Briana and Nicole are in Austin in every way…except physically that is. The COTA FOMO is real! With the United States Grand Prix this weekend Briana and Nicole reminisce on their trip to COTA in 2022. How is the 2022 USGP closely connected to the creation of Grid Walk?

Alright so it is time for Grid Walk to address the elephant in the room from the Qatar Grand Prix. There was some on track drama for Mercedes F1 Team on the Losail International Circuit. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell had a collision at Turn 1 of the Qatar GP. Briana and Nicole are not shy about being Lewis Hamilton fans so they needed some time to “chill” before addressing the collison.

At this point, it is impossible to deny that the FIA treats Lewis Hamilton differently from other F1 drivers. Briana and Nicole discuss the FIA reopening the investigation into Lewis Hamilton for crossing the track at the Qatar GP. Is the FIA able to reopen an investigation like this? Is the FIA really just trying to focus on the betterment of safety in motorsports or is the FIA considering other factors?

Daniel Ricciardo is making his return to the F1 grid…again! For the second time in the F1 2023 season DR3 is making his F1 return in the Alpha Tauri. Daniel Ricciardo has been out since the Hungarian GP due to a broken hand. Austin is the perfect place for Daniel Ricciardo to come back to the F1 grid and it is only right that Daniel Ricciardo releases a merchandise line full of Austin vibes! What is it about Daniel Ricciardo’s merchandise for the 2023 USGP that makes it stand out? How is Daniel Ricciardo trying to appeal to female F1 fans?

There has been a crazy amount of F1 news! Even more investors are getting their piece of the Alpine F1 Team! This time the Alpine F1 Team is welcoming Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes as new investors? Netflix announced its first live sporting event with a Driver to Survive and Full Swing crossover event! Will Netflix be able to live up to the hype and expectations? Scuderia Ferrari has released “football” jerseys for the United States Grand Prix, what?? How did Scuderia Ferrari hit and miss the mark at the same time with these jerseys? NETFLIX GOLD

Briana and Nicole continue their F1 predictions battles as they attempt to predict the United States Grand Prix! Will Mclaren F1 Team be able to maintain their momentum? Will Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri make it on the podium in Austin? Will Scuderia Ferrari have better luck at COTA than they did at Qatar? Which F1 team will come out on top during the F1 Sprint Race?

Austin also has the return of F1 Academy for the final race weekend of 2023! Somehow Briana and Nicole are TIED in their F1 Academy picks?? Will Marta García solidify the championship this weekend? Will either Léna Bühler or Hamda Al Qubaisi catch up? How will the first real F1 Academy broadcast go?

[00:00.000 -> 00:04.000] Um, we didn't discuss a cold open, but I have my formation lap ready.
[00:05.280 -> 00:06.280] If you would like to do that.
[00:06.280 -> 00:07.160] Start up the show.
[00:07.560 -> 00:08.480] Da da da da.
[00:10.560 -> 00:15.640] Things that are taking up my brain right now are Philly's Red October,
[00:16.720 -> 00:19.040] disassociating with the Eagles loss.
[00:19.600 -> 00:23.000] So I don't have a lot of space in here for a creative cold open, other
[00:23.000 -> 00:24.320] than like, happy COTA week.
[00:25.360 -> 00:29.680] Thank goodness. No, not thank goodness for coda because we're not there but thank goodness
[00:29.680 -> 00:36.720] for coda for every other reason. I am literally in Austin in every way except physically.
[00:38.160 -> 00:46.160] Just so sad. And I was reminiscing this weekend about how the Phillies were making their playoff run
[00:46.160 -> 00:52.440] this time last year, and we sat at the bar and watched the Phillies destroy San Diego,
[00:52.440 -> 00:55.040] and that made those other people very sad but me very happy.
[00:55.040 -> 00:59.120] I don't know, just so many good Coda memories.
[00:59.120 -> 01:06.320] I'm so jealous of everyone who's going.
[01:08.560 -> 01:12.720] Well, because it's CODA, and it does seem like F1 ramps up news excitement
[01:12.720 -> 01:15.260] and things around the USGP,
[01:16.480 -> 01:18.160] we have a rapid fire formation lap
[01:18.160 -> 01:19.960] of everything we're gonna cover on the show today.
[01:19.960 -> 01:22.420] And I was going for quick and brief,
[01:22.420 -> 01:23.520] and there's a lot here
[01:23.520 -> 01:26.160] because we are gonna talk about a lot today.
[01:26.160 -> 01:27.000] So we're gonna start the show
[01:27.000 -> 01:28.820] by finally addressing the elephant in the room.
[01:28.820 -> 01:32.400] The Mercedes drivers might have had a bit of a collision
[01:32.400 -> 01:33.480] on the track last week
[01:33.480 -> 01:35.920] and it might've been very intentional
[01:35.920 -> 01:37.720] that we didn't talk about it last week
[01:37.720 -> 01:39.640] and kinda just left it as the elephant in the room,
[01:39.640 -> 01:41.240] which is a bit that would've worked better
[01:41.240 -> 01:43.040] if I remembered to edit the elephant
[01:43.040 -> 01:44.480] into the YouTube video.
[01:44.480 -> 01:52.720] So apologies for that. But we finally are a little tiny bit less emotional about it and we will
[01:52.720 -> 01:57.600] attempt to keep that cool when discussing the potential after effects heading into the USGP
[01:57.600 -> 02:07.760] this week and the lingering vendetta of the FIA against Lewis Hamilton. Also, we're going to switch things to be more positive.
[02:07.760 -> 02:10.440] And Nicole is going to have a whole soapbox about the fact
[02:10.440 -> 02:13.800] that Daniel Ricciardo is back in the car again.
[02:13.800 -> 02:19.040] For the second time this week, we can say DR3 is back.
[02:19.040 -> 02:20.840] But this one was a little more expected,
[02:20.840 -> 02:22.840] so we're not doing a surprise bonus pod.
[02:22.840 -> 02:23.360] Woo!
[02:23.360 -> 02:28.740] Instead, we're just going to be excited on the normal pod. F1 has a bunch of business news that's come out this
[02:28.740 -> 02:32.900] week and really it's just giving us an excuse to talk more about Travis Kelsey. Among other
[02:32.900 -> 02:41.100] things, but mostly Travis Kelsey. The full idea of this podcast was formed at the USGP
[02:41.100 -> 02:46.380] last year, so we're gonna finally give you the full origin story of Gridwalk and talk about our experience at the GP last year.
[02:46.920 -> 02:49.720] Aka one of the best weekends of my entire life.
[02:50.440 -> 02:56.360] And because this episode isn't full enough, we have to preview and attempt to predict the USGP.
[02:56.360 -> 02:59.960] Also, F1 Academy is back for their final race of the season.
[02:59.960 -> 03:04.860] So we get you caught up in everything that's happened on the season so far, make our predictions for their...
[03:07.880 -> 03:14.000] make our predictions for their race. That was a mouthful and the sentence I wrote on my formation left didn't make sense.
[03:14.000 -> 03:16.800] So I will move on from that.
[03:16.800 -> 03:20.400] But we're very excited that the F1 Academy is officially going to be broadcast.
[03:20.400 -> 03:23.200] They've also recently announced some big karting news,
[03:23.200 -> 03:25.600] as well as their schedule for next year.
[03:25.600 -> 03:26.960] So we're going to touch on all of those things.
[03:26.960 -> 03:30.560] Lastly, as always, we end the show with Yellow Sector Notes, one story you should know from
[03:30.560 -> 03:32.880] every single team on the grid.
[03:32.880 -> 03:36.160] That wraps up the Formation Lab for episode 39 of GridWalk.
[03:36.160 -> 03:37.880] Episode 44 is fast approaching.
[03:37.880 -> 03:41.280] I am so excited to see what we decide to do for it.
[03:41.280 -> 03:46.060] But GridWalk is a weekly Formula 1 podcast that believes there are fascinating stories to discuss
[03:46.060 -> 03:47.520] across the entire F1 grid.
[03:47.520 -> 03:49.220] Please don't forget to like and subscribe
[03:49.220 -> 03:50.480] if you're watching on YouTube.
[03:50.480 -> 03:52.040] Leave us a comment.
[03:52.040 -> 03:55.160] Maybe tell us some tips for attending Grand Prix's
[03:55.160 -> 03:58.280] for anyone who's attending the USGP this weekend.
[03:58.280 -> 04:00.120] Or just talk to us about Travis Kelsey.
[04:00.120 -> 04:02.520] Both will leave me equally excited.
[04:02.520 -> 04:04.920] But also, if you're listening on an audio platform,
[04:04.920 -> 04:05.000] please hit the Follow button. Turn on auto downloads. I can't even begin to tell you just how much a download means. Both will leave me equally excited. But also, if you're listening on an audio platform,
[04:05.000 -> 04:07.000] please hit the follow button, turn on auto-downloads.
[04:07.000 -> 04:09.500] I can't even begin to tell you just how much a download means.
[04:09.500 -> 04:13.000] I don't care if you download it and then just delete it immediately off your phone.
[04:13.000 -> 04:15.000] That download really, really matters.
[04:15.000 -> 04:17.000] And also, leave us a review.
[04:17.000 -> 04:21.000] All of these things that I just yammered about really help support the show.
[04:22.000 -> 04:28.080] Cold ground, I lined up on the grid, it's lights out and away we go on this week's grid block.
[04:29.760 -> 04:30.260] Well.
[04:32.560 -> 04:33.600] We have to talk about it.
[04:35.920 -> 04:36.320] I don't-
[04:36.320 -> 04:40.000] Yeah, we were like really gonna like, you know, elephant in the room it,
[04:41.040 -> 04:48.520] but eventually planned to address it, but now is the time and a little less angry.
[04:48.520 -> 04:53.620] I'm thinking that we're just like emotional sports fans that can only emotion for so much
[04:53.620 -> 05:00.400] and we can just, you know, fill in, make room for other emotions this past weekend to be
[05:00.400 -> 05:01.640] able to discuss this.
[05:01.640 -> 05:06.000] That's Nicole's really kind way of saying that the Eagles lost last weekend.
[05:06.000 -> 05:10.000] Therefore, I only can be sad about so many sports things at once.
[05:10.000 -> 05:15.000] And therefore I am ready to discuss the Lewis Hamilton and George Russell collision.
