:25.500 -> 19:31.200] Obviously they're not normal dudes, right, they're unbelievable in a car, but they are, they are just like lads.
[19:31.200 -> 19:35.400] You hear it when they're like talking about golf, and they're joking and they're looking at each other like,
[19:35.400 -> 19:40.700] and they're just saying how Sainz is really good and Leclerc says he's not very good at golf,
[19:40.700 -> 19:45.880] and then, you know, Sainz is saying he plays like paddle, have now researched paddle, know what it is.
[19:45.880 -> 19:48.560] At the time he said it, I was like, what is paddle?
[19:48.560 -> 19:51.760] So from what I gather, it's like tennis,
[19:51.760 -> 19:53.280] but you play with like a wooden bat
[19:53.280 -> 19:54.640] rather than a tennis racket.
[19:54.640 -> 19:55.480] Yeah.
[19:55.480 -> 19:56.300] And there's walls around.
[19:56.300 -> 19:58.680] So I'm assuming the ball can bounce off the walls.
[19:58.680 -> 19:59.960] I wonder who his partner is,
[19:59.960 -> 20:01.480] because I think it's a two player game.
[20:01.480 -> 20:02.880] I don't know, I watched them.
[20:02.880 -> 20:04.480] Do you reckon him and Charles take it on together?
[20:04.480 -> 20:06.440] Well, I watched Charles play it with his brothers.
[20:06.440 -> 20:11.000] Oh, okay, so Charles and Sainz maybe are a duo partnership in the paddle court.
[20:11.000 -> 20:13.080] God, what a force to be reckoned with.
[20:13.080 -> 20:15.040] Jake and Fab versus...
[20:15.040 -> 20:17.680] Imagine we took them on at that.
[20:17.680 -> 20:21.720] You know what I found really interesting is when Carlos was talking about...
[20:21.720 -> 20:24.640] You know, when we asked the question about what do you do before a race,
[20:24.640 -> 20:26.020] and he says the ice bath and that,
[20:26.020 -> 20:29.640] but he's like, I do a bit of boxing, play a bit of football.
[20:29.640 -> 20:31.240] I've seen a clip of them playing football,
[20:31.240 -> 20:32.600] I think with Alonso.
[20:32.600 -> 20:33.440] Oh really?
[20:33.440 -> 20:34.640] Could be wrong, but I'm thinking they had
[20:34.640 -> 20:37.080] a little bit of football with Alonso.
[20:37.080 -> 20:38.960] And he says he's better in the race shoes.
[20:38.960 -> 20:40.920] Because they are actually great shoes
[20:40.920 -> 20:41.760] for football to be fair.
[20:41.760 -> 20:43.520] It's funny what you said about the school shoes.
[20:43.520 -> 20:46.080] Because as soon as you said that that I clocked straight away.
[20:46.080 -> 20:47.960] Like I remember when we used to go to school,
[20:47.960 -> 20:49.960] you had those shoes which went really flat at the end.
[20:49.960 -> 20:51.880] Oh mate, you could get a volley with them.
[20:51.880 -> 20:54.120] Bro, you could chip that ball anywhere.
[20:54.120 -> 20:56.560] Hearing you talk about football absolutely kills me.
[20:56.560 -> 20:59.160] And I actually remember you playing football in school.
[20:59.160 -> 21:01.280] And I just, it just reminded me of my brother.
[21:01.280 -> 21:02.960] Like a little bit, like someone who doesn't
[21:02.960 -> 21:03.800] ever play football.
[21:03.800 -> 21:06.160] It just looks like so static
[21:06.160 -> 21:07.000] when he runs towards the ball.
[21:07.000 -> 21:07.820] And he's like, yeah, yeah.
[21:07.820 -> 21:08.660] You're talking about static.
[21:08.660 -> 21:09.500] I'm not telling people.
[21:09.500 -> 21:11.880] Tell people about that goal you got once.
[21:11.880 -> 21:12.720] Okay.
[21:12.720 -> 21:14.000] Because you got that one that you never shut up about.
[21:14.000 -> 21:16.320] Yeah, well, we had an AstroTurf at school
[21:16.320 -> 21:17.840] and like from end to end,
[21:17.840 -> 21:19.280] it was like a full-size football pitch,
[21:19.280 -> 21:22.040] but then they also had goals like width ways, right?
[21:22.040 -> 21:23.760] So you could play smaller games.
[21:23.760 -> 21:25.240] When we was, I was on the other end,
[21:25.240 -> 21:29.140] other side of this pitch and I smashed this ball
[21:29.140 -> 21:31.000] and I got it in the goal.