[05:15.000 -> 05:17.000] Exactly.
[05:17.000 -> 05:20.000] The other elephant in the room this week.
[05:20.000 -> 05:22.000] Woo!
[05:22.000 -> 05:26.320] Also, disclaimer, if you're watching on YouTube and you all of a sudden see my eyes just dart off,
[05:27.200 -> 05:32.080] it's because the Phillies game is on right now. You know, behind the curtain here, this is Tuesday
[05:32.640 -> 05:38.880] and the Phillies are currently playing. So I'm a bit distracted. But unless you were living under
[05:38.880 -> 05:44.240] a rock at the previous Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell kind of took each other out.
[05:45.200 -> 05:47.200] Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell kind of took each other out. Turn one.
[05:47.200 -> 05:55.200] It wasn't great and it didn't make the watching experience particularly fun for me, a Lewis Hamilton fan.
[05:55.200 -> 05:57.200] Mm-mm.
[05:57.200 -> 06:05.360] I will always be amazed that Lewis Hamilton is just a better person than everyone else. And
[06:05.360 -> 06:12.760] that was my big takeaway from all of this is that that man is... it just has a
[06:12.760 -> 06:20.160] level of... I'm sure he has an ego, but his ability to even just take full credit
[06:20.160 -> 06:24.640] for something, even if he doesn't actually need to take full credit for it,
[06:24.640 -> 06:29.560] just for the sake of doing it, is just, he's just a better person than I am.
[06:29.560 -> 06:31.600] And I feel like I say that a lot about Lewis Hamilton.
[06:32.120 -> 06:37.240] That's exactly what I was going to say is he did exactly what I wouldn't have done
[06:37.280 -> 06:40.160] or did it a lot faster than I would have done it.
[06:41.120 -> 06:47.000] Unfortunately, I think it's just like, what he's used to doing and he's a good person.
[06:47.000 -> 06:48.000] Yeah.
[06:48.000 -> 06:51.000] Grumpy, grumpy, grumpy, trying to be less grumpy.
[06:51.000 -> 06:52.000] Right.
[06:52.000 -> 06:55.000] I...
[06:55.000 -> 07:00.000] Um, how do I say this nicely?
[07:00.000 -> 07:08.040] Um, as a Lewis Hamilton fan, I can fully admit when Lewis is in the wrong. I do think by
[07:08.040 -> 07:15.560] the letter of the law, this collision was Lewis's fault. What I don't appreciate are
[07:15.560 -> 07:22.520] the people extrapolating this into thinking that Lewis or promoting that Lewis is a dirty
[07:22.520 -> 07:26.800] driver in any way, and seem to give other drivers passes
[07:26.800 -> 07:30.120] for doing the same or worse things on track,
[07:30.120 -> 07:32.340] I don't appreciate the double standard,
[07:32.340 -> 07:35.000] which is also why, like, also behind the curtain,
[07:35.000 -> 07:39.120] like, why I don't appreciate or lean into doing segments
[07:39.120 -> 07:40.920] that are super critical of Lewis Hamilton
[07:40.920 -> 07:47.280] is because that kinda just ends up in a pile of fodder of parties who
[07:48.080 -> 07:54.800] don't have the best intentions and are piling on Lewis because they don't like Lewis versus like
[07:54.800 -> 08:00.000] critical thought. So it's like, I don't have a lot I can add to this. Like yeah, Lewis technically
[08:00.000 -> 08:05.760] made a mistake on track. Technically there's rumors that George probably should have just let
[08:05.760 -> 08:12.960] him go. And that was decided by the team ahead of time. I don't really feel the need to pile on Lewis
[08:14.560 -> 08:22.240] for any of this. I don't know. How do you feel? Yeah, I think to your point of certain online
[08:22.240 -> 08:28.240] discourse gets very interesting when like other drivers can be in like one scenario and it becomes like,
[08:28.240 -> 08:32.800] Oh, this is just one of the incidents of racing or the consequences of being a racing driver.
[08:32.800 -> 08:41.960] And then like, for Lewis, it seems like it was so much more just like he was out to get George or it was totally his fault.
[08:41.960 -> 08:49.620] He just doesn't know what he's doing And he's like so many ways of blowing out of proportion when I think in other circumstances. It wouldn't have been as
[08:52.340 -> 08:55.940] Intense as I mean as blown out of proportion
[08:56.260 -> 09:03.160] Right you could definitely see that different lens that he consistently has and everything he does put like
[09:03.860 -> 09:06.800] on it. Oh that's my puppy.
[09:06.800 -> 09:14.540] Yeah, Harper's also really upset that George's second cousin is running the Mercedes social
[09:14.540 -> 09:17.780] media accounts.
[09:17.780 -> 09:18.780] Which is not real but...
[09:18.780 -> 09:19.780] Hello puppy!
[09:19.780 -> 09:23.280] Oh Harper, she's in the playtime.
[09:23.280 -> 09:26.980] Hey, if you go watch us on YouTube, you get to see a puppy
[09:36.980 -> 09:43.900] Harper's not normally here. Well, we record I just got too emotional and started moving and emoting too much and she was like something's happening
[09:43.200 -> 09:46.160] got too emotional and started moving and emoting too much and she was like, something's happening! I need to fix it!
[09:48.240 -> 09:52.960] Okay, apologies. You were responding to my thing and I didn't even hear you.
[09:54.640 -> 09:58.880] This is our last, like, annoying topic of the show rundown today.
[09:59.840 -> 10:04.800] And this one I just feel like there's not much to say about. Like, at this point, if you,
[10:02.840 -> 10:09.600] And this one I just feel like there's not much to say about. Like, at this point, if you, collective person listening to this or seeing this on social media,
[10:11.200 -> 10:15.880] are denying that the FIA does not treat Lewis Hamilton differently
[10:16.440 -> 10:19.680] than every other driver team person on the grid,
[10:20.400 -> 10:22.920] I don't know how to convince you of it anymore.
[10:22.920 -> 10:25.600] Like, it just... it is what it is.
[10:25.600 -> 10:32.000] FIA is reopening the investigation of Lewis, walking across the track at Qatar, blah blah blah.
[10:32.000 -> 10:33.040] That's your TLDR.
[10:33.040 -> 10:35.920] Whoa! I didn't know they could do that.
[10:35.920 -> 10:39.600] Are they allowed to reopen mistakes they made?
[10:39.600 -> 10:46.040] You know, because during the weekend, they said that, like, like there was gonna be no further investigation
[10:46.040 -> 10:47.260] and that there was no reason to look into it,
[10:47.260 -> 10:48.900] but then they reopened it back up.
[10:48.900 -> 10:51.460] I thought they said they can't do that, Nicole.
[10:53.620 -> 10:56.920] But everything's made up and the points don't matter.
[10:56.920 -> 10:59.560] FIA can do what they want.
[11:01.180 -> 11:09.360] I want to, and this is me just looking to be an optimist think that this is just for the betterment of
[11:10.020 -> 11:14.180] Safety and it's more just gonna be like a meeting of like let's not do that
[11:14.180 -> 11:18.460] Just so they can say like let's not do that now. Do I believe that's what this is? No
[11:19.280 -> 11:22.980] But that's what I want to put out into the universe, but I know that's not what this is. I
[11:24.840 -> 11:31.400] That's what I want to put out into the universe, but I know that's not what this is. I don't have anything productive to say that I think should be recorded on our podcast.
[11:31.400 -> 11:32.400] Thank you.
[11:32.400 -> 11:33.400] Bye.
[11:33.400 -> 11:34.400] Danny Rigged is back.
[11:34.400 -> 11:40.000] For the second time this season.
[11:40.000 -> 11:44.000] I can't believe this is what this season turned out as.
[11:44.000 -> 11:45.680] I can. It's like the most season turned out as. I can.
[11:47.860 -> 11:48.080] It's like the most F1 thing in the whole world.
[11:52.080 -> 11:52.320] What do you mean we get to celebrate Danny Rick being back twice?
[11:54.200 -> 11:57.960] That's unbelievable.
[11:59.680 -> 12:00.040] I get to be happy twice.
[12:02.880 -> 12:04.200] And of course it's for Austin.
[12:07.840 -> 12:15.440] Firm believer that it was all on purpose and this is because it's a better marketing story if Danny Rick makes his return at Austin. They need his marketing at
[12:15.440 -> 12:22.480] Austin but they wanted to evaluate Liam. I believe that he probably could have come back
[12:22.800 -> 12:26.300] I believe that he probably could have come back. At least the last race, if not the last two.
[12:26.300 -> 12:28.000] Oh, yeah, probably.
[12:28.000 -> 12:31.900] But this is a better story in the long run and, you know,
[12:31.900 -> 12:35.300] it would give him more time to heal and he has the seat for next year.
[12:35.300 -> 12:37.700] So, like, why the panic?
[12:37.700 -> 12:38.300] Why the rush?
[12:38.300 -> 12:40.300] But does he have that seat?
[12:40.300 -> 12:42.700] No!
[12:42.700 -> 12:44.300] That's not what we're going to talk about first.
[12:44.300 -> 13:05.000] Because first, we're going to talk about one of our favorite things Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Austin, Rick3Rodeo, Sadface, Morning, not being there.
[13:05.080 -> 13:06.800] So we are going to be discussing
[13:06.800 -> 13:09.080] the expanding of the Danny Rick universe,
[13:09.080 -> 13:11.620] the expanding of the Enchante universe,
[13:11.620 -> 13:14.360] the Rick3Cowboy universe.
[13:14.360 -> 13:16.760] So like I said, last year we had Rick3Rodeo,
[13:16.760 -> 13:18.440] there was some hoodies, there was a sweater,
[13:18.440 -> 13:21.740] there was sweatshirts, there was t-shirts, it was cute,
[13:21.740 -> 13:24.620] it was a good collection of F1 things.
[13:24.620 -> 13:27.760] Oh my goodness, has Danny Rick stepped it up this year
[13:27.760 -> 13:32.560] So one of my favorite things that Danny Rick does is he somehow within his own brand?
[13:32.840 -> 13:37.840] Finds a way to build out like a multiverse and is able to somehow establish
[13:38.240 -> 13:41.480] Different types of merchandise that applies to a race
[13:41.480 -> 13:47.500] But also somehow applies to Danny Rick himself and where does go big, and where does he go his biggest?
[13:47.500 -> 13:53.300] Oh my goodness, it seems like CODA 2023 is really where Danny Rick has hit his stride.
[13:53.300 -> 13:58.700] So, this year's Danny Rick CODA merchandise, Enchante Records.
[13:58.700 -> 14:03.500] Inspired by Danny Rick's love of Austin and its rich musical heritage,
[14:03.500 -> 14:06.520] which fits really well that he was
[14:06.520 -> 14:11.840] singing Wagon Wheel at like Nashville at the Red Bull Honky Tonk over the weekend.
[14:11.840 -> 14:16.160] And all of the merch has this vibe of Big Rick and Goody Two Shoes.
[14:16.160 -> 14:22.280] Seems like this like country band something definitely fits Danny Rick's vibe.
[14:22.280 -> 14:28.720] But the extension of this product line, the SKUs in this line, this
[14:28.720 -> 14:34.080] is insane. The depth goes wild. I'm going to go on a short list of every single item
[14:34.080 -> 14:39.400] in this collection and you're like, what is this F1 race, like F1 driver doing, who doesn't
[14:39.400 -> 14:44.240] even have a permanent seat at the start of the season? How long was all of this in production?
[14:44.240 -> 14:47.600] Was he going to be doing this anyway? Because the lead time on these things is crazy.
[14:47.940 -> 14:54.020] Four crewnecks, five shirts, two hoodies, a hazy cardigan, the Bucky Bronco sweater.
[14:54.420 -> 14:58.520] Something that Danny Rick has really leaned into is giving the option for people to
[14:58.720 -> 15:05.120] like have matching sets with t-shirts and whatever. He has two different color options in black and white.
[15:05.120 -> 15:11.540] There is this matching set of these adorable whip stitch shorts, which I'm actually sharing
[15:11.540 -> 15:19.500] my screen to show Brianna right now because where is this tab? Here it is. Yay. Okay.
[15:19.500 -> 15:26.120] This top with these shorts is so adorable and I can't believe they're $100 each.
[15:26.120 -> 15:28.920] It is so unbelievably unfair.
[15:28.920 -> 15:33.120] I will add these screenshots to the YouTube video right now.
[15:33.120 -> 15:38.520] Yes, I will give all of the links of things, but they have these matching sets,
[15:38.520 -> 15:41.720] there are these horseshoe socks, which are already sold out,
[15:41.720 -> 15:46.900] and I'm really bummed because I want to like have them a cream canvas denim
[15:47.140 -> 15:54.320] Western jacket thing a Western style quarter zip a corduroy tote bag a bandana and four different hats
[15:54.580 -> 16:00.080] Now this extension this entire collection is like so out of this world like
[16:00.900 -> 16:02.560] so many different items
[16:02.560 -> 16:07.120] But it's screaming that so much of this is for a women fanbase.
[16:07.120 -> 16:08.120] And you're like, what do you mean?
[16:08.120 -> 16:09.120] Why?
[16:09.120 -> 16:10.980] It's like records, it's rodeo, it's whatever.
[16:10.980 -> 16:12.360] Things that people don't want.
[16:12.360 -> 16:14.960] Okay, let me tell you all the reasons why.
[16:14.960 -> 16:19.440] One, matching sets are for everyone, but particularly women.
[16:19.440 -> 16:22.360] Women started it first and then all their boyfriends or husbands were like, oh, that's
[16:22.360 -> 16:23.360] really comfortable.
[16:23.360 -> 16:24.640] And what do you mean I don't have to make decisions?
[16:24.640 -> 16:26.880] And also like, they were probably just dressed.
[16:26.880 -> 16:31.680] Matching sets are for females, it's a uniform.
[16:31.680 -> 16:34.600] The juicy couture velour sweatsuit way back when
[16:34.600 -> 16:36.960] is like what started this entire revolution.
[16:38.600 -> 16:39.440] Now-
[16:39.440 -> 16:41.600] What a reference, I needed to interrupt the soapbox
[16:41.600 -> 16:44.880] to tell you that that was a fantastic reference.
[16:44.880 -> 16:51.100] There is this hazy checker cardigan that 100% Danny Rick is sitting in a meeting
[16:51.100 -> 16:56.420] and says I need something that UT girls can wear to football games. I need
[16:56.420 -> 17:00.700] something that sorority girls can wear to chapter, wear to rush, all of these
[17:00.700 -> 17:05.400] different types of things. This is a University of Texas
[17:12.060 -> 17:12.600] Merchandise this could be in their entire like merch store. He has this crazy denim
[17:20.400 -> 17:22.400] Cowboy jacket thing who is this for not dudes dudes are totally not going to be wearing ignore the dude wearing this here There it is
[17:22.760 -> 17:27.520] But this is totally an oversized fit of textures that females
[17:27.520 -> 17:34.500] are really leaning into. And what officially sold me is that one of the hats completely
[17:34.500 -> 17:40.180] matches the tote bag. You know who's definitely not wearing a matching hat and tote bag? Men.
[17:40.180 -> 17:46.440] This is a line for the ladies and Dain Danny Rick knows that the ladies love him.
[17:46.440 -> 17:48.760] I can't believe the amount of items in this.
[17:48.760 -> 17:54.080] It is so expensive so I just keep staring at it but I really want these adorable whip
[17:54.080 -> 17:56.560] stitch shorts.
[17:56.560 -> 17:58.740] So Danny Rick continues to do the most.
[17:58.740 -> 18:03.120] I just love what he does so creatively with his own branded merch and ways that he can
[18:03.120 -> 18:05.600] fit GP things into it somehow.
[18:05.600 -> 18:08.240] He puts like a Danny Rick spin on everything.
[18:08.240 -> 18:13.500] So I can't wait to see what he continues to do, especially next year with like a full
[18:13.500 -> 18:18.680] official F1 season of Danny Ricardo.
[18:18.680 -> 18:20.840] That was a fantastic soapbox.
[18:20.840 -> 18:22.000] Thank you.
[18:22.000 -> 18:30.800] I will never be able to get over how expensive his merch is. It is so mispriced. It is unreal.
[18:30.800 -> 18:38.920] I'm gonna also make the case that like all F1 drivers merch is exceptionally overpriced. Danny
[18:38.920 -> 18:50.820] Rick has like this is a lot and like with the amount of like the productions in this it the cost of goods has to be insane but like yeah it's a lot yeah I said that exclusive
[18:50.820 -> 18:58.360] to him but his is worse right to be fair I want to also make I will be his devil
[18:58.360 -> 19:03.120] advocate forever the quality is incredible these t-shirts are so soft
[19:03.120 -> 19:05.760] the sweatshirts are like so thick and nice.
[19:05.760 -> 19:06.840] So like you're good.
[19:06.840 -> 19:07.820] I can't speak to this line.
[19:07.820 -> 19:09.360] I can speak to last year and everything else
[19:09.360 -> 19:11.160] that I've ever bought has always been good material,
[19:11.160 -> 19:13.520] but yeah, it's still crazy expensive.
[19:13.520 -> 19:16.720] I said the next thing I will eventually buy
[19:16.720 -> 19:19.880] is whenever he restocks his FEA crew neck.
[19:19.880 -> 19:22.600] That'll be, I'll spend $100 on a crew neck
[19:22.600 -> 19:24.680] because I said it was, I know I'm crazy,
[19:24.680 -> 19:30.280] but I'll do it if he restocks it but I won't buy any I think he does because
[19:30.280 -> 19:36.040] I'm not going and money yeah I think he does merch better than any other driver
[19:36.040 -> 19:43.280] on on or off the grid and I think it was a hundred percent worth the freakout at
[19:43.280 -> 19:45.760] the soapbox about it and I but I do think that the a hundred percent worth the freak out at the soapbox about it
[19:52.120 -> 19:52.840] And I but I do think that the reason the socks are the only thing sold out right now is because they're mispriced
[19:56.400 -> 20:03.040] But yeah, it's like socks and like two three hats But I get it's exactly more reiterating the point of too expensive make cheaper, please
[20:03.360 -> 20:04.400] But oh my god
[20:04.400 -> 20:04.600] Yeah
[20:04.600 -> 20:04.760] No
[20:04.760 -> 20:05.840] As soon as I saw,
[20:05.840 -> 20:06.920] as soon as you pulled up the screen
[20:06.920 -> 20:08.640] and I saw there was a tote bag in the line,
[20:08.640 -> 20:12.160] I'm like, oh, yep, Nicole's right, this is made for women.
[20:12.160 -> 20:14.520] Matching corduroy hat.
[20:14.520 -> 20:17.360] Oh yes, having bags is great.
[20:17.360 -> 20:19.200] Just like women should have more pockets,
[20:19.200 -> 20:21.200] men should carry more bags.
[20:21.200 -> 20:23.040] Right, 100%, so then we don't have
[20:23.040 -> 20:25.340] to carry their stuff in our bags. Right,
[20:25.340 -> 20:31.620] because everyone's asking us anyway. Oh my god I forgot I was gonna put on my
[20:31.620 -> 20:40.660] shoey hat. And we know what happened at CODA because we were both there together
[20:40.660 -> 20:45.780] at the same time. I don't know. It's very infrequent unless
[20:45.780 -> 20:51.700] we're like, ah, behind the scenes recording that we're directly talking to whoever's listening
[20:51.700 -> 21:01.780] to us. Yeah, we're having like a third wall moment. Hello. So we realized when we were
[21:01.780 -> 21:06.920] recording with Bryson, that in the prior 38 episodes of
[21:06.920 -> 21:14.120] this podcast we have never talked about how this podcast came to be and the
[21:14.120 -> 21:20.120] origin story the like very official like the moment this podcast became more than
[21:20.120 -> 21:27.600] a joke or something we talked about was at the USGP last year.
[21:27.600 -> 21:29.000] Yeah.
[21:29.000 -> 21:34.000] Because we've known each other since we were, I was 20.
[21:36.360 -> 21:39.720] I mean, tech, I was also 20?
[21:39.720 -> 21:41.560] 20, yeah, yeah.
[21:41.560 -> 21:42.840] No, is that possible?