[21:31.000 -> 21:33.120] I don't know if the goalkeeper, there was a goalkeeper.
[21:33.120 -> 21:34.800] It still goes on about it today.
[21:34.800 -> 21:36.360] I don't know if he tried to save it or not,
[21:36.360 -> 21:38.000] but they went in the goal and I'm taking it.
[21:38.000 -> 21:39.900] One of the greatest goals of all time.
[21:40.740 -> 21:43.120] Oh my God, I love what you still go on about it.
[21:43.120 -> 21:45.120] I love the way they said they had the bath for the race
[21:45.120 -> 21:46.840] and it just made me think like,
[21:46.840 -> 21:48.200] I wonder what that actually looks like.
[21:48.200 -> 21:51.220] I wonder whether it's like a real bath or like,
[21:51.220 -> 21:52.920] is it just like a box that they sit in?
[21:52.920 -> 21:55.240] Like I imagine it being like a bin.
[21:55.240 -> 21:56.880] Like a bin you'd like sit in.
[21:56.880 -> 21:57.880] Quite honest with you.
[21:57.880 -> 21:59.960] Do you reckon they have a full-size bath in the motorhomes?
[21:59.960 -> 22:01.240] I reckon they have a full-size bath.
[22:01.240 -> 22:02.560] What, and someone fills it with ice?
[22:02.560 -> 22:03.380] Yeah, man.
[22:03.380 -> 22:04.920] Mate, I could have done with one this weekend.
[22:04.920 -> 22:06.360] It's been so hot.
[22:06.360 -> 22:07.840] Yeah, well that's when you said.
[22:07.840 -> 22:10.040] If we could have just like gone up to like the race
[22:10.040 -> 22:11.760] and just got a quick ice bath
[22:11.760 -> 22:13.080] before doing the rest of our day,
[22:13.080 -> 22:14.440] that would have been unbelievable.
[22:14.440 -> 22:15.600] It does make perfect sense though,
[22:15.600 -> 22:17.200] because when you do see the drivers walking
[22:17.200 -> 22:18.920] through the paddock and it's really hot
[22:18.920 -> 22:20.280] and they're like in their whole race suit,
[22:20.280 -> 22:21.160] they've got everything on,
[22:21.160 -> 22:22.600] you look at them and think,
[22:22.600 -> 22:24.120] you know, I'm sat there and I'm melting
[22:24.120 -> 22:26.280] and I look at them and I think, how are they doing that?
[22:26.280 -> 22:27.120] They must be so hot.
[22:27.120 -> 22:29.640] But if they've had the ice bath before,
[22:29.640 -> 22:31.640] they're gonna be like quite chilled, quite cold.
[22:31.640 -> 22:35.120] Yeah, cool down like your core temperature, I guess.
[22:35.120 -> 22:36.840] And you know, like when you're like wet
[22:36.840 -> 22:39.760] and then you get a fan on you, it's like, feels really cold.
[22:39.760 -> 22:41.440] That's basically what happens in the car, isn't it?
[22:41.440 -> 22:43.800] Cause there'll be like a little bit like damp.
[22:43.800 -> 22:44.640] I guess.
[22:44.640 -> 22:46.040] It's funny how much we learn.
[22:46.040 -> 22:48.040] Like I've seen drivers before
[22:48.040 -> 22:50.520] and they're wearing like a coat before the race
[22:50.520 -> 22:51.920] and it would be like a blazing hot day.
[22:51.920 -> 22:53.980] And I'm like, man, why are you wearing a coat
[22:53.980 -> 22:56.080] like over your race suit?
[22:56.080 -> 22:58.200] But it must be because they've just had an ice bath.
[22:58.200 -> 22:59.040] Yeah.
[22:59.040 -> 23:00.180] So I guess it makes sense.
[23:00.180 -> 23:02.560] It's interesting also to hear what they say about America
[23:02.560 -> 23:05.040] and Drive Survive and how it's changed everything for them
[23:11.280 -> 23:16.360] Because they they have they are massive celebrities all over the world as we know just from being scuderia Ferrari drivers But my god that the fact that America the sport has blown up there now
[23:16.440 -> 23:18.440] They used to be able to just go out there
[23:18.800 -> 23:24.360] And now everyone is stopping them and Carlos's story is absolutely nuts like imagine a couple years ago
[23:24.360 -> 23:25.920] He would have walked into a restaurant and like he
[23:25.920 -> 23:27.920] said like people might not have known who he was.
[23:27.920 -> 23:30.160] And he walked into a restaurant.