[21:42.840 -> 21:46.800] Were you 19? That's scary, I don't want to say that out loud
[21:47.480 -> 21:52.200] Well, how about this? No Colesley? We were in your older than age. Yeah
[21:52.200 -> 21:58.040] Yeah, we met in college because the school year older than me and we celebrated her 21st birthday in Italy together
[22:01.160 -> 22:07.120] But all that to say is we've known each other for six years?
[22:07.120 -> 22:08.840] At least more.
[22:08.840 -> 22:09.840] Has to be more.
[22:09.840 -> 22:11.000] Oh yeah, more.
[22:11.000 -> 22:12.000] I'm 28.
[22:12.000 -> 22:13.320] Oh my god, yeah.
[22:13.320 -> 22:16.640] So we've known each other for over seven years.
[22:16.640 -> 22:18.440] It's alright.
[22:18.440 -> 22:24.040] Schedules, existential crisis, not during recording.
[22:24.040 -> 22:25.880] Right.
[22:28.800 -> 22:31.540] We always, like we both love marketing and we both love sports and we always talked
[22:31.540 -> 22:34.140] and joked about doing some kind of sports podcast.
[22:34.140 -> 22:35.880] But I think we knew we were never gonna do one
[22:35.880 -> 22:38.760] about football, like that just didn't feel right.
[22:38.760 -> 22:41.360] I have too many Eagles emotions to ever do that rationally.
[22:41.360 -> 22:43.240] It's what we always said we would do.
[22:43.240 -> 22:46.560] It just never felt like, I don't know,
[22:46.560 -> 22:50.520] it felt like it was not the right time,
[22:50.520 -> 22:52.240] we never had the right idea,
[22:52.240 -> 22:54.000] but we had always talked like,
[22:54.000 -> 22:57.000] we would love a sports podcast.
[22:57.000 -> 22:58.600] I think it would be something really great
[22:58.600 -> 23:03.600] that we would do because we're big on the sport,
[23:03.660 -> 23:09.840] being a fan of the sports. Yeah the specific piece about it i was didn't
[23:09.840 -> 23:14.720] even mean big on the sports but being a fan of the sports is different than being big on the sports
[23:16.320 -> 23:21.760] i also just saw in your eyes the panic when like like it's this is a conversation we never thought
[23:21.760 -> 23:25.160] to have on the podcast because we struggle to talk about the things we're good at.
[23:25.160 -> 23:28.200] And we're also both very social media savvy people.
[23:28.200 -> 23:29.360] We both love YouTube.
[23:33.360 -> 23:36.340] Social media is also something we love.
[23:36.340 -> 23:39.280] So I think we kind of always felt like we would also just be good at doing
[23:39.280 -> 23:39.800] a podcast.
[23:39.800 -> 23:41.720] We just were like, OK, we love sports.
[23:41.720 -> 23:42.720] We love podcasts.
[23:42.720 -> 23:44.880] We love social media and YouTube.
[23:44.880 -> 23:46.920] And we just never found the right thing.
[23:46.920 -> 23:47.760] Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
[23:47.760 -> 23:49.140] I'm one of those people that I like to think
[23:49.140 -> 23:52.540] that in 2011, if I started vlogging in high school,
[23:52.540 -> 23:55.580] I would be like a different life right now.
[23:55.580 -> 23:57.420] But like, could not do it.
[23:57.420 -> 24:00.520] I have told Nicole, since the moment I met Nicole,
[24:00.520 -> 24:02.660] that Nicole needed to be a YouTuber.
[24:02.660 -> 24:04.220] The other thing you should know about us
[24:04.220 -> 24:07.960] is that we like to travel to sporting events. So even though we live on different coasts,
[24:07.960 -> 24:12.160] we like travel to sporting events. Going to the USGP was not the first time we did this.
[24:12.160 -> 24:18.320] Nicole is also my yes friend. Where if I'm like, Nicole, let's go to a Formula One race
[24:18.320 -> 24:22.880] in Austin. She just goes, let's do it. And then we start, we book it and we plan it.
[24:22.880 -> 24:27.760] Like, that's it. this is actually the second sporting event that we flew to Texas for.
[24:28.280 -> 24:30.560] Yes. We did a couple of years.
[24:31.160 -> 24:34.800] Yeah. We flew for University of Miami LSU.
[24:35.880 -> 24:37.560] Oh, 2018.
[24:38.120 -> 24:39.760] Yeah. At Jerry's World.
[24:41.760 -> 24:43.400] That was anyway. Yes.
[24:45.000 -> 24:47.600] OK. So how did this podcast come to be?
[24:47.600 -> 24:55.200] Well, we spent like a fantastic weekend at the USGP and up until I had never been to
[24:55.200 -> 25:01.080] an F1 race, Nicole went to one Friday practice of the Miami GP that same year, last year.
[25:01.080 -> 25:07.880] And I had this long held belief that I didn't know enough about Formula One to
[25:07.880 -> 25:15.800] do a podcast about Formula One. And over the course of the weekend, Nicole very subtly
[25:15.800 -> 25:22.080] wore that part of me down and convinced me and showed me that that is so far from the
[25:22.080 -> 25:25.680] truth with every interaction that we had.
[25:27.280 -> 25:31.040] Yeah, I think it was consistently like we would leave a conversation and I was like,
[25:31.040 -> 25:39.200] do you realize, like the the knowledge that was dropped and shared and like this is like, so our
[25:39.200 -> 25:46.640] people, your people, like all like, this is such a fan base that we are very much a part of and like can
[25:48.640 -> 25:48.880] Have something to contribute to
[25:53.280 -> 25:54.360] so it was Sunday track invasion post podium and
[25:59.000 -> 25:59.640] We were standing there looking at the Mercedes garage and they were packing everything up away
[26:05.440 -> 26:06.800] And I just remember so clearly you and I making eye contact and me going we should do the podcast
[26:12.080 -> 26:17.360] and you looked at me and you were like we should do the podcast and it was like that moment where we realized that like we could do this um then Nicole went and stared at the Daniel Ricardo
[26:17.360 -> 26:23.280] McLaren garage and cried so we paused on the conversation for a little bit yeah I needed to
[26:23.280 -> 26:25.880] not yeah Mercedes was like the first
[26:25.880 -> 26:30.440] or second garage and like McLaren was like towards the end. So like we didn't make our
[26:30.440 -> 26:35.240] way and there was like, you know, celebration and podium and DJ Diesel and like, wow, Shaq
[26:35.240 -> 26:40.060] is a tall dude. Like, you know, and then we were like, let's change our lives and start
[26:40.060 -> 26:46.000] a podcast. And then I needed to have an existential crisis and then you know have some wine and plan
[26:46.000 -> 26:53.360] a podcast. By the way, track invasion. If you're going to the USGP, definitely do it. It was like
[26:53.360 -> 26:57.040] not necessarily because you want to see the podium. Like that part was cool. It was fine.
[26:57.040 -> 27:03.280] You know, it's there. But like being on the track, like we we did starts, like we stood in Lewis
[27:03.280 -> 27:06.720] Hamilton's grid slot and ran. And then we
[27:06.720 -> 27:11.360] get to see them all pack up and we watched Red Bull celebrate the constructors, which was less
[27:11.360 -> 27:20.400] fun, but still cool. So like... Climb the wall. Climb the fence. Yeah. And be kind to the security
[27:20.400 -> 27:31.600] guards that are just trying to keep you all safe. People are so mean and rude. And also, like, don't climb over the fence. Stay behind the fence. It's okay. You can
[27:31.600 -> 27:38.560] literally stand on the concrete wall, on the fence. Don't climb on top of it. It's so scary
[27:38.560 -> 27:45.000] and dangerous. And don't be a jerk to security when they tell you to get down.
[27:45.000 -> 27:48.000] Right. Or that it's time to leave, or, you know?
[27:48.000 -> 27:51.000] Just do it. Don't ruin the fun for other people.
[27:51.000 -> 27:56.000] Pick up your pieces of the Pirelli tires on the ground and go home.
[27:56.000 -> 27:58.000] I have so many tire marbles.
[27:58.000 -> 28:01.000] So many tire marbles.
[28:01.000 -> 28:04.000] I gave tire marbles to everyone when I got home.
[28:04.000 -> 28:05.560] I was like, here is a piece of tire.
[28:05.560 -> 28:09.360] And they were all like, thanks, Brianna. This is the souvenir you bring back. And I'm like,
[28:09.360 -> 28:17.360] you don't understand. Um, yeah. And then that night we went to dinner and we got very drunk
[28:17.360 -> 28:27.000] at a very fancy restaurant and discussed all the details of this theoretical podcast that we were decently convinced
[28:27.000 -> 28:30.000] at that point that we were a hundred percent going to do.
[28:30.000 -> 28:36.240] 39 episodes later. I guess at this point it's like 38 and a half because we're
[28:36.240 -> 28:39.000] like halfway through this episode.
[28:39.000 -> 28:41.000] Wow.
[28:41.000 -> 28:46.240] And I think we both went home from the weekend and we reached back out to each other and
[28:46.240 -> 28:50.000] we were both a little like, so were we drunk or were we actually doing this?
[28:50.000 -> 28:51.000] Yeah, yeah.
[28:51.000 -> 28:55.000] There was like, I remember you sending me a message of like, okay, so like I was serious
[28:55.000 -> 28:59.760] and like if you weren't super serious and now we've like had some time, I like get it,
[28:59.760 -> 29:02.880] but if not, we should definitely do this.
[29:02.880 -> 29:06.240] And I was like, no no I'm so serious and then you
[29:06.240 -> 29:12.320] know some weekly by weekly meetings later and developing a brand and being
[29:12.320 -> 29:18.360] two people who do all of this we have created a really cool show that's very
[29:18.360 -> 29:27.000] unique and very us which was something that we felt very important to have in it.
[29:27.000 -> 29:32.400] You know, that was what separates our show from the rest of other shows out there.
[29:32.400 -> 29:36.000] Not just F1 podcasts, but any podcast is that it's us.
[29:36.000 -> 29:39.160] So that's what we wanted to make sure really stood out.
[29:39.160 -> 29:43.920] And it's been a wild ride and I think it will continue to be a wild ride.
[29:43.920 -> 29:47.120] And I am so very happy and thankful that
[29:47.120 -> 29:52.960] we went to Coda for a million reasons but one of them being finally clicked that this was our thing
[29:52.960 -> 30:00.560] this was this was the thing that we needed to complete the podcast that we've theoretically
[30:00.560 -> 30:08.960] talked about for almost a decade gross ew. So even though you listening to this you've only been able to listen to Gridwalk
[30:09.680 -> 30:16.480] for nine-ish months, this has been a year in the making and seven plus years of friendship
[30:16.480 -> 30:21.200] in the making as well. So it's like, it's a little nostalgic. I feel old.
[30:22.080 -> 30:25.400] Yeah, wow. Our friendship isn't like first grade.
[30:25.400 -> 30:29.960] Alright, I think we talked about this about five months ago, but Netflix has officially
[30:29.960 -> 30:36.220] announced that they are doing their first live sporting event, and it's a golf, F1 driver
[30:36.220 -> 30:44.680] golfing event crossover that has Carlos Sainz, Alex Albon, Lando Norris, and a fourth driver
[30:44.680 -> 30:46.120] who made a ton of sense and I'm
[30:46.120 -> 30:51.360] blanking on who. Oh my gosh panic! Netflix Cup! Netflix Cup! Netflix Cup!
[30:51.360 -> 30:56.800] Okay that doesn't help that. Lando Norris is the thumbnail of it. Gasly! Gasly! Okay.
[30:56.800 -> 31:01.800] Whoo! I would apologize to Pierre Gasly but I don't know. The other three like
[31:01.800 -> 31:07.820] golf so and then it's with a bunch of professional golfers and they're gonna do a live
[31:08.040 -> 31:13.220] Golf tournament and the whole thing is a big like drive to survive and whatever the golf
[31:13.840 -> 31:21.480] Version of the drive to survive show was called crossover event and it's just to promote a bunch of shows, but I admittedly am hyped
[31:22.800 -> 31:25.760] How are you full swing Full swing. Full swing is the show.
[31:25.760 -> 31:26.760] Thank you.
[31:26.760 -> 31:33.800] I promise I did a bunch of research on this before starting this recording segment.
[31:33.800 -> 31:34.920] There's a lot to talk about.
[31:34.920 -> 31:46.840] I'm really excited for all of the reasons that I love to see athletes try other sports and these particular F1 drivers talk a lot of game about their
[31:46.840 -> 31:53.720] you know golf game and hopefully I'm expecting a lot from Alex Albon learning
[31:53.720 -> 31:57.480] a bunch from Lily because he has no excuses being around an unbelievable
[31:57.480 -> 32:02.800] golf queen professional. I also am just really intrigued putting on all of my
[32:02.800 -> 32:08.080] business hats of things how Netflix approaches live sports how they approach
[32:08.880 -> 32:11.280] That event because the love is blind
[32:11.920 -> 32:15.080] Reunion was from last year was a nightmare
[32:15.360 -> 32:20.920] So like if that was your test run of how you're going to do a live sporting event when you're advertising for two
[32:21.440 -> 32:23.200] incredibly successful
[32:23.200 -> 32:25.000] Netflix series
[32:25.000 -> 32:28.000] with fan bases that are incredibly dedicated to both shows
[32:28.000 -> 32:29.120] and to both sports.
[32:29.120 -> 32:33.080] And it's leading up to one of the largest events
[32:33.080 -> 32:35.780] of like the year with being the Vegas GP
[32:35.780 -> 32:36.620] with athletes for this.
[32:36.620 -> 32:40.320] Like it's the storm of chaos of if you don't get this live
[32:40.320 -> 32:43.440] streaming access done right.
[32:43.440 -> 32:47.200] Like it's a big, uh--oh. Yeah Netflix hasn't been quiet
[32:47.200 -> 32:51.280] about the fact that they went into live sports rights and this is probably
[32:51.280 -> 32:57.100] supposed to show that they can do that. But yeah I'm intrigued to see how they
[32:57.100 -> 33:02.040] make this entertaining and different for someone like me. Like I watch the
[33:02.040 -> 33:09.120] Masters. That's all I watch on golf. As much as I love F1, I don't
[33:09.120 -> 33:14.400] really watch it to watch the drivers golf. So tuning in, I'm intrigued what they're gonna do
[33:14.400 -> 33:20.800] to like attract our fan base to be interested in this event that's going on. Right. Besides
[33:20.800 -> 33:27.560] just being like drivers golfing, I'd like to see something else. Let's do pit stops and golf carts.
[33:28.720 -> 33:30.920] They better mic them up. That's the big thing.
[33:30.960 -> 33:33.160] Like that would be such a missed opportunity.
[33:33.160 -> 33:35.120] Like you got to mic them up.
[33:35.120 -> 33:38.040] Also, Netflix just released a movie recently
[33:38.040 -> 33:40.400] that's like an interactive movie with different endings.
[33:40.400 -> 33:43.840] So they have interactive capabilities.
[33:43.840 -> 33:45.480] So there's such an opportunity here like
[33:45.480 -> 33:50.600] mic up the drivers and the golfers, like have people live voting on things, like is there
[33:50.600 -> 33:56.120] going to be a chat room? Like they have a big opportunity to have a cross between like
[33:56.120 -> 34:02.640] a live streamed something on YouTube and Twitch and a normal sporting event. So I might, I'm
[34:02.640 -> 34:05.680] basically, I'm going into this with heavy expectations to
[34:05.680 -> 34:11.680] be entertained and I would like to see them do something interesting. Don't mess it up. You are
[34:11.680 -> 34:18.000] now charging for people to share passwords. So you have more money now. Don't mess it up.
[34:19.280 -> 34:27.860] Um wait I heard news today. Yeah hold on. Edit that out. No, you got it. You got it. I'm gonna do a test run with Alpine
[34:31.160 -> 34:33.160] It's in the car
[34:35.760 -> 34:39.160] And did you hear that Netflix is doing
[34:40.720 -> 34:44.800] Something with f1 also wait wait, it's coming to me. That one's not coming to me
[34:49.280 -> 34:50.880] If you listen to the episode on thursday
[34:58.800 -> 35:06.920] we're doing a live like charity golf match oh that's it with f1 drivers yeah and golfers yeah before vegas carlos signs oh he's gonna be there. Yeah are you gonna watch it? Yeah that could be fun.
[35:06.920 -> 35:11.220] Could be fun. It's on a Tuesday. Alright nice seeing you and Nicole.
[35:11.220 -> 35:18.560] Alright second business sponsorship news of the day. Alpine announced a whole list of
[35:18.560 -> 35:30.040] other investors. Now some clarification because I've seen some muddled information go around. There was the $200 million that was invested into Alpine, and that was the Ryan Reynolds
[35:30.040 -> 35:32.200] It's Always Sunny group.
[35:32.200 -> 35:33.200] Ryan McElhenney.
[35:33.200 -> 35:36.640] I know, but I just like to say It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
[35:36.640 -> 35:39.240] But it's the Ryan and Ryan group.
[35:39.240 -> 35:42.760] It just sounds like the show is investing in Alpine.
[35:42.760 -> 35:46.120] Which, like, also doesn't sound, I mean Rob,
[35:46.120 -> 35:48.360] that's all the same thing, but.
[35:49.360 -> 35:51.840] In my head, that is what happened.
[35:53.240 -> 35:55.740] But that was already a group of investors,
[35:55.740 -> 35:58.760] and what was announced today is that a bunch of athletes
[35:58.760 -> 36:01.560] essentially bought into that pot.
[36:01.560 -> 36:04.520] So whatever percentage of the business they got
[36:04.520 -> 36:06.100] for the 200 million,
[36:06.100 -> 36:08.900] they're giving some of those shares to new people
[36:08.900 -> 36:12.620] like Travis Kelsey and Patrick Mahomes.
[36:14.180 -> 36:15.780] Look, Travis Kelsey,
[36:15.780 -> 36:17.820] if you're trying to just get my attention
[36:17.820 -> 36:20.460] and be my best friend, so fine.
[36:20.460 -> 36:22.920] I really understand that you're just getting involved
[36:22.920 -> 36:24.740] in everything that I love,
[36:25.860 -> 36:28.480] but we just have shared interests
[36:29.340 -> 36:31.340] But to be so very serious
[36:32.360 -> 36:38.360] Like I love seeing all the involvement of people investing in f1. Bah bah bah
[36:39.720 -> 36:41.720] Alpine like
[36:49.760 -> 36:55.880] Like, hi, why, why is so much money being thrown right now in this direction that hasn't necessarily produced returning of said money, at least recently?
[36:55.880 -> 37:02.400] I mean, the interesting thing about this announcement is that there's no more money being thrown
[37:02.400 -> 37:03.400] there.
[37:03.400 -> 37:06.640] I think, I think the company that has put together this investment
[37:06.640 -> 37:13.920] group is very smart to pull in all these athletes where they can leverage the PR and the star
[37:13.920 -> 37:19.460] power of these athlete investors into their investment into Alpine. Like clearly some
[37:19.460 -> 37:23.120] part of their strategy was alright we're going to invest this $200 million that we're going
[37:23.120 -> 37:27.000] to get athletes and famous people to pay us for some of that investment right, we're gonna invest this 200 million that we're gonna get athletes and famous people to, to pay us for
[37:27.000 -> 37:34.360] some of that investment. And then we're going to be able to leverage that star power for marketing and attention, which is
[37:34.360 -> 37:39.440] great, but I think it's just getting like more headlines than it should, because it's outpaying.
[37:39.920 -> 37:45.160] Yeah, and then I'm just like, all right, how do we need like people?
[37:45.160 -> 37:46.180] Okay. Like, sure.
[37:46.180 -> 37:52.860] You're investing this much in it, but like what you have like a 0.01%
[37:52.980 -> 37:55.920] like stake in Alpine and this is just becoming a headline.
[37:55.920 -> 37:59.060] Like, yeah, there's probably like numerous, numerous people that we've
[37:59.060 -> 38:00.520] never even heard of on that list.
[38:00.520 -> 38:05.680] So it, it is like you're saying coming down to a headline which you know
[38:05.680 -> 38:12.240] in like some ways I mean it's cool to see like celebrities acknowledge and
[38:12.240 -> 38:15.880] talk about it which I will always get very excited for and that we talked
[38:15.880 -> 38:19.440] about recently Travis Kelsey has great taste as he was at the Mercedes garage
[38:19.440 -> 38:29.440] at the Miami GP in 2022 but yeah it just seems a little bit like Alpine playing the PR game of look
[38:29.440 -> 38:33.680] at all these people that like us and are interested and da da da da da.