[23:30.160 -> 23:31.680] Imagine me and you walked into a restaurant here.
[23:31.680 -> 23:35.480] Imagine we go out for dinner tonight, we walk into a restaurant, we're just like, can we
[23:35.480 -> 23:37.120] get a table for two please?
[23:37.120 -> 23:39.760] We get taken to our table and everything goes silent.
[23:39.760 -> 23:43.000] The music stops and everyone just stands up and just claps.
[23:43.000 -> 23:44.880] And everyone's just staring at us.
[23:44.880 -> 23:45.120] I don't know about you bro, but that happens whenever I go out for dinner all the time. and everyone just stands up and just claps. And everyone was just staring at us.
[23:45.120 -> 23:45.960] I don't know about you bro,
[23:45.960 -> 23:48.600] but that happens whenever I go out for dinner all the time.
[23:48.600 -> 23:49.440] Do you not get that?
[23:49.440 -> 23:52.520] No, that hasn't actually started happening for me yet,
[23:52.520 -> 23:53.360] to be honest.
[23:53.360 -> 23:54.280] No, it's cool.
[23:54.280 -> 23:57.460] You definitely do see it in, like, you saw it at Miami.
[23:57.460 -> 24:00.280] That mean, we didn't go to Miami, but we saw it on TV
[24:00.280 -> 24:02.440] and the whole thing just looked nuts.
[24:02.440 -> 24:03.280] Yeah.
[24:03.280 -> 24:04.620] Like the amount of celebrities that were there,
[24:04.620 -> 24:06.920] it was like the whole event was crazy.
[24:06.920 -> 24:09.440] And I think more races will turn out like that.
[24:09.440 -> 24:10.920] You know, next year, I think next year
[24:10.920 -> 24:12.680] is going to be absolutely wild.
[24:12.680 -> 24:14.840] I can't believe that we have been given
[24:14.840 -> 24:15.980] the opportunity to do this.
[24:15.980 -> 24:17.800] I think the sport has changed so much
[24:17.800 -> 24:20.080] and I feel like you and me are now part of it.
[24:20.080 -> 24:21.680] Yeah, well, yeah, definitely.
[24:21.680 -> 24:24.280] And just going back to what you said about like America
[24:24.280 -> 24:28.280] and the races next year, the fact that they're both excited for Vegas and Vegas is coming up.
[24:28.840 -> 24:35.800] That to hear like drivers be excited about it excites me, because I am so excited about it.
[24:35.840 -> 24:37.360] Vegas, man.
[24:37.840 -> 24:41.280] Vegas is gonna be a serious, serious trip.
[24:41.320 -> 24:45.380] After listening back to that pod, I just have like a thousand more questions for them though.
[24:45.380 -> 24:48.760] So like Charles, Carlos, if you're listening,
[24:48.760 -> 24:50.580] can we have an hour please?
[24:50.580 -> 24:52.060] Can we have an hour?
[24:52.060 -> 24:54.340] Is there any way you could squeeze an hour in, all right?
[24:54.340 -> 24:57.100] We'll get you your favorite food, we'll get you drinks.
[24:57.100 -> 24:58.260] We can get you whatever you want.
[24:58.260 -> 25:00.440] Yeah, we'll order a lot of Mexican food.
[25:00.440 -> 25:02.300] We won't make it too spicy.
[25:02.300 -> 25:03.900] We'll run you a nice ice bath.
[25:03.900 -> 25:07.840] Honestly, game of paddle, anything you possibly want.
[25:07.840 -> 25:10.520] On a level though, I'd actually love to like go play golf
[25:10.520 -> 25:13.160] with the lads because I think they'd just be cracking up
[25:13.160 -> 25:14.380] at how bad we are.
[25:15.960 -> 25:17.800] I honestly can't even hit the ball.
[25:17.800 -> 25:20.960] I think it's crazy that you guys right now have been
[25:20.960 -> 25:23.280] on this journey of us Pit Stop listeners.
[25:23.280 -> 25:27.240] And we've always said that we wanted to get a current F1 driver on the podcast. The fact that
[25:27.240 -> 25:33.280] we've had two on this episode is all thanks to Shell Motorsport and for
[25:33.280 -> 25:37.040] bringing us on this trip to Amsterdam. It's absolutely incredible to be here.
[25:37.040 -> 25:40.760] I still can't quite believe it, you know, posting the photos and posting the videos
[25:40.760 -> 25:45.560] from this interview, like as if we got that chance, I just hope we get it again.
[25:45.560 -> 25:46.860] It's truly humbling.
[25:47.760 -> 25:50.720] You don't expect like your first time
[25:50.720 -> 25:53.800] doing something like this to be with the giants.