[38:33.680 -> 38:38.320] I'm excited to see what step two is. Like right now it's like look at all these big
[38:38.320 -> 38:45.480] names that have invested money into Alpine. Like I would like to them to know leverage that beyond a name.
[38:45.480 -> 38:51.200] I'm excited to see what that means. Because this isn't the first time in sports that athletes
[38:51.200 -> 38:56.900] have invested into other sports. When that really starts to matter is when they show
[38:56.900 -> 39:01.560] up and they bring attention and connection. So I'm excited to see what that means for
[39:01.560 -> 39:06.560] Alpine and F1 in general. Yeah like show me Travis Kelsey at a game.
[39:07.800 -> 39:09.040] Maybe bring your girlfriend.
[39:09.440 -> 39:10.640] I was going to say, what do you think?
[39:10.640 -> 39:14.940] Travis Kelsey would show up with a certain individual that maybe would cause a little
[39:14.940 -> 39:21.520] bit of a couple more eyes to be brought to a racetrack that maybe would happen.
[39:21.600 -> 39:22.360] Who knows?
[39:22.480 -> 39:24.480] I don't know who we could be talking about.
[39:24.640 -> 39:26.900] Whoops. would happen who knows I don't know who we could be talking about whoops last
[39:26.900 -> 39:32.240] businessy type story of the week that we're gonna talk about is that Ferrari
[39:32.240 -> 39:38.180] dropped US GP specific merch and it's the next iteration in their line of
[39:38.180 -> 39:48.600] things that are like other sports jerseys but make it Ferrari. And these jerseys are for some reason football
[39:48.600 -> 39:54.120] jerseys to them. And to me, I saw them and my brain did not think that looked like a
[39:54.120 -> 39:57.200] football jersey. And when I say football, I mean American football. It's supposed to
[39:57.200 -> 40:03.640] be the NFL. They're throwing pigskins. Like this is... Is it just me or do they not look
[40:03.640 -> 40:05.040] like football jerseys at all?
[40:05.040 -> 40:13.100] It looked like they took European football jerseys but printed American football jerseys
[40:13.100 -> 40:14.440] on them.
[40:14.440 -> 40:22.000] They're not made of quote unquote jersey material like McLaren has done or Williams has done
[40:22.000 -> 40:26.000] or like football jerseys are made of when they're football jerseys.
[40:26.000 -> 40:28.000] And they don't have numbers on them!
[40:28.000 -> 40:29.000] Like if they just put-
[40:29.000 -> 40:34.000] I thought they had the like, I thought it was like printed like, but like, smaller.
[40:34.000 -> 40:37.000] I might have missed that. That helps at least a little bit.
[40:37.000 -> 40:40.000] But like it doesn't, but it's in like the Ferrari font.
[40:40.000 -> 40:42.000] Hold on, now I'm fact checking myself.
[40:42.000 -> 40:48.980] Maybe I made it up okay so no they have
[40:48.980 -> 40:54.660] like there but it's like they're on their belly yeah it's weird again it's
[40:54.660 -> 41:08.700] like they made their polo t-shirts like a a European soccer jersey, football jersey, however you want to phrase that, but are like calling
[41:08.700 -> 41:11.980] it an American.
[41:11.980 -> 41:12.980] What is that?
[41:12.980 -> 41:18.220] That's not a jersey material in the definition of American jersey material.
[41:18.220 -> 41:21.820] I don't need it to be American jersey material.
[41:21.820 -> 41:22.820] I do.
[41:22.820 -> 41:25.000] But you need to at least get creative enough
[41:25.000 -> 41:28.640] to understand that the number doesn't go in the belly button.
[41:29.640 -> 41:31.080] But here's the thing.
[41:31.080 -> 41:31.720] You can't put-
[41:31.720 -> 41:32.840] If you were to make-
[41:32.840 -> 41:36.080] If you were to put that on Jersey material,
[41:36.080 -> 41:39.560] make the number like 2x bigger.
[41:39.920 -> 41:40.840] But even just-
[41:40.840 -> 41:42.200] Yeah, but like that's-
[41:42.200 -> 41:44.400] Yeah, nothing about this is-
[41:47.920 -> 41:52.080] This is- Not- An American was not involved in this process is all it screamed to me.
[41:52.320 -> 41:57.720] And you so you cannot tell me that this is an NFL jersey, an American football jersey
[41:57.840 -> 42:00.200] and think I'm going to be OK with that.
[42:06.000 -> 42:11.200] V-neck coming soon to an NFL stadium near you. But he does not grass fields just V-neck jerseys.
[42:11.200 -> 42:12.200] They look great.
[42:12.200 -> 42:14.700] Look, the drivers look great.
[42:14.700 -> 42:15.700] You know what?
[42:15.700 -> 42:17.900] They would look great in a paper bag.
[42:17.900 -> 42:19.600] Like that's that's really it.
[42:19.600 -> 42:20.800] Yeah, holding a football.
[42:20.800 -> 42:21.700] It's fantastic.
[42:21.700 -> 42:24.500] It looks great here because you can't tell that it's supposed
[42:24.500 -> 42:27.560] to be a football jersey. This is just a good photo of Carlos Sainz holding
[42:27.560 -> 42:34.640] a football yeah he's a sweatshirt underneath it what is going on hi no
[42:34.640 -> 42:41.800] Ferrari no but like try again like don't be discouraged you just like you were
[42:41.800 -> 42:47.000] going in the right direction but then you you veered too close to the Ferrari on this one
[42:47.000 -> 42:51.240] and didn't lean far enough into where you were trying to go.
[42:51.240 -> 42:54.080] And you stayed too close to the, yeah, yeah.
[42:54.080 -> 42:56.280] Just do it if you're gonna do it.
[42:56.280 -> 42:58.500] But the video they put out,
[42:58.500 -> 43:00.020] I just would like to say I'm impressed
[43:00.020 -> 43:01.740] that it seems like someone showed Carlos Sainz
[43:01.740 -> 43:03.240] how to actually throw a football,
[43:03.240 -> 43:10.400] which is not a guarantee with European men in general, where he even twisted it to put his hands on the laces. So shout out to
[43:10.400 -> 43:16.880] you, Carlos Sainz, at least you know how to throw a football. I mean, look, your Austin preview
[43:16.880 -> 43:22.160] doesn't need to be that in depth. Everyone loves Austin. It's a fan favorite. It's a driver favorite.
[43:22.160 -> 43:25.260] It is an F1 all time. Great time.
[43:29.620 -> 43:33.700] Lots of overtakes, fun turns, fun straights, fun Hills, fun, all the things, fun, all everything you want and more how to track, um, that's
[43:33.700 -> 43:34.740] everything you need to know.
[43:34.880 -> 43:37.580] There's going to be some stuff with tires and cars are going to
[43:37.580 -> 43:39.200] stop and we love Austin.
[43:39.200 -> 43:41.980] So let's get into what we think is going to happen this weekend.
[43:45.080 -> 43:48.680] Behind the scenes, Nicole just said all of that before we started recording.
[43:49.080 -> 43:52.120] And, but she ended it with something she left out here.
[43:52.360 -> 43:53.880] I forgot how I ended it.
[43:53.880 -> 43:56.120] I did completely forget how I ended it.
[43:56.120 -> 44:00.520] And it's that Nicole went eagle and then made an eagle noise.
[44:02.600 -> 44:05.000] I did forget about my bald eagle sound.
[44:05.000 -> 44:07.000] It was horrible.
[44:07.000 -> 44:09.000] It was not good.
[44:09.000 -> 44:11.000] I didn't think it sounded like a bald eagle.
[44:11.000 -> 44:13.000] But in the middle of that I said,
[44:13.000 -> 44:15.000] I had a funny way that I ended this in conversation
[44:15.000 -> 44:17.000] because this is how I just speak.
[44:17.000 -> 44:19.000] This isn't content.
[44:19.000 -> 44:21.000] I did immediately forget.
[44:21.000 -> 44:23.000] Nicole, we don't speak differently on the podcast.
[44:23.000 -> 44:27.440] We're just always doing podcasts when we talk to each other.
[44:31.840 -> 44:39.840] Which is why sometimes I'm annoyed when we don't hit record fast enough because Nicole gave a great preview and I went just do it again. Here we go. So uh it is unfortunately a sprint weekend.
[44:41.120 -> 44:49.000] I'm over it. I'm over it. I'm over them. But that means we have more things to predict and pick this weekend.
[44:49.000 -> 44:51.000] So, uh...
[44:51.000 -> 44:55.000] Yay! Predictions make me stress. Mostly because I'm losing.
[44:55.000 -> 45:00.000] Nicole, who was your P3 in the sprint?
[45:00.000 -> 45:11.360] My P3 in the sprint, have Oscar Piastri. I at one point did have Oscar Piastri
[45:11.360 -> 45:17.480] written in my notes but instead I decided to finalize with George Russell.
[45:17.480 -> 45:25.020] Okay okay okay. Yeah Mercedes is bringing like a new floor maybe I'm trying maybe I'm feeling a
[45:25.020 -> 45:32.360] little hopeful around it maybe I shouldn't but I yeah my like really
[45:32.360 -> 45:39.360] detailed overview of Austin doesn't go into how there's like a exciting
[45:39.360 -> 45:48.840] avalanche of upgrades like coming to Austin, but like Red Bull won. So, you know, it also just comes down to the conversation of if like
[45:48.840 -> 45:51.640] Checo makes it of, I don't know, there's a lot of things, but like
[45:51.640 -> 45:53.280] lots of upgrades are also happening.
[45:53.280 -> 45:56.080] Add that to my caveat.
[45:56.080 -> 45:58.280] You know, there's my Checo analysis.
[45:58.320 -> 46:02.240] I don't think he's going to be on the podium for the sprint at this point until
[46:02.240 -> 46:12.880] Checo, oh my gosh, that is the largest water cup ever. You just did, for those not watching on YouTube, Nicole just did-
[46:12.880 -> 46:17.320] This is not the first time I have consumed water from this during this episode.
[46:17.320 -> 46:23.680] That's the first time I've noticed. For those watching on YouTube, Nicole just did the most
[46:23.680 -> 46:26.060] delicate tiny sip out of a Taylor
[46:26.060 -> 46:29.340] Swift cup as big as her head.
[46:29.340 -> 46:33.900] Thank you AMC for my souvenir cup from the Airwiz Tour movie.
[46:33.900 -> 46:34.900] Oh my gosh.
[46:34.900 -> 46:39.100] I don't remember what I was saying about Checo, so moving on.
[46:39.100 -> 46:40.100] Who do you have as P8?
[46:40.100 -> 46:42.740] Checo's not going to be on the podium.
[46:42.740 -> 46:46.560] P8 in the points I have Fernando Alonso. I went with Charles in P8. Check was not gonna be on the podium. P8 in the points I have Fernando Alonso. I went with
[46:46.560 -> 46:59.040] Charles in P8. Oh, I'm back on my no Ferrari train. I'm burned. I've gone back on everything
[46:59.040 -> 47:04.560] that I've ever said before again. So hey, never listen to any, don't trust me, but trust me,
[47:04.560 -> 47:07.040] I'm so trustworthy, except when it comes to Ferrari.
[47:08.040 -> 47:10.240] Even if you were saying bad things were gonna happen for
[47:10.240 -> 47:15.680] Ferrari. Um, yeah, I, I don't know, it just felt like
[47:15.680 -> 47:18.200] something could go wrong. I don't know. That's
[47:19.040 -> 47:32.720] but it also could it I yeah, I, I want it there. I don't know. I guess I would want him higher, but I want him not DNFing.
[47:32.720 -> 47:35.600] Not sad Charles this weekend.
[47:35.600 -> 47:40.720] So then who do you have as your most points not Red Bull for the sprint?
[47:40.720 -> 47:41.720] McLaren.
[47:41.720 -> 47:43.680] And I do too.
[47:43.680 -> 47:48.400] Wow, so shocker. Right. Moving into our race predictions though,
[47:48.400 -> 47:52.120] I did the same strategy that worked for me last week where I said I'm also going to pick
[47:52.120 -> 47:56.960] McLaren as my top team not named Red Bull in the points for the race because I think
[47:56.960 -> 48:01.160] McLaren will either do it for the sprint or for the race and I would like one point again
[48:01.160 -> 48:07.100] please. Yes, and last time I said I'm going to hedge my bets with Ferrari and McLaren, and now
[48:07.100 -> 48:11.260] I think, you're so silly, you girl, you do not, you're so silly.
[48:11.260 -> 48:12.880] You do not do that again.
[48:12.880 -> 48:13.880] No.
[48:13.880 -> 48:19.280] So now we have McLaren for the race and for the sprint.
[48:19.280 -> 48:21.680] All right.
[48:21.680 -> 48:27.700] So that's good for me, because because I am I am in the lead. Yeah, I'm just trying to like make up
[48:29.340 -> 48:31.140] For
[48:31.140 -> 48:38.060] Red mistakes. I totally forgot to establish at the beginning of this segment that by the way
[48:38.060 -> 48:42.100] We are doing predictions every week until the end of the season at the end of the season
[48:42.100 -> 48:50.160] Whoever has the least amount of points so it has lost our predictions battle, is going to end up in an ice bath. So we have some serious
[48:50.160 -> 48:57.680] stakes on the line here. I'm losing. So you can see how overjoyed and thrilled she is. So just
[48:57.680 -> 49:02.160] so you know, we're going to follow through on our bets. Nicole is already, we have five more races
[49:02.160 -> 49:05.320] and she's already dreading potentially ending up in a nice
[49:08.660 -> 49:09.360] We were tied for like a bit. So I was like, haha
[49:11.360 -> 49:11.480] and now I'm
[49:13.480 -> 49:13.560] not tied and
[49:18.440 -> 49:18.880] Currently if you know it had to be tomorrow I'd be in an ice bath and that sounds cold
[49:25.360 -> 49:26.720] Anyway, p2 for you because we just don't predict P1 anymore because why would we do that?
[49:32.240 -> 49:37.760] Sir Lewis Hamilton. He loves Koda. Mercedes bringing an upgrade. I will continue to put out the positive vibes. Sir Lewis Hamilton on the podium. USGP P2.
[49:40.240 -> 49:47.200] I will continue the positive vibes but I am slightly not as positive as I have Lando Norris in P2.
[49:48.840 -> 49:54.520] But following that up immediately with my P3, I have Sir Lewis Hamilton!
[49:54.520 -> 50:02.560] Well, I have a McLaren in my P3, but it is not Lando Norris. I have Oscar Piastry continuing his podium streak with a P3.
[50:02.560 -> 50:08.440] That would be great. That would be fun.
[50:10.280 -> 50:15.720] Something in my brain is anticipating Lando trying to be very careful about his mistakes last time.
[50:15.720 -> 50:17.800] But honestly, Oscar's been on it,
[50:17.800 -> 50:20.400] so I wouldn't be surprised.
[50:20.400 -> 50:23.000] I believe that there will be a McLaren.
[50:23.000 -> 50:24.280] Yes.
[50:24.280 -> 50:27.000] Pop and champagne bottles in Austin.
[50:27.000 -> 50:29.160] I have essentially learned,
[50:29.160 -> 50:32.020] through most of this season doing these predictions,
[50:32.020 -> 50:34.720] that they're very hard to do,
[50:34.720 -> 50:37.280] especially because we are recording on Tuesday
[50:37.280 -> 50:38.960] and there hasn't been a single car on track
[50:38.960 -> 50:41.320] and we haven't even gotten upgrade details.
[50:41.320 -> 50:44.600] So I believe there will be at least one McLaren
[50:44.600 -> 50:45.520] on the podium so I'm
[50:45.520 -> 50:51.600] gonna go with the one I want to root for. Who knows? Very good, very fair. Who knows?
[50:51.600 -> 51:00.160] P10! Who'd you got? Because I can. Oh I knew you were gonna do this. I have to!
[51:00.160 -> 51:05.280] It's wrong of me and like what kind of fan am I if I don't Daniel
[51:05.280 -> 51:12.960] Ricardo P10 finishing the points we're doing it I'm going for it again I already
[51:12.960 -> 51:18.520] gave myself the double McLaren like I gotta have fun somewhere in predictions
[51:18.520 -> 51:21.480] I will never have fully logical predictions because that's just not who
[51:21.480 -> 51:29.240] I am well because I had a really good inkling that you were gonna put Daniel Riccardo as P10 I decided to have fun
[51:29.240 -> 51:35.760] with it and put Yuki as my P10. Wow I thought you were gonna maybe steal my
[51:35.760 -> 51:39.480] just like be like haha you can't pick Alex Alba and I'll say Alex Alba but
[51:39.480 -> 51:44.960] this is more fun. It's a battle of the Alphataris. I thought about it and then I
[51:44.960 -> 51:48.920] thought it would be more fun to say battle of the alphataris and because I
[51:48.920 -> 51:55.020] do think one of them could end up in p10 who knows which one mm-hmm all right we
[51:55.020 -> 51:58.960] should probably stop ending on this one because it's a little bit of a sad one
[51:58.960 -> 52:13.260] but this is our driver the last driver to cross the checkered flag so they have to finish the race but they will finish it last who do you have Kmag I'm gonna it just
[52:13.260 -> 52:25.640] feels like that you know potential for Haas home race perfect storm oh no big upgrades external garage who knows what that's
[52:25.640 -> 52:33.320] about why I was gonna say you're not feeling good about their massive upgrades with one
[52:33.320 -> 52:37.800] practice no I was gonna say like what I don't really feel like they're gonna
[52:37.800 -> 52:50.160] like necessarily nail it Friday one practice so but that's, I don't necessarily feel unique to Haas, but it just, yeah.
[52:50.160 -> 52:56.760] But I have less faith in Haas doing it. Versus other teams. I was saying, I was, earlier
[52:56.760 -> 53:01.600] I was like, I feel positive about Mercedes bringing their new floor, but I don't, and
[53:01.600 -> 53:06.160] Haas is bringing an entirely different car, I'm like, I don't know.
[53:06.160 -> 53:11.120] And so I guess our last to finish is also a battle of something because it is the battle
[53:11.120 -> 53:13.440] of Haas because I went with Nico Hulkenberg.
[53:13.440 -> 53:15.160] All right, Nico.
[53:15.160 -> 53:20.520] Yeah, I guess we're giving a little bit of break of, um, we've been coming after Alfa
[53:20.520 -> 53:23.280] Romeo for a bit, I feel like.
[53:23.280 -> 53:28.680] Oh, I heard that noise noise I made it close you
[53:28.680 -> 53:40.640] want to come up and our second guest on gridwalk Harper Parker is somewhere
[53:40.640 -> 53:45.280] offended he's like infuriated outside my door.
[53:45.280 -> 53:50.560] Parker has been on the podcast many times. He like doesn't count. I don't want him
[53:50.560 -> 53:55.240] to count. He's not allowed to count. He doesn't know anything about F1. Yeah, um
[53:55.240 -> 53:59.120] Harper just knows that sometimes it's very early in the morning and I yell a
[53:59.120 -> 54:10.160] lot. Oh Parker does know that. Yeah, Which reminds me of one of my favorite pieces of content we've ever made, which was the POV of your dog on a race day.
[54:11.600 -> 54:18.240] So go scroll for that. It's quality content. I don't even remember what race it was for. Might have been like Austria or something.
[54:19.360 -> 54:21.360] There was a bit of a layoff.
[54:21.360 -> 54:26.120] It was the end of July the last time we got to predict an F1 Academy race,
[54:26.120 -> 54:34.560] but it's back this weekend for their season finale, and it's finally going to be broadcasts!
[54:34.560 -> 54:42.000] July? That's... wow, crazy. That... oh my goodness. And we're in October. That's a whole different
[54:42.000 -> 54:47.000] season. So excited for this to be broadcasted. Long time coming.
[54:47.000 -> 54:52.720] I mean, definitely was a rush to replace the W Series. So I guess in hindsight, it's really
[54:52.720 -> 54:58.400] cool that we were able to have like this in some capacity and maybe kind of figure out
[54:58.400 -> 55:08.520] some of the bugs that we won't necessarily see next year, since we'll be having F1 Academy next year. And I'm excited to watch this weekend
[55:08.520 -> 55:15.480] and next year. And it'll be a good way to kind of get a code is a great track to probably
[55:15.480 -> 55:18.080] trial run broadcasting this race.