[25:53.800 -> 25:57.560] Like the fact that Shell, you know, big,
[25:57.560 -> 25:59.240] I mean, you see Shell everywhere.
[25:59.240 -> 26:00.960] Yeah, it's so true.
[26:00.960 -> 26:02.320] I mean, I can only speak from us,
[26:02.320 -> 26:04.160] like being in the UK and stuff like that,
[26:04.160 -> 26:05.160] but Shell have
[26:05.160 -> 26:06.760] been absolutely everywhere my whole life.
[26:06.760 -> 26:10.000] Well I remember when we were new fans and we were playing the game Guess the Sponsor
[26:10.000 -> 26:14.760] in the Ferrari Car, the first one I was like, yeah, Shell, because you just know it's there.
[26:14.760 -> 26:19.640] Yeah, yeah, it's, I really have no words to be honest man, I just want to thank Shell
[26:19.640 -> 26:25.360] for giving us the opportunity to do this, It's mad. It's absolutely mad.
[26:25.360 -> 26:30.080] Fingers crossed, one day we will have the Ferrari guys back.
[26:30.080 -> 26:30.920] It is funny though,
[26:30.920 -> 26:32.360] because we've thrown in the deep end, right?
[26:32.360 -> 26:35.380] One driver would have been hard enough,
[26:35.380 -> 26:38.560] but two of them, but we did say it was made a bit easier
[26:38.560 -> 26:41.000] by the fact that we were there, like together.
[26:41.000 -> 26:42.400] Imagine it was one of us.
[26:42.400 -> 26:46.040] Oh yeah, we kind of went through the scenarios
[26:46.040 -> 26:47.660] of like what if one of us fell ill
[26:47.660 -> 26:49.480] and the other guy had to do it on their own
[26:49.480 -> 26:52.120] and I was like, Jake, you can't,
[26:52.120 -> 26:55.320] like if I had to do it, then I would like
[26:55.320 -> 26:57.440] muster it up and do it, but I really just,
[26:57.440 -> 26:59.160] I need my buddy by myself.
[26:59.160 -> 27:01.200] I need my buddy bro there with me, you know?
[27:01.200 -> 27:05.520] I think one Formula One driver would have been petrifying, two Formula
[27:05.520 -> 27:12.360] One drivers is absolutely couldn't even sleep but they will come back! Maybe I shouldn't
[27:12.360 -> 27:15.800] announce that now we don't 100% know they're gonna come back. Bro the amount of times we've
[27:15.800 -> 27:18.840] announced stuff that we don't even know is gonna happen. So we might as well just announce
[27:18.840 -> 27:21.840] it then. But it usually does anyway. Yeah let's just announce it then. Wait have you
[27:21.840 -> 27:26.480] noticed how I'm holding this mic by the way way? Yeah, it's cool. Yeah, Carlos was holding the mic like this.
[27:26.480 -> 27:29.000] Yeah, we're actually using the mics that they use.
[27:29.000 -> 27:31.240] It's actually, it doesn't hurt your hand as much this way.
[27:31.240 -> 27:32.920] Charles Leclerc has held this mic.
[27:32.920 -> 27:36.400] If I actually smell the mic, it actually smells amazing.
[27:36.400 -> 27:37.240] Yeah?
[27:37.240 -> 27:38.080] Yeah.
[27:38.080 -> 27:39.760] It really does, man.
[27:39.760 -> 27:41.000] Mine smells like chilies.
[27:41.000 -> 27:41.920] Nice.
[27:41.920 -> 27:42.760] And lemon and herb.
[27:42.760 -> 27:47.160] Guys, thank you so much for listening to this episode.
[27:47.160 -> 27:50.240] We really hope you've enjoyed it as much as we did filming it.
[27:50.240 -> 27:51.800] It's been a long time coming.
[27:51.800 -> 27:53.560] It's cool as well, because it's a bonus episode.
[27:53.560 -> 27:55.200] You guys are still going to get the rest of the episodes
[27:55.200 -> 27:58.000] you normally get every Monday, every Thursday.
[27:58.000 -> 27:58.720] Absolutely.
[27:58.720 -> 28:00.440] This trip has been mad for us.
[28:00.440 -> 28:02.640] We haven't been able to put out as much content as you wanted,
[28:02.640 -> 28:04.080] because we're on the road.
[28:04.080 -> 28:07.020] So it's not as easy to edit videos and edit podcasts and stuff
[28:07.020 -> 28:12.060] but hey I think this makes up for it. Yeah I still can't believe it thank you