[55:18.080 -> 55:26.960] I agree. It's such a great circuit. For anyone who hasn't been following along F1 Academy closely up to this
[55:26.960 -> 55:32.460] point, I understand they have made it pretty difficult for you to do so. The
[55:32.460 -> 55:37.360] racing has been really impressive and exciting. I can recommend on the YouTube
[55:37.360 -> 55:42.000] channel they always did highlights for every race, so if you're really
[55:42.000 -> 55:50.880] invested and want to go back and watch the race highlights, they are fun videos to watch. But in quick summary, they've done 18 races so far because they have
[55:54.000 -> 56:00.000] they have race one and then they do a reverse grid and then race three. So there's three different
[56:00.560 -> 56:06.280] races in their weekend. Over the 18 races there have been 11 different podium
[56:06.280 -> 56:12.520] finishers. So it's been a very competitive series overall, which is just
[56:12.520 -> 56:18.600] exciting to see. Like you aren't going in like, oh this one person's dominating it
[56:18.600 -> 56:24.280] like what was happening in the W Series. And then going into this weekend, the top
[56:24.280 -> 56:26.640] three drivers in the standings can all
[56:26.640 -> 56:33.120] still win the championship after this weekend. Very exciting. Don't know what that's like recently.
[56:36.560 -> 56:45.440] Reminder, it is a spec series and they are driving F4 level cars.
[56:45.440 -> 56:48.640] Is what is going on here.
[56:48.640 -> 56:51.040] Hold on. Stalling, stalling, stalling, stalling.
[56:51.040 -> 56:57.640] Okay, and since it has been a long time since we did this,
[56:57.640 -> 57:04.840] a reminder, we... I didn't total the points from last time we did this.
[57:04.840 -> 57:05.000] Hold on, we can... You want't total the points from last time we did this.
[57:05.000 -> 57:10.000] Hold on, we can... you want to pause recording and we can do that real quick?
[57:10.000 -> 57:11.000] Yes!
[57:14.000 -> 57:17.000] Uh oh. Wow. Things got interesting.
[57:17.000 -> 57:21.000] We did the math and added our scores from the last round.
[57:21.000 -> 57:23.000] So the way this works is we draft drivers.
[57:23.000 -> 57:28.000] We can only draft two drivers in the top six and one has to be in the bottom half of the standings.
[57:28.000 -> 57:32.000] And we've been doing this since round three.
[57:32.000 -> 57:36.000] And somehow we are tied at 255 apiece.
[57:36.000 -> 57:42.000] Going into the final round. Oh, and whatever the drivers points they score, they score those points for us.
[57:42.000 -> 57:49.920] So somehow through four rounds of doing this we've tied.
[57:49.920 -> 57:55.620] How do we decide who goes first? What do we do now? What, how do we?
[57:55.620 -> 58:07.920] I think we should, I'm gonna random number generate. And if it is an odd odd number do you want odd or even?
[58:07.920 -> 58:16.480] I even. Okay min one max 100 and
[58:17.360 -> 58:23.120] all right Nicole's going first. Oh see for me it froze on 13 and I was like
[58:23.120 -> 58:25.320] first it's a sign from Taylor Swift saying
[58:25.320 -> 58:29.160] hello and I lost, but um, cool!
[58:29.160 -> 58:30.160] I get to go first!
[58:30.160 -> 58:34.560] Um, or I guess you get to choose if you want to go first.
[58:34.560 -> 58:36.200] Nope, I wanna go first!
[58:36.200 -> 58:38.200] Okay, I assumed.
[58:38.200 -> 58:44.760] Alright, Nicole, uh, we snake draft this, which means I get to go second and third,
[58:44.760 -> 58:47.360] but Nicole, who are you taking?
[58:47.360 -> 58:48.200] I'm gonna hear from you.
[58:48.200 -> 58:50.480] So I'm taking Marta as my first pick.
[58:51.760 -> 58:54.200] I am not shocked, but I'm disappointed
[58:54.200 -> 58:56.220] that you get her again this week.
[58:57.280 -> 59:01.120] But that means that I get Lena and Hamda
[59:01.120 -> 59:03.900] as my picks two and three.
[59:08.120 -> 59:17.280] So I get the challengers chasing downasing down murder for this championship this weekend. But I'm going to take Abby as my second pick in the
[59:17.280 -> 59:27.080] top or whatever top half and going into my third and final pick,
[59:27.080 -> 59:28.560] hoping for a better weekend,
[59:28.560 -> 59:30.560] I'm taking Bianca Bustamante.
[59:32.200 -> 59:33.900] All right.
[59:33.900 -> 59:34.880] Bianca, who by the way,
[59:34.880 -> 59:37.760] has some of the most incredible social media.
[59:37.760 -> 59:41.240] I was about to say exactly that.
[59:41.240 -> 59:44.960] She's been stepping up her short form content everywhere
[59:44.960 -> 59:48.480] and it's hysterical and very real.
[59:48.480 -> 59:49.680] Go check it out.
[59:49.680 -> 59:58.880] And all right with my pick of the person who is below P6 in the standings, I'm going with Amelie DeRose,
[59:58.880 -> 01:00:02.640] whose last name is very hard for me to say with my American accent.
[01:00:03.760 -> 01:00:05.680] But she has been a fantastic points
[01:00:05.680 -> 01:00:10.960] getter for me this season and for you. I feel like every time one of us picks us, it is
[01:00:10.960 -> 01:00:19.120] a good pick. But I am so, so excited to watch this race next week after the final race of
[01:00:19.120 -> 01:00:24.680] the season. We're going to do a whole segment on like a post-mortem on the season, recapping
[01:00:24.680 -> 01:00:26.720] the whole thing. The F1 Academy has also
[01:00:26.720 -> 01:00:31.040] been announcing a lot of new karting initiatives, so we're going to get into that and also get
[01:00:31.040 -> 01:00:37.440] excited and break down the 2024 calendar. So, so much more F1 Academy to come even though this is
[01:00:37.440 -> 01:00:42.720] the last race weekend for them of this year. Welcome back to Yellow Sector Notes. Not the
[01:00:42.720 -> 01:00:47.000] fastest walk around F1, but we will complete a full lap around the paddock hitting every F1 garage.
[01:00:47.000 -> 01:00:54.000] Starting with an F1 note today, it was announced that Spa extended their contract with F1 through 2025.
[01:00:54.000 -> 01:01:10.260] Now on to the teams. Williams announced that they signed on to Puma as an official team supplier, joining Ferrari, Mercedes, and the overall global F1 brand. Haas has special USGP race suits and a car livery again this year.
[01:01:10.260 -> 01:01:15.980] Lewis spoke with British GQ this week about fashion in general, is how I would describe
[01:01:15.980 -> 01:01:16.980] it.
[01:01:16.980 -> 01:01:17.980] Definitely go read the article, it's really good.
[01:01:17.980 -> 01:01:22.740] I'm not going to be able to sum it up, just in a short Yellow Sector note.
[01:01:22.740 -> 01:01:28.640] Checo is doing a collab with a major shirt manufacturer in Mexico called
[01:01:28.640 -> 01:01:38.080] Acapella and he's also doing pop-up store events for the GP week. So if you live in major cities
[01:01:38.080 -> 01:01:42.720] in Mexico go check out the Acapella Instagram account and Checo's Instagram account to go meet
[01:01:42.720 -> 01:01:50.640] him. Seems cool what he's doing. Charlotte Clare took some time in New York before the USGP in Austin this week and he attended a
[01:01:50.640 -> 01:01:57.520] Nets game. Aston Martin is doing a bunch of fan storytelling this week for the USGP, highlighting
[01:01:57.520 -> 01:02:05.520] Austin-based fans to talk about their stories of becoming an F1 fan. Alpine Note this week is actually about their
[01:02:05.520 -> 01:02:09.360] endurance racing because we did talk about their big news which is their investor news
[01:02:09.360 -> 01:02:16.160] already today. But Nick will be testing in the Alpine race car soon for their endurance
[01:02:16.160 -> 01:02:21.940] team. And I will probably insert the fun recording I did with my mom when she popped in to pick
[01:02:21.940 -> 01:02:25.140] up the dog and say hello to Nicole because she
[01:02:25.140 -> 01:02:26.920] was very excited for Nick.
[01:02:26.920 -> 01:02:30.600] Valdri Bates announced that he's going to be doing a bike event again, this time in
[01:02:30.600 -> 01:02:32.600] Australia.
[01:02:32.600 -> 01:02:37.820] McLaren did some development driver testing last week in Barcelona.
[01:02:37.820 -> 01:02:41.540] And last but not least, Alfitari is set to announce their new title sponsor soon based
[01:02:41.540 -> 01:02:49.280] on quotes coming out from the team saying they know who it is and the contract is signed but you know what's gonna happen? Honestly is that between now like this
[01:02:49.280 -> 01:02:53.440] recording and the time this is released they will announce it but at this point I can just keep
[01:02:53.440 -> 01:02:59.920] saying why are you still teasing it just tell us who it's going to be please and I will leave that
[01:02:59.920 -> 01:03:05.600] in and just make fun of myself if by the time you all hear this, it has happened.
[01:03:07.480 -> 01:03:08.320] So that's it.
[01:03:08.320 -> 01:03:12.080] Those are the yellow sector notes for October.
[01:03:12.120 -> 01:03:12.840] What is the date?
[01:03:12.880 -> 01:03:16.520] October 19th, 2023 completed.
[01:03:16.640 -> 01:03:18.080] How's my sector time today, Nicole?
[01:03:18.760 -> 01:03:22.000] Faster than all of these athletes are investing in Alpine.
[01:03:22.960 -> 01:03:23.960] The first time I think you're wrong.
[01:03:23.960 -> 01:03:26.000] I think I was slower than that today.
[01:03:26.000 -> 01:03:28.000] Well, thank you to
[01:03:28.000 -> 01:03:30.000] VoiceOverMan, thank you to
[01:03:30.000 -> 01:03:32.000] the creativity of

[01:03:36.000 -> 01:03:38.000] If you are watching
